This reason is always funny to me. I have zero problem playing FPS games on PC or console and I'm proficient on either. It's not like you are at a disadvantage on console since everyone else is using controllers.
At first, like the first 10 or so hours of gameplay, are a bit of a transition. I grew up playing both, and it wasn't really until the Xbox that people starting their "omg mouse is so much better. my fat fingers aren't dexterous enough to use thumbsticks so they suck!" mentality really came about.
I actually watched a good video on youtube kind of explaining the mentality of fanboys though. It made a lot of sense why people think like that. It can be summed up as such: if you are attacking something I like and spent my money on, calling it stupid and bad, you're implying someone has to be stupid to buy it; thus, you're effectively calling me stupid. It makes sense for me to see that as an attack on my character, and to retaliate.
