The more I read the reviews the more I am glad I did not preorder the PS4.

There really isn't any justification for buying a $399 PS4 at the moment. There are no AAA games to speak of, and frankly the majority of them won't be coming for another year or so.

The smart move to make is to simply wait until next holiday season to pickup the PS4. By then the OS bugs will be ironed out and the game library much stronger.

The X1 is the system to get for THIS holiday season. No doubt about that.

There are a lot of people in this thread happy with it and saying they dont agree with low review scores in their judgment of a game. So, I dont think it can be said that it is a bad purchase.

There will definitely be games to play by mid next year, and there won't be a price drop by that time, so really early adopters aren't wasting anything by picking up one now. I agree that there is still some room for improvement on the interface side, but I don't care much since I bought one primarily to play games. I'm sure all that interface stuff will be ever changing. It's only software after all.

I don't know. 7 hours of usage isn't terrible, especially since it charges when the system is off.

My TV, and consequently the PS4, is about 12 feet away from my couch, which is also where my controllers sit. I don't want to run a long wire or put them up by my TV.

Honestly, I think the biggest thing that I would worry about with the controllers is one thing that Sony has always been bad with: using good batteries. I can't tell you how annoying it is to try to start up the PSP or go to use a PS3 controller and find out the battery drained while it sat there. Since I can use batteries with the 360 controller, I use low-discharge rechargeables, and I don't have that problem. I usually leave the Vita plugged in, so I'm not sure if it has that issue.

True dat. We need an "Official UPS thread."

I love it. Don't regret the purchase at all. Like others said it's sleek as hell. No external power brick that that forsaken one for the 360. Setup is a breeze, I haven't had any PSN issues at all. DS4 kicks butt.

No complaints here at all.

Got my Amazon PS4 this morning, along with my 3 game pack from the buy 2 get 1 free promo.... and all 3 game cases were smashed and cracked on the same side. Pieces of the case fell out of the crap cardboard envelope when I opened it. Didn't bother opening the games, just requested replacement.

Launch day PS4 with no games :/ should have just hit up a B&M.

I'm kind of "meh" about it. I just don't see a single game that makes me want to get the PS4 yet (or XBone for that matter).

I remember dealing with "sold out" for weeks for the PS2 at launch and managed to get one on Amazon after figuring out their shipment schedule and how long it took them to update their inventory to allow sales again (it happened on Thursdays between 11-12EST where I sat in front of the computer for over an hour hitting refresh until I could hit the 1-click purchase).

I waited for the first price break on the PS3 (it was overpriced at $600), but managed to find a launch 60GB which still works just fine and I have full backwards comparability for PS1 and PS2 games.

I just don't see any compelling reason to get a PS4 yet. The launch games are not at all interesting to me. I never liked FPS games on consoles (I'm sorry, I grew up with a PC as well and learned on Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Hexen, Thief, Doom 2, etc., and the keyboard+mouse is so superior that I just can't stand a gamepad). And with the lack of any other functionality (media player/streamer, etc.) I just don't see a reason for it at the moment. I will just continue to use my PS3.

bandwidth is like $0.03 / GB or so when you're amazon or netflix so that's a lot of emails

Went ahead and got the sony charging station today. Gamestop had the energizer one too but the sony one looked more sturdy to me. I dont think it would break as easy. I also grabbed AC4 while I was there.

This reason is always funny to me. I have zero problem playing FPS games on PC or console and I'm proficient on either. It's not like you are at a disadvantage on console since everyone else is using controllers.

There are plenty of options for the PS3 to get a harmony or other programmable remote to work. Logitech sells a PS3 adapter even. I used a essentially hack before others were available called IR4PS3 which had you disassemble a PS3 remote control, pull out the board and attach it to a custom board which had IR receivers which then essentially converted an IR command and sent the signal to the PS3 remote's board for the corresponding button push, which then sent the blu-tooth command to the PS3.

And someone will do the same thing and call it IR4PS4 instead... That said, Sony themselves have stated that the PS4 isn't designed for media usage.

It isn't the advantage or disadvantage, it is the absolute frustration of the lack of precision with the gamepad.

It's better than the Wii U's gamepad, which is 5hrs IIRC. Besides, can't you still use it as a wired controller?

Mine got delivered this afternoon. At work till 9 and won't get home till 9:30. The wait is killing me!
