Yup the console is still top new for any huge deals but I'm sure there will be bundles.

I'm really hoping for a controller deal. I could use another PS4 controller.

Yea I need another too since I've got only one and I hate charging it every other day. It never runs out but when I see 2 bars I go charge it.

Yup around that time last year I snagged psn and plus membership from Amazon for $30 for one year. Going to be on the look out for that as well this year.

I snagged 4 of them last year so I wouldn't have to look for them this year. You can't beat it for only 30 bucks a year

I used the game stop buy 2 get 1 free used coupon to get 2 more controllers and a game for $100+ tax. I sold my buddy a controller for 40 and kept the other one.

Anyone pick up a PlayStation TV today? I hooked mine up, and fired up PS4 Link. Unfortunately and surprisingly, it's really bad. I don't know what's wrong, but PS4 Link is far more fluid on my Vita, which connects over WiFi, than it is on my PlayStation TV, which connects over Ethernet. The thing is... I'm not even sure if it's a latency issue or a graphics problem. I tried Resogun, and it just felt incredibly sluggish.

I didn't even know it was out yet. I have a smaller tv in the closet in my bedroom I could use. I too would have to connect via Ethernet and keep it and the tv close to my router. Although I don't have a vita so I would just be using the ps4 controller to play my ps4 games using the ps tv.

It just came out today. You can use the PS4 controllers with it, and they actually work fine. Although, one negative aspect is that there's touch-screen emulation built into the joysticks, but not using the touchpad on the DualShock 4. :hmm:

I'm going to try moving it downstairs and onto the same switch as the PS4. The only difference in regard to network topology that my Vita uses compared to the PlayStation TV is that my PSTV goes through the switch in my bedroom and my Vita goes through my router (via Wi-Fi). After that point, they all go to the main switch, which then goes downstairs to the living room switch, which is where the PS4 is. I also tried adjusting the resolution to see if it was some weird issue with scaling, but that didn't do anything.

I was also disappointed to see that Lumines isn't playable. I'm fairly certain that I saw it on the list of playable games at one point, which made me wonder how they'd implement the back-tap mechanic. The thing is... tapping the back to build up your special is the only Vita-centric feature, and honestly, I've always hated it. So, I wish the PlayStation TV would just ignore it.

So you can play any ps4 game you have in the system? Do you need the disc in all the time in the ps4? I may pick one up later this month. My router and ps4 are on the same floor. My ps4 connects via Ethernet power line because wireless its connection isn't as quick. The ps tv would be wired directly into my wireless router's Ethernet ports. Glad you got one and were able to see how it works. Keep us posted on anything else you find.

Odd that it won't use the touch pad. Maybe an update will rectify that later.

Yes. PS4 Link is pretty much just like remote desktop for your PlayStation 4.

EDIT:

Oh, and one interesting thing... the PSTV actually came with everything you needed to hook it up. Most consoles skip out on the HDMI cable, but the $100 PSTV included it. Amusing! Of course, there's no Ethernet cable and you have to buy the Vita memory card (it has 1GB built in) separately, but I had an 8GB one lying around.

EDIT 2:

So, I hooked the PlayStation TV up as close as I could get it to the PS4, and no dice. It's still just not playable in Resogun. Keep in mind that you can play it, so it's technically playable. However, if you've ever played Resogun, you know that twitch movements are a way of life, and that's next to impossible on the PlayStation TV.

Got the PS TV this morning and it played the PS4 remote play just fine but eventually later on it became laggy and games like Destiny was completely unplayable. I think you have to close everything that's running on the PS TV (hold O button to "pull" the app page down) and I wouldn't be surprised if it's that version 3.0 firmware for PS TV that's causing it because I remember downloading it. Otherwise it worked really well this morning.

Yes you need the disc in if you want to play the game that you have on disc, and it needs to be turned on (I was hoping it'd work while in standby).

Do you mean the new Themes firmware update (3.3 I think)? I'm really not a fan of it on my Vita either. The first thing that I noticed after updating my Vita is that it was slower to respond to the swipe-to-unlock animation (you swipe from the top right). Before, you could swipe as soon as the screen came up, but now you have to wait a few seconds.

Maybe I should try uninstalling the theme and see what happens.

Why does the ps tv require a vita memory card? Is only if you want to download games to it? In my case I don't think I would need it since I would mainly just be using it to play my ps4 games while someone is watching tv on the main tv. I guess I'll wait for the kinks to get ironed out.

This is really disappointing to hear, since I'm really interested in getting a PS TV for this purpose. I'll definitely keep an eye on reviews to see if they report the same thing.

lol still no driveclub ps+ edition. pathetic. such a botched launch.

sad part is they must have known that the servers were fucked pre-launch, because if they thought everything was working fine, they would have put the ps+ edition out at the same time as the full version, and then later pulled it once they saw the servers were getting swamped.

so there is either some sketchy shit going on where they simply are trying to get the people who can't wait, to purchase the game for $50, or they knew that the servers were borked pre-launch so they held back the ps+ edition from the get go, while they tried to cover up the problems acting as though they didnt know they were happening.

Yea I saw a retail copy at best buy for $60 and I laughed. I don't think many are buying it if they remember it to be free. I think they are just having all sorts of issues with the servers and online features. I also believe they want to hold out for people who will just pay.

What they should have done is release the ps+ version and then recognize the issues, then release the full version during this process.

Well the servers would not have been overloaded before the game was released because there wouldn't be enough reviewers to strain the servers I'm guessing. Also free PS Plus games get released later in the day at a certain time so if they started having problems upon midnight release, they would have had ample time to cancel the PS Plus version.

I was really looking forward to this game since Need for Speed Rivals sucked and I don't have an Xbone yet for Forza. This was supposed to get me my racing fix.

the ps+ version was supposed to release along side the other versions, not later in the day. this is a special case game for sony, not the normal free shovelware game they put out there. this was the game they hyped up prior to the ps4 launch that was supposed to be this generations defining racing game. so i don't buy any of that at all.

the ps+ edition was even originally supposed to be the ENTIRE full game, the same thing you pay $60 for in the store. then they gradually turned it into a glorified demo.

this game has just been a disaster since pretty much it's announcement as far as execution goes. sucks too because the actual game looked promising.

I don't know that I would say horizon 2 is a system seller but it is nearly a must have game for current console owners. Sunset overdrive + horizon 2 seems like it will be a fantastic combo.

yeah i've pretty much given up on it. if/when the ps+ version comes out, i'll definitely try it, but like a 1% chance i'd even consider buying it.

i also have no clue if the game will be out before my ps+ sub runs out, which is like november 9th or whenever a year is from last year when i redeemed it for a year. i don't plan on re-upping it until the new hot shots golf game comes out, or some other multiplayer game for ps3 comes out that i want.

That reminds me mine will expire around the end of November because I bought it during the black Friday deal. I hope I can find another one for $30.

Drive club pisses me off. It was supposed to be free, but we end up getting a demo for free.
I'll download the demo but no way I'm buying the full game

The PlayStation TV is pretty much a Vita without the display or controls. It can play physical Vita games as well as downloaded Vita, PSX and PSP games. However, as you mentioned, the latter require you to have storage for them, and the PlayStation TV only comes with 1GB built in.

Ok so you can play all the games you downloaded on your Vita on it then? As far as memory goes can I just pop in the card in currently using on my Vita?
