1) Is there a way to turn off the notification that my controller has automatically turned off due to its 10 minute timeout? I have all notifications turned off in the Settings>Notifications menu but I still get this popup. When watching Netflix/Amazon/etc. it means that 10 minutes into everything I watch I get the popup, which is somewhat annoying.

2) Also, is there a way to automatically log back in as myself when, at the end of a stream, I turn the controller back on? On initial boot I have my PS4 automatically log into my profile (the only profile on the PS4), but when I turn on the controller and the PS4 is already on and already logged into my profile, I get a prompt asking me whether I'm myself or whether I'd like to create a new profile for some reason.

Check the controller settings time out. I'm not sure why yours turns off but I'm positive it has to do something with an option to turn it off or put it to sleep after x amount of time.

I've never encountered this as mine is set to not turn off on it's own, so it never did. There should also be notification settings under the controller options area where you set the sleep intervals.

Are you holding the ps button when turning the controller back on? Try just a tap and see if it syncs. If not, is there an option to log out if the controller sleeps?

Probably for the same reason. They wanted to be first (Sony ultimately won that one) and launch before the holidays to catch the Xmas rush.

Yes you can easily tell with the software that both were rushed out the door. Both were/are missing basic promised features.

I have noticed and though about both of these things as well.

I definitely like the fact that the controller turns off after 10 minutes to conserve battery life, so I don't want to leave the controller on all the time. (btw battery life seems pretty good, overall)

I don't find the pop-up to be too annoying, but auto-login would be nice, and I certainly wouldn't mind the option to disable the pop-up.

It doesn't matter if you tap or hold when you turn the controller back on. You have to press a button to log in either way. At least the credentials are saved.

I wonder how many times they are going to post articles like this, because it's pretty much going to happen with every cross platform game. The PS4 GPU has more horsepower than the XBO GPU, end of story.

Yeah this really should be common knowledge at this point.

TBH I think its pathetic they have to post anything whether on the PS4 or Xbox one runs @1080p I would think with this generation it would of been it given everything would run at 1080p

Yet another multi platform game that runs @ 1080p on PS4 and 720p on Xbone, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes.

http://m.joystiq.com/2014/02/17/met...-on-xbox/?post=1&icid=joystiq_home_latest_art

That was more then I was expecting. I was expecting either the Xbone to be 30fps 1080, or 900p 60fps. wow..

You'll hear it for pretty much every game, at least for a solid year but probably much longer. There were comparison brought up for nearly every multiplatform title for the PS3 and 360 where the differences were minor, now we have substantial differences.

I said when they announced new consoles were in the works that not every game would be 1080p. I knew it for certain. It's kind of sad, but there's really nothing we can do about it. The hardware is set in stone now.

Realistically, you won't be able to tell the difference between 900p and 1080p in 99.9% of cases. Especially, when you're 10' away from your TV. But, people want to cry about it like it is the end of the world.

But you can tell between 720 and 1080

You can still tell in some cases. The problem is when you start getting games running 1080p at a higher framerate than 720p on the other system. There are new dev tools that help use the esram better to keep the performance up for the XB1, but most of the games we have now didn't have that benefit.

If you can't see the increased aliasing playing a game at 900p vs 1080p:

A) Your TV is tiny, and or, has poor image quality.
B) You're sitting really far away.
C) You need to see your eye doctor.

Wasn't ac 4 patched on the ps4 to 1080? I did notice a difference after the patch. Things just looked a lot sharper and smoother. I'm sitting about 7-8 feet from a 42 inch tv.

Well, yeah, it's the same game just running at a higher resolution. After the 1080p patch it looks sharper because things running at lower than a LCD's native res tend to be a little blurry looking, and it's smoother because there's less noticeable aliasing.

It's totally noticeable. Not that it's the hugest deal in the world, but it certainly matters.

Yea but it's common since the launch of the consoles that the one with the stronger hardware can have 1080p native vs 900 on the Xbox one. But I agree in this day and age both should run at 1080.

Which is why I still own a PC suitable for gaming. If the game isn't just a shoddy job of a port, I can always get it for PC if I wish to and I often do. Though some games get the benefit of a new engine for the PS4 and XB1. Like NBA 2k14 and the new Tomb Raider release.

The GPU on the Xbone is quite a bit slower than the one in the PS4. So Microsoft has chosen to sacrifice resolution for image quality and frame rate. Which makes sense. Most people can't tell the difference between 720p and 1080p. At least on the size of TV most people have and the distance they watch from.

I agree though that games should absolutely be 1080p in this day and age. But, that's why I game on PC as well. The GPU in both consoles is already outdated by a generation.

Then it will be posted for every game. Some of the comments at IGN are hilarious. The fanboys have made sooooooo many gifs about this.

Go look at the comments: http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/02...-zeroes-runs-at-1080p-on-ps4-720p-on-xbox-one

Pics like this are smothered all over it:

This sums it up best:

It is a little sad when you purchase a new console that can't run at 1080p. The gap will most likely only widen in the future.

both consoles run some games just fine at 1080p. both also can't run some games just fine at 1080p. this is the same exact thing that happened with ps3 and 360, people seem to be forgetting that or something.
