the only FPS i know of that does not do spit screen is BF3

OK I didn't know that. I only bought BF3 for the 360 and it was very disappointing that it didn't support split screen. I'm really hoping BF4 does cause I love the battlefield series and preordered the launch bundle.

Chances are it won't, but it does offer the "second screen" experience. You could take turns as squad commander and soldier if you are interested.

As far as the split screen of Halo, I do not know of any games that are similar in feel to the Halo series on the Sony side (the current IPs from the PS3 don't feel the same). However, Bungie's new game might support split screen and that has a definite look and probably very similar feel to the Halo series.

Not true. The call of duty series didn't have splitscreen online play until Black Ops IIRC, and I'm not sure if they even kept it in. You could do split screen local but not online on those before BO.

But, that's completely game dependent... not an xbox vs PS thing like apac was concerned of. Either console has been capable of it, there just weren't many games outside of Halo that supported it at first.

Que? Just lots of people I that I would play with online, but never bothered to ask if they own a 360/ps3 let alone found out their gamer ID. Not like I need to stalk people, but a unified friends list for this sort of thing would be great. I'd like it on steam too. (Not sure if its possible to import your contacts on steam.) Having to manually add all your friends seems archaic.

They were all bundles. The stand alone launch day units were sold out. Amazon got a second allocation of systems which is why they were all available again for a few days.

i REALLY REALLY wish we could see/know what game naughty dog is working on for ps4.

and while it's totally speculation on my part, i 100% expect to see a crash bandicoot game coming back on the ps4. the market has shown this past gen that classic's that a lot of the adult generation now grew up with are making big splashes and can make money.

I would buy it for sure. Loved the crash games.

I'd like to see it before I buy it. If it is something similar to a graphically updated platformer in the same style as the original Crash's, I will buy it the day they are able to take my money. If it is some new 3D type of game or any kind of difference of gameplay, I'd wait for reviews, but I will still be very interested.

As much as I would love it (and I too would plunk down the cash rather quickly), I'd be quite surprised if a new Crash game would be in the same style.

It is not so much a matter of needing it externally, so much as an easy way to remove excess heat. And after the RROD, they wouldn't take any chances. The original PS3's were loud and I'm going to suspect the PS4 will be louder than the Xbox One (at least in the launch editions).

I dunno, haven't seen a schematic or anything yet. Kind of wondering what type of system they use in these to dissipate the heat.

In the power bricks, it is just a passive heatsink. No fan. I'd imagine it would be similar in the console (haven't opened up a PS3, and obviously not a PS4). The difference being that inside the console, the heat has to be removed via a fan or it contributes to heating up everything else. MS is just removing that heat entirely and Sony is choosing to cool it. I just estimate that means the PS4 (which has more GPU power as well) will be using more fans or higher RPM fans, thus making them louder.

I know about all of that. The old fat ps3 has a high rpm fan blowing air out the back. It spun up loud at times, I still have one and when playing last of us it really got loud heh. I know the new ones are quieter and actually near silent by comparison. I am just curious as to what type of cooling system is in the new consoles. Vapor chamber cooling can be effective for video cards which likely output similar heat levels.

Idk what they are using. I know the Xbox One showed a large fan on top of the chip, but it didn't show much other. They stated they are going pretty hardcore though. Sony hasn't said anything AFAIK and I can't recall any pictures inside the case.

Most likely, we won't know until someone does a tear down (ifixit or something) after release.

i have a year1 ps3 and mine does not get very loud. however it does get hot, even when watching blurays. when i switched from using ps3 to watch blurays to watching it in a dedicated bluray player, my a/v closet got NOTICEABLY warmer from doing something as simple as just watching a movie.

My a/v rack is open so I can definitely hear the ps3 fan when it spins up. Maybe it seems loud to me because of its placement.

My 1st gen PS3 60GB was loud ass hell and did indeed run hot but it wasn't as bad as my launch edition 360 that sounded like a blower. Had to blast the sound system up to drown the noise out but now i have a PS3 Slim which is very quiet barely hear it at all and my 360 slim is quiet too but you can hear the disc spinning but its not bad.
