They are letting everyone go early today here!

Also, if anyone wants to add me on PSN, my name is kekeZergRush I think. If I make it home in time for the UPS (or they just leave it), I might end up picking up NBA2k14. I am wondering if I could trade in my Madden on 360 for the upgrade on the PS4 version.

I guess there is a downfall to having this many units available at launch. I've been stuck on the login screen with a "please wait..." for a really long time. PSN getting slammed.

Yes. PS4 owners are trying to get the Day 1 patch that everyone argued was optional. Sure you can just go without it, but you'll have a gimped console.

I'm sure after the first couple days things will go smoother. I'd give Sony a small pass though because it's really hard for any company to prepare for that much burst traffic, even with the proper infrastructure. It will be the same for the XB1.

Was the first one in the preorder line at my Best Buy, showed up about an hour before they opened. There was roughly 50 people out front of the store that didn't preorder.

By the time they let us in, there was around 30 people in the preorder line and around 80 in the non preorder line. No idea how many extra systems they had, didn't care was happy as a school girl

Was the first one to walk out of the store with the system, felt good

I'm rather surprised by the idle numbers on Ars's article:

Standby mode 10W
Idle on menu 89-91W
Idle w/ disc in drive 93-96W

That seems awfully high for the hardware in the PS4. My PC uses just as much power at idle, and that includes running two Liang D5 pumps and 9 120mm case fans! I would have suspected a lot less given the significantly lower amount of components on the motherboard (all those chips on typical PC boards all take power while idling) and using a CPU designed for low-power systems.

Although, I care more about the rather high 10W standby figure than I do idle power when it comes to consoles.

As long as I know who the people are, I don't mind. I have random people that sometimes add me on Steam, but if I can't find any indication as to whether I know them, I just ignore it.

Maybe that's why Thraxen and my sister are my only two PSN friends.

Edit: Looks like their website is also having issues. I give. Time for BF4 on PC.

I had the same issue as you. If you get stuck for more than a few minutes reboot your system and try again. I got in on the second attempt. Downloading KZ now and download speeds themselves are fine.

I'm still at work, but I managed to play resogun for a few minutes (at the demand of my co-worker) and the DS3 controller feels great. And the voxels... THE VOXELS!!!

I'm not preordering from Amazon anymore. Then, you have to wait all damn day for UPS.

Call and request a hold for pickup (too late now, though). My local UPS hub had it last night. I called to request hold for pickup, they pulled it and it was ready in 15 minutes. I could've picked it up last night if I had seen the notification quick enough.

I'm going to do the same thing with my Xbox One next week. Instead of waiting at home for it, I'll just go pick it up as soon as the shipment center opens.

Yeah, I downloaded the patch a few days ago figuring this would happen. The system update went fine.

yeah to be honest i was skeptical about opening my TB one because it coulda been a lot of free money, but i'm glad i opened it and really like it after a few hours of play. and i know there will be some great games out Q1 of next year too. i actually had trouble sleeping last night because i was thinking about playing it lol, and i woke up before my alarm went off this morning and was wide awake because i knew if i got to work early i could leave early and play more hah. although, i gotta help my mom with some stuff at my house when i get home, and gotta watch some movies with the wife, but i'll have a couple hours before my wife gets home to play!

i'm actually more looking forward to playing knack than killzone.

So would you say knack is worth buying? The reviews were not nice but the way you seem to enjoy its simplicity speaks to me differently than the reviews. Should I buy it or should I wait for a price drop?

While I'm 100% camp Sony at this point (screw Microsoft and their constant pandering the game industry to the 30 yr old frat boy target), Microsoft has TONS more expertise and infrastructure when it comes to servers, etc.

I'm not even going to bother to attempt flip this thing. I see dozens of these on a local for sale website listed at $500-$600. If I can't get $750+ for the PS4 and 3 games I'd rather keep it. All the better because I really want to sink my teeth into BF4.

Yeah! MS has never done anything or made any games that don't cater to frat boys! Because, otherwise, I'd have to acknowledge I have a rather stupid outlook on everything! Lost Odyssey wasn't made by Microsoft Studios! Nor was Blue Dragon, Mass Effect, Age of Empires expansions, Forza, Orc's Must Die, anything by Lionhead in the past 10 years. Yikes, IGN only gave Knack a 5.9 Mediocre. I had high hopes for that game. Had a cool concept. Looked like a lot of fun. Glad I didn't preorder it now.

That's risk of being an early adopter. Few systems have had really strong launch lineups. I went with AC4 because I know exactly what I'm getting. It's going to look and play the same as the PC version of AC3.

We probably won't see any really big titles until next fall when sales stabilize. Though I don't think developer cycles will be as dragged on this time, since all three major platforms have near identical hardware. Any game that has a PC version is almost guaranteed to have a PS4/Xbone version.

BF4 is installing as we speak. So far I'm really impressed with the DS4, the dashboard, the ease of setting up PSN. The only jackassery I've seen so far is EA's Origin BS.

One minor complaint is at one point it told me an update was downloading for BF4, but I couldn't find an Active Downloads section (that's Live speak for you non-XB'ers). Eventually it let me start the game. The campaign is 100% installed and the MP is 43%.
