target gave out tickets at 7 am today. the last one went to a guy who got there by 6:30 for the 8 am opening. grrr, stupid profiteers. i hope the market gets flooded and they wind up making less than $10 an hour for their time

Yeah, WTF. I got there around 7:30 not expecting there to not be many people at all. About 50 people in line and only 18 tickets. Retarded.

I drove by CC afterwards because they apparently had 15 in stock. They open at 10:00, and there were already 20 people in line.

don't put too much into that. the guy that does site, noted that it just a script that auto updates based on some formula he came up with. when some official number is put out he makes adjustments.

While I agree... nintendo confirmed selling 600k here, and shipped ~400k to japan... japan sold out pretty much so I would say 1M is a pretty good estimate. which is freakin awesome for nintendo.

ummm... profiteers? How do you know they aren't just gamers who want the system? The demand to actually have the Wii, not resell it, is pretty impressive. Flipping it doesn't really gain much profit either.

I'm about to go nunchuck hunting though... wish me luck (i realize it's too late .. heh)

Had a route down to check several different stores. Target first before it opened, barely missed out getting in line. Headed out to a different Target further away - they actually had PS3s but were sold out of Wiis.

Circuit City's sunday stock seemed to have been leaked pretty wide spread and there was a huge line for the 21 they had. Same deal with Toys R' Us. Last hope was Best Buy but finally some guy came out and told the group of 20 or so that they didn't have any Wiis - everyone left, no PS3 takers. They BB guy said something about the 17th which sounds like BS to me, was surprised they didn't have any while all these other stores did (and Wal Mart holding back until the 6th) - it makes me think that BB is going to be hording units until the 17th damn them to hell if true.

Why is Walmart not releasing Wii's, if they have them in stock? Is it some weird accounting scheme? Contract with Nintendo?

All the stores are wising up and releasing them on scheduled days. Selling them as they trickle in only makes sense if the demand dies off so that they can actually keep them on shelves.

You'd have to show up every day when they open or get shipments in to get one if they sold them as they got them. It really is better this way.

The reason Walmart isn't selling them on Sunday like everyone else is that they have some supposed 4 day sale starting then - otherwise the reasons for hording them are the same.

i just got off the phone with the operator at my local target (clifton, nj). they sold out at around 845 am, 45 minutes after opening at 8am. there was a line that started last night apparently.

i don't know if anyone was able to walk in and pick one up or if only line-waiters did.

For anyone thinking about ordering controllers from nintendo...

I ordered on the 26th and it shipped on the 2nd

even though they claimed backordered till 18th.

woot, ordering nunchucks then... i hit everywhere around here.. circuit city had remotes, but i didn't see anyone walk out with nunchucks. toysrus supposedly was packed this morning, so dunno what they had.

walmart says dec 6th, 8am.

I got one at Circuit City this morning.

I got to Target at 6:30am and at 7:30 they handed out 19 tickets. I was 21st in line. Quick drove to CC and was 13th in line. They had 23 in stock and handed out vouchers at 9am. Some guy had been waiting outside CC since 2am. Too bad the wife wants to wait till Christmas to give it to the kids. I want to play TODAY. The targets in my area sold theres during the week and most had 5 or so units. Toys R Us had 39.

In general the Wii buyers aren't buying to resell, they're buying to play. I had to wait in line last weekend at Best Buy starting at 4:30 AM. It was worth it, it's awesome!

Ok this is scary.

Our goal was Target at 8, Toysrus at 9, and circuit city at 10. Circuit City had told me they had 10, and i drove by there at 7:30 and saw 8 people in line. So I hopped in line while my wife drove to target... obviuosly too late there... then someone came to stand in line for a PS3 and told us that Toysrus opened 1 hour early and had tons of wiis, so my wife went over and picked up one from there. I abandoned my place in line after that because this one didnt have any extra remotes...

Just curious which CC you went to. I was at the one in Racine, WI

My wife went to the Target in Waukesha on Tues and they had 26 they put out with all the controlers and nunchucks. She bought one and an extra remote. The sales guy asked her if she wanted another nunchuck and she said no Make sure your wife knows what to get if you send her out Oh well she just likes to play sports so we are good for now. I just need to find the cables for our ED TV.

i got a remote at CC but no nunchucks. went to Wal-mart and Toys R Us. Walmart had 1 remote left and TRU had nothing.

i di dpick up Rayman Raving Rabbids also. Looks really fun.

ordered a nunchuk and classic controller from nintendo

hopefully the games start getting better reviews. Gamespot gave many of the games some bad reviews.

Probably sometime around next year. If I had to guess, I'd say march. More people wanted it at launch than was available, but now that word of mouth is getting around, demand is getting even higher.

woohoo I got one!

Got in line at toysrus at 8, they opened at 9. They didn't give out vouchers until 8:45. By that time there were ~50 people there, they only had 21 wii's. Not sure why they didn't hand them out sooner. I got number 17 so I was happy. They limited extra remotes and nunchuks to one each per person so I managed to get an extra set also.

oh my god the cow toss in rayman is hard. i can't get it to go straight ahead plus its killing my arm and shulder, lol

i got it twice out of like 20 tries now but i canly get like half the required distance!
