Keep in mind that 8GB is system + GPU memory. The OS will need a chunk of that too!
Not especially a big deal when most modern PC GPUs in that class only have 1GB-2GB of RAM. Embedded operating systems don't require as much memory as Windows does.
They didn't even show then goddamn thing... there was no point to this conference.
Oh, f**k you Sony. what a waste of time. So they confirmed what we already knew, basically, a PS4 is coming out in the future at some point. Blah
We know the specs, the release date, the controller, some of the games.
We'll see what it looks like and the price at E3.

We just know Holiday which usually means November but no firm release date or price or things like hard drive size, firm launch games, nothing. This seemed more like they were trying to beat Microsoft out the gate.
Um, yes, I think I speak for a lot of people when I say I was expecting at the least a release date.Huh? Over the course of two hours, they confirmed a ton of new stuff that we didn't know. How was it a "waste of time"?
Don't tell me you're one of those people who would rather see a pretty picture of the console, then actual, informative, detailed specifications and tech?
What is the release date?
Yep, that's all it was. MS could have given the exact same conference today. We just know Holiday which usually means November but no firm release date or price or things like hard drive size, firm launch games, nothing. This seemed more like they were trying to beat Microsoft out the gate.
Holiday 2013. So sometime between U.S. thanksgiving and Christmas most likely. ~1 month window.
The one fun thing about listening to Two Steps from Hell is that you hear the music everywhere.
That song during the last video was Blackheart from SkyWorld.
EDIT:
I didn't mean that it was a bad thing. People just kept talking about how much memory GPUs use today, but we need to keep in mind that memory is used for the CPU and GPU.
Wow, people will nitpick anything.
Of course, it's Anandtech.Wow, people will nitpick anything.
