just remember, the majority of the people mentioning "the cloud" have no idea wtf it really even is, other than a buzzword they have been hearing for a few years now.

Yeah I figured. So there isn't going to be a huge leap in a few years that would cause the one to run games better than the ps4 because of cloud computing or whatever it is that a few developers are talking about?

Yeah, I guess that kind of fits what I was asking. I heard on another board a bunch of people talking about how the cloud will "future proof" the console, and in a few years the cloud would make the xbox more powerful than the ps4. It all sounded really fishy to me, so I thought I would ask since I am not the most tech saavy person around.

I remember hearing something about that but nobody explained what they mean. MS I think said something about the cloud, but everyone has access to that even Nintendo if they wanted to use it.

It's a matter of implamentation though. Sony wants to do a lot of stuff that sounds awesome. I hope it works out cause being able to play every new game day one for a timed demo is really cool sounding.

If you look at the PC, we've had "the cloud" for ages. Distributed computing programs too. Nobody has devised a way to play Crysis on a PC that is under spec'd.

Some people were claiming, using MS's Azure servers, they could offload computing and extend the life of the console, because the servers will be updated when they need to be. Now, while that is technically possible, it is highly unlikely to happen to a scale that will actually make the games look significantly better. I guess if you had some game that used complex math computations, offloading that to a server could be faster than relying on the CPU in the Xbox to do it. The small number of packets having to be sent back and forth wouldn't be a huge deal. For any real stuff like rendering and such, I don't see it happening unless everyone gets a 1GB connection.


Some of the stuff, like persistent worlds and even AI profiles being created and sent can help gaming, but that is about as far as I see it going. We might end up with Diablo 3 / WoW style implementation of games that do most calculations on the servers and you are just a dummy client, but that won't make it look much better.

Another way to control your gaming courtesy of EA. Luckily I only play a select few titles. Namely Battlefield.

It seems convenient for those who have games across multiple platforms with friend lists etc. However, it's just a way for EA to take more control over how customers access things.

Also remember there's nothing stopping Sony or a publisher like EA from either setting up their own cloud or renting space on Amazon's or Google's. In fact, EA could use Microsoft's Azure cloud services with a PS4 game (the regular Azure not the version of Azure dedicated to X1 use).

We use the Amazon cloud services at work. They make sense for some of our business applications, but there's no way offloading some CPU calculations to a remote server cluster will magically make the slower graphics cores in the X1 work faster than the PS4.

Go to the PS4 page on Amazon, and see which one shows up with the yellow Instant Order Update. If you did it last night, you should have the launch edition. When I ordered mine last night, there was no launch or standard, and I ended up with the launch edition.

I was going to get my ps4 from Amazon until I realized they are going to charge me shipping and tax plus no guarantee I will get it on launch because I didn't pre order right after the conference. I'll be picking up mine at Best buy.

Here is the list I found of exclusives:

Most of those games are more than a year off. I know Mad Max doesn't even have actual game footage yet.

I'll check at gamestop friday and see if they have an after e3 list of games and find out what's coming within 6 months of release.

That list can't be accurate for release games.. I doubt FFXV comes out this year.

I do wonder if my Versus pre-order on Amazon from 2 years is being converted to FFXV though.. Snagged it off their deal thing for like $53.

That chart isn't 100% accurate as it doesn't have Batman for PS4 which we know is getting exclusive content for that game.

Yeah they may be off. Maybe gamestop will have a more accurate list. For myself, I'm not looking for exclusives just something to have besides watch dogs. Knack looked nice and fun..I want to see more footage of bf4 and batman too before deciding.

I believe those lists were just games that will be available for ps4 but probably not throughout this year or even 2014. I can't really find any different.

Moore stated that EA did not know that the PS4 would reveal a pro-used game system, and that they need to reconvene to decide on what to do next.

I posted an interview about their Origin being on every platform in some way and "knowing" what games you own and when you play. They also talked about monitoring what you do while logged into Origin, for, you know, customer service to be better.

imo, this cloud talk ms is spewing is kind of like how sony was touting the old man demo on the ps2 emotion engine. it's all theory talk.

I was just posting the list because it gave a fairly good overview what games are coming out on which platforms for games that were shown at E3 so far. It isn't 100% but it works for what it is
