Played my PS3 for the first time in the past 3 years and the controller doesn't feel as bad as it use to. I think because i had small hands but it felt alright still not as comfortable as the xbox controller but i liked it when i was playing Marvel vs Capcom 3

Nope, still the wrong thread to talk about Dual Shock 3 since the PS4 will have Dual Shock 4 with a different size and feel.

Edit: to get back on topic, Kuchera likes the Dual Shock 4:

Does anyone know what the PS Eye is like? I actually like Kinect but I don't want to get the Xbox. Is the Eye similar to or as good as kinect?

It's suppose to be more accurate than the one for ps3. According to some reviews it's just as decent but doesn't have the same exact features as the connect.

Edit: Here some info on it. It's an early article but describes the basics. It sounds similar to kinnect except maybe for the resolution.

That looks pretty cool. Can't believe they don't release those type of demos, that one looks awesome.

The eye will become obsolete since they aren't packing it in with the ps4. Developers won't go out of their way to develop for it if they don't know how many people will even buy it.

It will have a handful of games that is always gets since the PS2. But if devs do use the Kinect for the X1, there is no reason they can't give those same features/functions in the game to the PS4 version as an option to those who do purchase the eye.

This is precisely right in my mind. Developers making a game for both consoles will not have to remove certain features that may use kinect. Just keep it intact, if someone has the PS4 Eye they can use those features.

The thing is, I think Sony understands there is some market for motion gaming but not a large enough one to warrant packing it in with increased pricing. They are hoping people see a benefit to having it or something cool they can do and they will purchase it. They aren't banking on it being a money tree for them. It seems MS took the other road, pack it in and make it integral to the system trying to draw a different crowd. I don't think the crowd they are seeking is going to take a $500 risk though. Kinect sold well initially on the 360, but the software sales are not great overall.

The best selling game on Kinect is Kinect Adventures. It's best week was the Week of November 27, Black friday selling 1.3m units. Between November 2010 and January 2011, less than two full months, there was a 95% decrease in sales. Overall in 2012 There is a 42% decrease in sales of this title and so far for 2013 it's down 89%. Other titles fare far worse with Kinect Sports seeing a 98% drop in sales this year. Initially they sold ok, had a good Black Friday in 2010 as it was new and the hot thing for kids at that time. Year after year though the software sales tanked. Which really says nobody is using it.

Does the PS Eye have the same features as the Kinect though? I haven't heard much about it, so I really don't know.

why would you want multy display out? mirroring? because thats all it would be able to as it would not be able to render 2 different streams

Watching TV or Netflix and playing a game at the same time

Bring up youtube and watch a walkthrough while you're playing if you get stuck

Letting people play two less intensive PSN titles at the same time

Co-op on dual monitors instead of split screen (even if they have to be rendered at 600p each)

Sports games where you can browse a full playbook without worrying about your friend guessing the play you might have called

Card games where you don't want anyone to see your hand

Managing inventory etc. in multiplayer games like Skylanders or other Gauntlet style crawlers without having to interrupt play for everybody

Following the auction house while playing D3

Clever games/gameplay scenarios that haven't been explored yet because dual displays on consoles have never even been an option for devs (outside of the DS and maybe Wii U)

Pretty much anything that can be done with dual displays that isn't limited to a completely narrow "if I can't play Killzone @ 2160p I have no use for more than one display" thought process

Except consoles don't function like that and neither do the games you listed.

It has two high sensitivity cameras (1280x800 x2 resolution@80fps, 648x480@120fps, 320x192 @240fps) with wide angle lenses(85deg field of view), 4 microphones that can pickup voice commands and is capable of sound detection as well as source origination. You can log in to the PS4 through facial recognition. It does RAW and YUV uncompressed video.

That's nice and all, but can it match everything the Kinect can do? Full body skeleton tracking all the way down to the way your wrist bends? Recognize facial expressions? Read your heartbeat?

Whether the Kinect 2 can do that or not, who knows, but I didn't think the original Kinect would be able to do what they were saying and I was pretty much wrong.

I can see developers porting over stuff like voice commands and video with multi-console games, but the full-body stuff is where the Kinect will still hold the edge. I believe that games that use the Move technology will be few and far between a year out.

I still have not seen a real demo for the kinect where this functionality is demonstrated and proven to be working. The other problem is in the home with the cat, dog, kids etc moving in view. Could cause issues sure.

The Kinect is supposed to be able to track 6 people at once, so I doubt a cat or kid walking by would be a problem. Unless, they impacted your movement in some way, but that is a problem no matter the system.

That's the thing, I DON'T want to get up and move to play video games. I want to sit on the couch and move as little as possible.

Well obviously there are some games where getting up and moving is perfect, dancing, exercising, other than that, no, I want to sit down and relax and play.

That's the thing, nobody is FORCING you to do that. Don't play games that require it. Simple solution. No reason to get all testy because of a peripheral you don't have to use.

Yeah I know about multiple people tracker. I means the whole idea that it can see your heartbeat and tell what your joints are doing. If this worked why is there no demo of this? Wouldn't it be a selling point in terms of how accurate it can be?

Right. I do hope though that there isn't portions of a game that force you to use it at one point or another. Like opening an airlock, you have to drop the controller and turn the wheel virtually. Didn't uncharted do this with the six axis controller at some spots?

Not sure about uncharted. I just tried to start heavenly sword a few days ago. That game forced you to use the sixaxis. It's so inaccurate I gave up trying to destroy those catapults. Maybe because it was an early game with early implementation but it is not very precise.
