DAMMIT where's my Wii? This Sunday all my plans went to sh!t in terms of getting one early. First off, I missed the midnight store openings because I went out clubbing last night and didn't get home until 3am, but I wasn't planning on doing that anyway. My local target had 60 in stock so I figured I'm guaranteed to get one at 8am. Well unfortunately I'd scheduled IKEA furniture delivery today, and as I'm sitting in my car in the parking lot at Silver Spring Target I get a phone call from the delivery guy who's trying to find my apartment. I drive back home at 7:45, wait for them to unload furniture, sign the form and hurry back to Target...but now there's a HUGE line at the store (over 100 people) and all the Wiis are gone!!!
The crazy thing is, I went back this evening to buy a memory foam mattress topper and checked the Wii section to see what's left. While all the controllers were sold out, they had PLENTY of copies of Zelda, Trauma Center, and all other launch games. Wii Sports seems to be the *real* must have launch title and lucky for us its bundled with the system! I don't know how many controllers each store had at launch, but I'm thinking that if they sold out of extra controllers so fast then maybe this really is the "family" console and not the "gamer's" console.
