The PSN version of Drive Club is the full version just missing a few tracks & cars. So I will not be buying it lol

Depends, if the tracks you get with the full game are the best and most popular you won't have any players on the free one after a while.

Sony will be detailing the PS4 launch on August 20th at 6pm BST. Most likely we'll be getting a firm launch date then.
http://ca.ign.com/articles/2013/08/...plans-detailed-at-gamescom-2013?+main+twitter

FINALLY!

Took them long enough...I don't think a console launch has ever waited this long to give us the firm date.

Releasing in October would not give the best results. We don't even know if a good selection of games for the ps4 will be available that early. Most of the games we are interested in are coming out late November. Bf4, cod, watchdogs, knack, a few others. No point letting users buy a console a month before any decent games come out. What will we do just turn on the console and mess around the UI?

BF4 = 10/29
CoD Ghosts = 11/5
Watch Dogs = 11/19

I don't know others. All the XB1 and PS4 games are listed without a street date because the games that will be launch titles and available on day one won't be available before the system releases and there's no date firmed up for that. If the console releases in October you'll have most of the games ready on the same day because most of them would be final at this point anyway.

If that date for bf4 is correct then we can expect the system will either be out the same date or before. Makes sense that cod and watch dogs would be 2 weeks apart. Well we have gta 5 coming soon to hold us over. I Also need to finish la noire.

Well, there is the deal for the Xb1 where for some games if you pre-order the 360 and XB1 version and buy the 360 version, you can trade it in and get the XB1 version for $10.

So I still dunno, but I think they need to firm up a street date.

Sony needs to launch that month before the xbox one does so they can get all that money from people wanting a new system immediately. It just makes sense

That makes sense if the games will be available at launch too. At least a couple of them.

I think the bigger thing Sony needs to do is to try to have units on the shelf when the Xbox One launches. It will sell out and people may settle for the PS4 instead, if it's available.

Then they would launch at the same time. We know everyone that pre ordered will all be sold out. If Sony put it on shelves a few days before Xbox 1 the same thing would happen. Most stores only order based on the amount of pre orders especially for a big console launch like this year. Then they will order a bunch more but it will take a week or two.

Which is why Sony needs to focus on meeting demand and having units on the shelf. From what the internet gossip says, Sony is in a much better position to deliver more units this fall in the launch window. Yes, both will likely sell out on launch day, but if the X1 launches a month later, Sony needs to have enough units in the market to say, "Hey, Microsoft didn't build enough units so buy ours instead, it's sitting right here."

Any thoughts on a nice LED HDTV to pair with the PS4? I'm looking to get a 55". Budget is (at high end) around $1100 through Amazon (since I have a gift card). Around $800 would be ideal. Don't really need 3D or Smart Features, though I would like them if possible.

I have one of these and really like it. 55" 120hz LG Cinema-3D Google TV. It comes with 4 pairs of 3D glasses. $1039.99

That's a good model for 3d. I don't need 3d as I barely watch any tv. I like LG though, I still have a 32 inch LG 1080p I'm using. I could go bigger but I don't have the viewing space needed in my living room. I think 42 would be the biggest I would get when you have only 5-6 feet from the couch to the tv. If I change it definitely going to do LED or plasma if I can find one. Plasma picture is nicer.

THX specs say 50" at 6 feet lol but I dunno what they are measuring.

I have an E series 3D tv and i love it

Hmm this statement threw me for an interesting loop. I didn't think that the Vizio E series had 3D in the larger models, but it appears that they do. I thought the 3D E-series TVs mostly encompassed the smaller models that the M series doesn't really cover. Anyway, it looks like the E series is actually rather annoying convoluted.

I found this page on CNET, which covers the differences in the E series models. Amazon doesn't appear to sell the E551D, which has 3D, but they do sell the E550i and the E551i. The difference between those two appears to be the way they're lit. The E550i has direct lighting, which mean sit has an array of LEDs behind the entire panel. The E551i is edge-lit, which means it has LEDs around the outside that shine light inward. Edge-lit is arguably not as good as direct-lit, but direct-lit does usually result in thicker TVs.

EDIT:

Any sense of what the input lag is? Does it have a gaming mode?

If you're curious about any features, you can check out the E550i's manual, which shows on page 28/65 (page 22 in-book) that there is a Game Mode.

Here's the E551i manual, which also talks about Game Mode on page 29/67 (page 23 in-book).

Thanks for the info!

Not a problem. If you're interested in that TV, you can probably go check it out at your local Best Buy or possibly Walmart. I've seen them at Best Buy, but I don't go to Walmart often -- I just know that they were kind of the original Vizio dealer. Anyway, just be wary of the color schemes being presented on floor models. I recall seeing the 70" E series against a 65" M series, and the E series looked bad (seemed really washed out). However, I would bet that it was just calibrated very poorly. I wouldn't be surprised if they do it on purpose to push people to more expensive models. The M-series equivalent of the 70" E series is about $1000 more.

Vizio is a pretty decent brand. Aren't they made by Sony? You guys are going to make me want a bigger tv haha. All I have now is a small table holding up my 32 inch. I've been too lazy to get a decent tv stand. Wal-Mart carries many vizio models. Check there first and compare prices to amazon/newegg.

With Wal-Mart you can usually exchange it if it has issues or buy their cheap warranty. They have the cheapest warranties on electronics.

Vizio LED TVs are using LG panels and their Plasmas are using Panasonic Seconds. It is identical to what you get with the LG sets minus the name and a few features. For example they don't offer a Google TV nor a set with 4 or 6 pairs of 3D glasses. That and I believe the electronics inside them are not the same as the Vizio sets are built in Taiwan or China by AmTran to Vizio's specs. Vizio is an inexpensive brand by comparison but they do not suck. No they won't look as nice as a some other brands when calibrated properly but their value is really good. I wouldn't feel bad about owning one, I just wanted the Google TV stuff.

Honestly looking at them side by side in specs, I see no reason to choose the LG over the vizio outside getting 4 pairs of 3d glasses and google TV. If you don't need that the Vizio is obviously the winner purely on value for the money.

This is what I use for my 70" downstairs, and this is what I use for my 46" upstairs.

What you have for the 46 inch tv is what I got my mother to use for her tv. Seems similar in price to other models I've seen in sears or other places. Most likely what I will get if I decide to get another tv.

I got the M series 2013 Vizio 60" from Amazon for 1300 and it came with 8 passive 3D glasses.

Vizio is an American company and their M series 2013 line is awesome specifically because of its low profile and thin bezel. The picture quality is fine, just like any other LG. I don't use game mode with my PS3 and don't notice any input lag. Thier remotes are horrible though, throw them in the trash when you get it.

<---- PC gamer that hates vsync due to input lag.
