In Wii sports you select what handed you are. I'd assume other games would let you do this as well. (except Zelda if I remember correctly)

I still can't believe Nintendo hasn't been able to produce more Wii's or DS's. The supply/demand is nuts...

I've had the same problem once or twice. I thought my batteries were dead, but it still happened after I replaced them. I was just randomly pushing buttons and trying to resync the remote and it finally worked.

that's what I thought too. I have issues in games too trying to sync up the rest of the controllers for multiplayer. it sometimes takes 3 tries to finally pick up.

Its probably the most ambidextrous system in the history of gaming.

Heads up, Mario Kart 64 heads to VC next week.

And Tiger Woods 07 looks like it has lots of potential (releases in March).

Gamespy gave Wario Ware 4.5 out of 5 stars. Mentioned how the game is crazy fun and that multiplayer make the game even more insanely fun(and funny)

Gonna definitely rent it and get it a shot.

Ok, I finally got my Wii, hooked it up with component cables, set it to widescreen & 480p, but nothing displays in widescreen. What's the catch? I only have Wii Sports right now, is that not supposed to be in widescreen? The Wii menu isn't widescreen either.

then you are doing something wrong, cause it displays in 480p @ 16x9 no problem as long as you have the settings correct.

I'm not sure what else there would be to do. I went to the Wii settings menu, changed standard to widescreen, and changed the resolution to 480p. Is there a setting elsewhere that I'm missing?

I believe the problem is that 480p isn't natively 16:9--it's still 4:3. Your TV isn't going to automatically resize it for you, you're going to have to do it manually through the TV settings.

BTW, some games don't support 16:9 anyway (VC games, and I believe Wario as well), so it's not going to do that much for you.

Ahh, you're right. I guess I was just thinking that since there was a setting for 16:9 vs. 4:3 that the Wii would somehow stretch the image out for you.

Yep, I had the same issue, had to tell the TV that it was a 16:9 image, then all is well... and Wario is fine at 16:9, as is Super Mario 64 (the only VC game I have).

I FINALLY got a Wii (Sam's Club backordered them without telling me, got one from CircuitCity.com last Thursday). Figures - I'm getting the infamous "system files are corrupted" message. I haven't gone online to update the firmware yet, I'll do that tonight and see if it resolves it, but chances are this one is going back to Nintendo.

Sigh.

This may have been posted 38 pages ago, I'm too lazy to check all 50+ pages, but if anyone needs remotes, one place that seems reliable is the nintendo store itself. After hearing from 3 different people that they shipped 1-2 days later despite being on "back order", I tried it, and lo and behold, my order for 2 remotes shipped 24 hours later.

Plus, 2nd day air is only $7

as stated earlier, news channel is out

.. but much like the weather channel, its "meh" at best.

Slow load times (after update is done), default larger text, lack of content, etc

Its much much easier to go to your computer and type in msnbc.com and get the whole portal full of news rather than sit in front of your wii and surf their way.

I just got my new Wiimote strap in yesterday. It is one of the v. 3 straps. MUCH better than the original. The new slide stays in place now and keeps it snug against your wrist. I hated the old one because I would have to re-adjust it during tennis alot.

The slide show is pretty neat - might help some people learn geography.

Also, I have a set of 4 wriststraps on the way - hopefully they're the new V.3 models.

I must have been living under a rock lately. When they come out with a third one? I have the same problem with the slide not staying in place. I already got my v2 replacements. Would Nintendo replace those for the v3 ones free too?

I guess you could just request more for your Wii. The only bad thing about the v. 3 straps is that they do not have the cool little Wii logos on them
