probably for the better. driveclub looked like a poor mans test drive unlimited, and that game sucked.

As much as I dislike delays, I would much rather them push the game back and finish it properly than release it unfinished and "patch it" later.

I don't think most Playstation fans care much about DriveClub anyway. It's just unfortunate that Gran Turismo 6 is a PS3 title, now that Xbone has Forza. Though we've still had two games delayed this week. I'd rather see them done right than released buggy. Just hope AC4 and Knack are out on time. Those were the ones I pre-ordered. D:

Contrast is the PS+ game replacing it. Never heard of it but it looks interesting.

The PS+ version wasn't the full game and you could pay a discount to unlock the full game. So it was never totally free to start with.

As others mentioned above, sucked it was delayed, but I'd rather have a game delayed then rushed out that wasn't ready and devs relay on patches to bring it up to snuff (if they even do).

Contrast looks neat and I was interested in it already. So basically get another PS+ game since we will get Driveclubs PS+ version still.

Exactly this. The game was never going to be free until Sony decided to make it a psn+ subscriber bonus.

If I had to guess I would say the delay is network related. This game relied heavily on online gameplay and being able to post challenges from phones and tablets. I wonder if they don't have all the pieces in place for launch and decided not to release half the experience.

I expected some of these new titles to be delayed. I know with the xb1, killer instinct isn't getting the full roster at launch and no single player. They are releasing what they can and will offer characters later on as well as single player for those who choose to purchase the game. I am quite sure the developers are rushing things out for launch and I am surprised more developers don't announce delays in order to release a better product.

does anyone else think in a year from now sony will be selling more ps4s then ms will be selling xbox ones? when i first started working where i work now, i had a ps3 but everyone else in the office had an xbox 360. i caved in and bought one to play with my coworkers and found the online experiance to be VASTLY superior to that of the ps3.


fast forward to 2013, sony has been putting out some really nice products lately from phones, cameras and laptops while MS has been bombing everything they touch from windows 8, windows 2012, windows phone, surface tablets, etc...they cant seem to do anything right at the moment. thier strength is online with the xbox but somehow i see them blowing it.

I do but not for the reasons you stated. It's more powerful, cheaper, smaller, and has a good head of steam from the good PR sony has gotten since E3. I think there will be a good number of people who buy a PS4 before an XB1 and that will translate into more people buying the PS4 because A) It's more popular and B) it will have more players online initially. To be more specific, people who follow gaming news know about the capabilities, the games, the developer relations, the little details. In general these types of gamers seem to be pushing the PS4 to be more popular at launch with higher pre-order numbers. The people who are gamers but don't follow all the news and don't know all of the details about the systems will likely buy what their friend who knows all this stuff buys. At least initially. If their friends are buying a PS4 they will try to buy a PS4 too. I'm talking about initial release numbers and people who will eventually buy both but not both right away. This is all just my guess from what I see right now.

lol. $9000 for a PS4 pre order. I'm curious what country would people buy this particular one instead of any of the normally inflated ones from Ebay. Plenty are selling for under $700 and their all regionally unlocked anyway aren't they?

Right you will always get those types, but people who do keep up with details (on sites like here, reddit forums, neogaf etc) will likely ride the PS4 PR train for a while. Their friends will probably follow. I don't mean to say everyone on the forums will buy PS4 but there is a pretty good push in the PS4's favor but it remains to be seen how much of a difference that will make in sales. Things have leveled out a bit after the changes to the XB1 policy and once we found out that there is a power button and the Kinect is not required. Still, I think in the minds of many they are already committed to one or the other at launch.

For the demographic you mentioned, early 20s, I think for many of them the Xbox was their first major gaming system. Maybe they know of Playstation but from what I see the demographic you mention are the CoD, Halo, & Gears players. Generally action games, maybe Madden and shooters are what they would be playing. They likely know the background of the titles from Microsoft more than they know about Naughty Dog and SCE Santa Monica Studio (makers of Uncharted and God of War). The other thing that comes to mind is the promotions that run on the Xbox and the advertising targets these types of people both on TV spots, internet advertising, and the direct ads on the Xbox Dashboard. They are the target market for the xbox in my view. So it stands to reason they would be loyal to what they know and it is not uncommon to blindly bash the competition due to ignorance or unfamiliarity. We all want to believe we made the right decision with our purchase so we will talk up the brand we are loyal to at the time even if that loyalty brings no direct benefit to us. Human Nature. There are other gamer groups and demographics who are more loyal to Playstation whether it be for nostalgia, the japanese developer support that Sony enjoys or hatred of Microsoft in general. To me it seems like younger age groups tend to favor the Xbox because it's what they began their gaming hobby with. Maybe they started with an Xbox 360 when they were 13 and now almost 9 years later still play it after graduating college. That makes sense. Others may remember the PS2 era and want to see that library and the Japanese studios reinvigorated and that means they support Sony. I've always had every console out at the time, even failed ones from Sega. I have leaned more toward the Playstation brand for the variety it offers over the Xbox but that doesn't mean I cannot appreciate some of the games that are exclusive to Microsoft's console. That's the toughest hurdle for any company, to win over those who are blinded or narrow minded in their view of the marketplace. How do you convince them that you have an alternative that is either superior or differentiates itself enough to be worthy of purchase?

Like you I don't think Titanfall will have the longevity of some other titles in the genre. Initially looks ok but I'm not seeing this as a danger to Battlefield and CoD dominance online. Not for the long term anyway.

Well put. I think both systems will do fine as there will never be only one anyway but it would be awesome if both systems could play each other online. The platform shouldn't matter in MP imo.

I don't think cross platform play will come. They are on entirely different networks. We might eventually see Windows and Xbox merge into one gaming ecosystem with certain requirements for controller usage on the PC side. Like if you use an Xbox controller you can connect to friends via the Live ecosystem.

Sony doesn't seem to mind cross-platform multi-player as they have a few PS4-to-PC games, but Microsoft is usually reluctant to let any game get outside of its XBOX Live ecosystem.

Microsoft has merged their Live systems and even your Xbox gamertag links to Windows 8 for your login. Doesn't actually mean anything but the pieces are in place that make it possible. You could be right that MS wants you to buy an Xbox and subscribe to XBL Gold to play XBL enabled titles.

Sony was talking about having the PS4 experience on other platforms, whatever that means so maybe they will be open minded.

TBH, online on the PS4 now seems to be as good or better then the Xbox's ATM. Playstation Plus will even offer Driveclub for free at launch. While I don't think MS has been "bombing" everything, in fact I like Windows 8 and everything else like the Surface and wouldn't mind getting very involved n the MS ecosystem with a Surface, WP, Xbox, etc. They all cost to damn much. And that's the major reason I see the Xbox selling less. $100 then the competing and just as good, if not better, console.

A couple months after Xmas I think. Sams club will have bundles I'm sure. They always did for previous gens.

Driveclub is not a launch title anymore. The free version won't be available until the full retail game releases next year.

For those who have preordered with Amazon and have a Chase rewards credit card, you will get a 5% cash back if you pay with the Chase card. If you preordered with Sears, Chase boosted the Sears cash back to 15%, but YMMV. I'm not sure how to apply the extra 10% on an existing order, but maybe a couple phone calls might make it work.

Lol. You could probably build a quad SLI Titan rig for that kind of money. Probably have enough left over to get a giant 4K TV to play it on. Anybody that pays more than $399 for a PS4 has rocks in their heads.

Those are fake. Resellers make fake sales at those prices to drive up the perceived value and average price so they can sell their real ones higher when people think they are getting a deal.
