Wii Play is no Wii Sports, that's for sure. Some of the games are fun, but it doesn't have a ton of replay value. Worth the $10 it (basically) costs.

Yeah, some of the games have potential. The shooting game is alright. Laser hockey and billiards are good. Tanks could be really cool with 4 players and bigger levels but it's fun anyway.

Can I share Mii's with friends?

Yes, you need to exchange your Wii ID with them and then both add each other.

Should probably be renamed the "marketing dept focus group channel".

I don't have any new channels.

You have to go to the shop channel/wii ware.

Ahh yes, I didn't get the message about it on my wii until sometime last night.

Is Wii Play sold out everywhere? I didn't have a problem getting it yesterday, but I just saw one go on ebay for $68.75 plus $20 shipping! That's insane for such a lackluster game.

yow.. $88 for Wii Play. Someone was ripped.
I bought it mainly for the remote. Some of the games would be better if they had some different modes or settings to customize.

I think I'm going to pass on Wii Play for now.

I know I should want something different, but I REALLY want another tennis game. I still play Wii Tennis every day. I'm just tired of having to play the same two top-rated computer players. I'd like to see a similar game, but with a basically infinite number of computer players. The best thing would be multiplayer though so you could square off against other human players. The computer players are fairly easy to pick apart once you know how they react.

Yeah, Wii Play is worth the $10 over the remote only (this one made 4 total remotes for us), but not much more than that. My 8 year old likes it but he's about the only one. I haven't played it much so maybe it will grow on me but it seems to be more of a demo than a collection of real games.

You know, now that I see how they are doing after the results are in, I kind of dig the everybody votes channel. It's more than just an opinion poll, they also show you by state, and track your "stats". It's quite well done, and with the prediction part of it, and a few voters, it's something like a mini game.

The questions are a bit silly, but I think thats the fun of it. Not bad for a freebie. I'll certainly use it far more often than I do the weather or the news.

And even though it still reeks of marketing, having a direct path to the popular opinion of their userbase can only be a good thing I suppose.

yeah, I'll probably use it more than weather or news as well.. it's still far easier to just sit my ass down in front of my computer while I'm checking my mail.

The voting thing is different, it's a time killer to throw in after finishing a game. I do find them asking if I want to predict after each question very annoying. I wish I could just turn that option off.

I'd buy it if it was $10-20.

Speaking of $20 games, if nintendo were to release new editions of Wii Sports and such every few months for $20, they'd make an absolute killing.

Well, thats the part that makes it somewhat of a game. I'd probably get bored quickly without that. Although they should give you the option to speed everything up and skip all the animation and stuff.

I also have to admit, the VC games are getting much better. Last week's was pretty good.

Ice Climbers - It's fun for a little while - wouldn't say it's worth 5 bucks, but it's not a bad game.

Kid Icarus - Overrated IMO....it didnt sell very well for a reason. It's a good game, but the control is terrible, and it's extremely difficult because the enemies are cheap. I doubt anyone who's never played it will have the perserverence to finish it nowadays, but yet, it still have that early nintendo charm, and it's still a classic. Worth the $5 for nostalgia, but not the actual game.

Kirby's Adventure - One of the last games released for NES, and one of the finest. Excellent game all around. It's a bit easy, but it's well polished from start to finish. No need for words, it's easily worth the $5.

A lot of the games released have lost their charm. Back then, the games cost $50, and they were supposed to last you a while. Yet they were still short, so some of them were super hard. And thats just not going to fly in 2007. There's no way you can convince me that a one hit kill in r-type actually makes the game better. Yet some games have stood the test of time, and are just as good nowadays as they were 15 years ago, and always will be.

Super Castlevania, SMB1 (If you havent played it to death already), Super Mario World, Gunstar heroes, Zelda 1, Zelda 3 and Kirby's Adventure are still damn fine games, and unquestionably worth the money they're charging. Zelda 3 is an absolute masterpiece, and anyone who owns a Wii that has never played through it needs to buy it ASAP. Contra, mk64, SF2, super star soldier, soldier blade, sonic, f-zero, military madness, ristar and gain ground are good games as well, but not cream of the crop. There's a few other that are decent, but not quite worth the money.

And there are some games that just havent stood the test of time, either because theyre too difficult, or just plain sucked: Xevious, Solomon's Key, Pinball, all the NES sports games besides hockey, both r-types, every tg16 and genesis game that hasnt already been mentioned, and *GASP* Mario 64. The camera and control is so horrendous, that I consider it unplayable by today's standards.
