Ugh, this system is so Wii-tarded I don't know where to start.

How long do you guys (or gals) expect this system to retain its fun factor? I mean, sure right out the box it's probably fun, but how long will it take before you tire of making goofy hand gestures to make Mr. Link swing a sword?

I'm no fanboy whatsoever, but if I'm to get a system, it will be the PS3. It offers much more for the price than the Wii IMO. (Blu-ray/Visual)

Time will take its toll, however. If Nintendo proves it can make a product designed for longevity and keep the interest of the masses captured, than I will buy one. Until then, Sony's PS3 will remain #1 on my "to buy" list.

-MYF

You're a fanboy, and you're posting in the wrong thread. There's a stickied thread just for you.

I'm a fanboy? Please feel free to bold exactly what in my statement makes me a fanboy.

Using your logic, I will go ahead and declare that you're the fanboy because I entered this thread and merely gave my opinion.

-MYF

I called MYSELF a fanboy in this thread, dumbass.

I called YOU a fanboy because you're bashing a system you've never played.

You're right though, the PS3 offers more for the price than the Wii - not surprising, because Nintendo is making a profit on the Wii while Sony is taking a ~$300 loss on each PS3 they sell. Thing is, I don't want to spend $600 on a video game system. It doesn't matter if it's a good deal for what I'd pay, it's more than I want to pay. Especially since all that extra money is just buying me nicer graphics and a disc format that Sony is trying to force on the market. To that I and many, many other people say "meh."

I'll buy a PS3 though - eventually. Just like I bought a PS2. And I'll buy an Xbox 360, just like I bought an Xbox. But the PS3 isn't happening until they cut the price in half.

Why are you calling me a dumbass again? I declared you a fanboy and I was right, if anything I deserve a f*cking cookie.

I'm bashing the Wii? How so? Did you not read the last sentence of my post?

-MYF

Zelda (software) in and of itself is enough to sell the Wii. Software sells systems. There are currently no unique games available for the PS3. Just about every game for the Wii is unique, thanks to this "gimmicky" controller.

If you don't want a Wii, that's fine. It'll leave more for the others who couldn't snag one of the 2 million that are selling/sold out. Just don't be jealous of those who are actually having fun with consoles they can actually have with software they can actually play and have fun with.

i stopped reading after the first sentence of your post, which was enough proof of what you are. Just leave this thread if all you're here to do is troll.

Wow I'm sorry that you didn't get the joke (Wii-tarded lol?). I'll be more clear from now on.

Some stranger comes out and calls me a fanboy and a dumbass for no reason at all, I try to defend myself, and you call it trolling? Please don't try to add fuel to the fire.

just let it go man, when fanboys get upset about other fanboys they say it's trolling, but when they do the same sh!t at the other fanboys thread they say it's not trolling

that's pretty much how the VS thing works at any forums

no sticky? a mod even asked me if i minded it being stickied a while back, and i said 'go for it'...

--------------------------------------------
It is now a sticky.

The problem was that the response came back upside down and it took a while to realize that we needed to flip the response so it was readable in the Northern Hempisphere.

Is anyone getting a very overly white screen using the rca cables on an hdtv? Like everything is washed out... when the menu changes and it kinda fades out, for a millisecond it looks great... tried both 16:9 and 4:3 modes(both on wii settings and on tv), 480i(of course), but its consistantly like this... most of the words are unreadable... I tried both contrast and brightness settings on the tv but it does no good...

It really looks like the difference between the RF picture comparison vs composite here http://www.cnet.com.au/games/xbox/0,239029621,240060560,00.htm when it fades

I dont really know what I expected, because I knew it would somewhat of a challenge hooking it up to the projector and getting it to read right, and not actually having cords run everywhere.

I need S-Video out. Are those out of stock cords the only ones that have this?

i read someone else mention the sensor bar. i'm planning on using mine at my desk with my 20" widescreen lcd monitor and i really don't have much room. not sure how that will work..

it can go on the bottom of the TV.

I was completely lost since there isn't any help out there, so it took me 1.5 hours to figure out Link's village. No spoliers, but once I noticed something in the village it dawned on me.

And today I feel like I worked out for hours.

there's going to be at least a 2-3" gap between the bottom or top of the monitor and the sensor bar for me. will that cause a problem?

As long as you have WiiConnect24 on, I think you get a memo message sent to you about what is new in the Wii Shopping Channel. I wonder when the weather and news channels will be up...

Probably not. I found with my tv it works better on the top than the bottom...

The sensor bar is super small, and what I remember from the brief glance at the manual, requires you stand a few feet away. I don't know if you have that kind of room. I find that standing about 8ft away works the best.

It depends on where the monitor is mounted. I bet the bar would work just fine if it is below and eye level monitor.

BTW, anyone feel that the bar is really flimsy? That ultra small gauge wire has me nervous that I'll bust it just moving the TV.

The bar is really solid. I dropped it a few times yesterday trying to set it up, the wire is still perfect and the bar itself is... well... indestructible?

So where's the place to get one of these before Christmas? Are game stores doing pre-orders for the next shipments?

Call a store near you and ask when they typically receive shipments (not necessarily of the Wii, just anything). Show up and pray they've stocked the Wii.

Sounds good, thanks! I'm not in any rush, but since it's $250 and not $600, it's a more...manageable purchase, lol. What accessories do I need? I don't really understand the deal with the controllers. Does it come with one piece and you have to buy a second piece, then additional sets of which ones you want?

It's really like $400 since they rape you on accessories.

System + extra remote + extra numchuk + component cable + Zelda.

250+40+20+30+50 = $390 plus tax.

Found a source for Component cables:

http://wii.ign.com/articles/746/746085p1.html

November 14, 2006 - Eager Nintendo fans worried about the availability of component cables in stores at launch now have a new option available to them. It was previously believed that these cables would only be sold at Nintendo, Circuit City, GameStop, and Best Buy online stores, and only after launch; however, it has now been divulged that the cables can in fact be purchased before the launch of the Wii, but not online.

In fact, the only way to secure component cables at this point in time is to call 1-800-255-3700 and order them by phone. The cost of the cables themselves is $29.95 plus tax and shipping fees. Standard shipping is only an additional $5, but it may not be the most reliable way to ensure that you will get the cables at launch. Two levels of expedited shipping are available: 3-5 business days costs $7 and 2 days costs $13. Prior to writing this, we called and ordered the cables for ourselves, so we can verify that this is, in fact, quite true and quite convenient.

While this may not be a viable option for everyone -- many gamers out there may prefer to save money by picking up third-party cables in stores -- at least gamers who want to make sure that they can play Wii games in 480p at launch have a surefire alternative.
