I hope they get a controller similar to he one on the Xbox 360 as i've never really liked the Playstation controller

There is a MLG controller for PS3 that allows you to swap it into Xbox 360 configuration. It may carry over. I don't have any idea how popular it was.

One thing I hope for this generation is that Sony has allowed themselves to update of social side of the console and what it can do as we go. Whether you use it or not, the fact that they still don't have a cross game chat at this point on the ps3 is embarrassing. I don't expect them to do the software side of it as good as MS, since that is not their thing, but I hope that they can try to catch up on features as they go this time.

They announced TWICE that cross game chat is available and working on the PS4.

Yeah, you missed the point. What I was saying is that during the entire life span of the ps3, they couldn't do cross game chat because of console limitations or whatever. I am saying that I hope that they have "future proofed" the console enough so that if MS rolls out a cool feature on the software side, they can put their own spin on it and bring it to the console.

I don't really see anything either could add except TV crap but I kinda understand what you mean.

Nice article that Gamasutra put up and was somehow missed.

http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/...n_Sonys_DRM_policies_No_more_online_pass.phpl

It's about the DRM stuff and online passes.

"In a way it's a little bit sad in that what we've been doing all along gets such a big cheer."

Do these people even listen to themselves? Yeah this is the same you've been doing all along, except for the online pass you did the last couple of years.

Plus, like he points out, since they're now charging for online multiplayer, they are still charging you. It doesn't matter if its an online pass or if its a "service" charge, they're still charging you money for that. But hey, same as they've been doing all along, right?

And to top it off, Sony has repeatedly said its up to the publishers if they want to implement whatever they want (DRM, used game restrictions), which is effectively the same as what Microsoft is doing other than we know for sure that One disc based will have extra hassle. I can't imagine the big publishers implementing something just on the One and not also doing it on PS4.

LOL...no just no

First off, they ALWAYS has the option to DRM their games on 360 and PS3. Almost nobody did. Online pass is gone. Even EA abandoned it so don't even try to bring that up.

Paying for MP is there yeah, but did you forget that PSN+ gives you full games all the time for being a member? Or that hell...making a gaming network that works well costs money? It was inevitable that they would charge.

You wanna act like you have some hidden "read between the lines" insight. You don't, and quite honestly sound like you don't have a clue.

Everyone said "MS won't do that, they aren't stupid, it's rumor" "Oh sony will do it too watch" and lo and behold...MS does everything the rumors said and sony does...oh simply adds a PSN+ requirement for multiplayer.

I bet you never had a 360 cause they charged for multiplayer games since the beginning of time. If you have such a problem paying that fee definitely don't buy an xbox

Yeah, you're right. In fact, while every sony exclusive was coming with a online code, none of the MS games were, but everyone has forgotten that. I will give Sony credit, they took their lumps at the beginning of this generation and learned from it. They know that you have to pull in the hardcore gamers first, and they will spread word about your console. The two easiest ways to do that is with a good price and to make them feel good with the things you say, and they are knocking it out of that park on those two areas.

I know that the newest exclusive I bought from Sony, The Show, still had an online pass. I will find out this weekend if The Last of Us does too. Sony can say they never did DRM stuff, but they certainly did. Like I said in my last post, the good news is they seemed to have learned from taking their lumps. Now it looks like it's MS's turn to, and that's a good thing. I hope that most sensible people would never wish for them to drop out of consoles all the way, because the industry needs healthy competetion between console makers, but I am all for them being humbled if that's what they need.

For the last time, Sony and MS are not doing the same thing in anyway with DRM.

MS has enforced DRM by building it into their system. You can lend a game to a friend once (who is on your friends list for 30 days prior). It is up to the publisher if they will even allow you to trade in games.

Sony is not enforcing anything and has not done anything different from last gen. A publisher can't do anything with the PS4 that they can not do right this very second and for the past 6-7 years on the PS360.

I don't think they or anyone else has ever said they didn't do some DRM.

I went back and read what was said and you're right. Mainly I am laughing at people getting stirred up. Everyone is so on edge about something as small as a video game console.

AFTER christmas?
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...pf_rd_i=507846

Yeah I'm sure that will work out really great.

It is coming out in November, they didn't give a specific date and Amazon gives anything that doesn't have a specific date December 31st date.

Word is they are aiming for a release before Black Friday, that is what some of the devs working on PS4 games have been told, have the games ready to ship by BF.

Yah. That's the worst thing about the playstation. The controllers are awful. Tiny and feel like they were designed to punish your hands.

That's odd because my hands are big and I've never had an issue with the ps3 controller. The Xbox controllers felt like a potato.

lol in one thread people are saying the PS3 controller is larger than the 360's and in this one the opposite.

I like both controllers and have no issues with either. If I had to pick one I like the PS3's more, probably because I've used it since the PS1 first came out, but I find it comfortable. I use my 360 controller for some PC games and I don't have any issues with it either and I have very large hands.

I'm very used to the PS gamepads since the PS1 days, and only sparingly have used the Xbox--the very few times I hook it up to a PC to play some random game (never owned an Xbox).

I have no problems with the PS design, but I tend to agree that the Xbox design is superior--comfort, sensitivity, all of that. My hands aren't all that large, but I have rather long fingers.

I guess I am fortunate to have zero issues with either controller design. I kind of feel bad for those who have comfort or ergonomic issues with one or the other. I would hate to have to limit myself because I had issues with a controller.

Dead Rising 3 is more 'mature, sophisticated'

As Jim reported, Dead Rising 3 is being aimed to appeal to Call of Duty fans.

Cool. Any MINOR concerns I had about missing that title because I will not have a Xbone were just completely obliterated.

I thought Capcom said they learned their lesson with Resident Evil 5/6 ?

I have absolutely massive hands, a hair over 6'4", and I have no problem with the PS controllers. Maybe it's because I grew up with NES/SNES/SMS/Genesis/TG/etc. All of those controllers were smaller anyway. I don't have a problem with the Xbox controllers either. The only controller I think I've ever actually hated was the Gamecube. HORRIBLE D-pad, and overall low quality. The analog stick even brand new is wonky and doesn't smoothly return to dead center. But that D-pad, oh man. I think I prefer the Colecovision controller, lol. The Hori Gamecube controller is 1,000,000x better, but those are expensive, so I only have 1.
