I just don't understand this at all...use the flashlight when you are in the dark. The whole point of those sections is atmosphere, not CoD shoot everything action.

You haven't even scratched the surface of the story and character building. People keep telling you this yet you just seem to want to shoot everything mindlessly or something.

No the game just isnt pulling me in like Uncharted did, nothing more or less than that really other than the spore and dark sections are the worst

It's not going to right away. Read the two threads the one for the PS3 version and the one for the PS4. Most people had the same issues but ended up loving it a lot by the end. You do seem overly focused on the action portions and that's not the strength of the game (well it is if you enjoy slow paced stealth action over Ramboing it). But the story and presentation are top notch and your cutting yourself off just as the story is picking up.

I also tried PT, snooze.. It looked nice but there is no kind of interaction to the static environments so that just kills the visuals. I went down that hall at least 7 or 8 times until I was finally attacked, didnt try it again

I think you are at the section where you are going to be fighting a big guy soon in that underground area. There is also a better section in the winter area coming up.

Tip for the area is run to the door (need to try to open it) it sends in infected kill infected, grab key card, start generator and run to the door as fast as possible. This will keep you from getting to know a hard to kill bloater.

As for the story you and Ellie are really just getting to know each other. The drama really starts picking up soon and within about 2-3 hours of game play (not including deaths) is about the point every one gets hooked. Really your only a 30% in but its really more foundation stuff. But if you don't care for characterization and story it might never draw you in.

that was BY FAR the worst part of the game to me. if he already has problems seeing in certain areas ... he will probably ragequit at this part.

I went to play it again and the ps4 was screen flickering a white static background. I thought it might be the port on the tv or hdmi cable and I tried the hdmi cord I have going in my Fire TV and the same thing. I hooked it to my computer monitor and when it turned on it was in safe mode then it booted up normal and seems fine. I bought this used and have played it all week with no issue until today

As far as P.T. is concerned, you're doing it wrong. It doesn't have objective markers or a big arrow guiding you, I know, but there's a little more to it than endless hallway.

On another note, does anyone's PS4 make somewhat strange "click" type noises? It sounds like it's coming from the disc drive mechanism, too loud to be the hard drive in my opinion. It's pretty annoying. Happens with or without disc in drive. Got in chat with support, they had me try safe mode reset and basically a full reset, still happens.

The game is one cinematic moments broken up with a few action set pieces. The exact opposite of Uncharted which is giant action set pieces strung together by story. If your getting to hung up on how many hours you are into it and how frustrating combat can be at some points (specially early) then you are pulling yourself out of the experience and are going to miss some of the best parts of the game. On top of that their are 100's of little moments that only happen if take a more casual approach to the game that really round out the characters and give great backgrounds to both them and the world.

Ah I was think it was short for Play time and not Playable Teaser. Ignore 72.385% of what I was saying then.

FWIW, it took me awhile to get into TLOU as well, and for me it was because it took awhile to understand the game mechanics (they aren't 100% logical).

One "AHA" moment for me was realizing ALL zombie enemies DO NOT respond to your flashlight. So you can safely leave the flashlight on at all times unless humans are in the area. This doesn't really make any logical sense for the runners, but whatever.

Also, using any weapon/ammo/shiv in an encounter should be a last resort. Almost every encounter can (and should) be completed using stealth and choke takedowns. If you're in an impatient mood, you can throw bricks to attract all the zombies into a cluster, then throw in a grenade or molotov cocktail to take out 3-4 at once.

Yea I didn't like it either. But apparently you have to try the door before getting the key card and then when they all show up just run toward the door after getting the key. I stuck around and didn't know that so I had to fight them all.

I don't think I had trouble in the high school area of the game on ps3. But on this version I'm stuck there last time I played. Still will be easier to get through than it was for me in the basement.

I recently hooked my PS4 up next to my computer's setup, connecting it to my 24" Asus monitor, a keyboard and mouse, and sitting it next to my desk...

Kind of a random thing to do, maybe, but my reasoning was that I wanted to be able to communicate with people more comfortably when playing games like FF14, since reading lots of text from the couch was not ideal.

Anyway, the setup feels so similar to playing on a PC, that I'll occasionally try to do things like Alt+Tab. I think I'm more effective in shooters, like Warframe, this way too, even though I'm still playing with the DS4 controller. I think I might play Destiny this way, with the PS4 connected to my Desk setup...

Being a lot closer to the screen helps you being more effective

Is anyone getting the vanishing of Ethan Carter? It looks like it will be out on the 25th of this month. Not sure if I should get it for ps4 or pc.

I didn't see anything about that game, I'll have to look it up. I'm thinking about buying little big planet 3 digital on ps4. I've got $20 in my PayPal just sitting there collecting dust and it would be nice not having to switch that game in and out whenever me or the kids want to play it.
It seems like a safe bet with that game since they are on a 3 year release schedule on consoles. Should get my money worth on buying this digital

It's in Firmware 2.0. There's rumours that it will push out this month but Sony has yet to confirm that.
