I think most people agree that AC4 is the best game so far with Resogun the best digital only game. Shouldn't judge a system by its launch titles though. The good games don't really start coming out until year 2. Price of being an early adopter. Nintendo being the only exception, who's early titles were all classics. Though the Wii U and 3DS had weak launch libraries.

It's funny that the best game on both new consoles is an indie game that was given away for free.

Well, not "free", but PS+ is definitely worth the $50 a year. PS3 had some good games last month too. Too bad I already had both the Ico Collection and Borderlands 2.

I think it's more an indication of the state of gaming. It's the indie titles that are able to more easily shine because they're not burdened with needing to provide enough content to justify a $60 price. That means they have little incentive to look for ways to lengthen game time (or add features) because it's a waste of resources that would dilute the core experience. So in Resogun's case, I imagine leading up to the PS4 launch they were doing all the little things to tighten up the game while the big budget devs were half-sick trying to get their games as bug free as they could, cutting corners where they needed to.

Note that these are the opinions of a mainly single player gamer, but a recent example is Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. It's an incredible game with a length of about 2 hours. Every second of that game was fantastic, while a lot of AAA titles are still in the tutorial/exposition dump section a few hours in...which might be all the time I had that night to play. I've lost count of the number of AAA titles that could've been excellent 2-5 hour games (with appropriate pricing) that were instead inflated into average 'full length' games that wear out their welcome well before its over.

TL;DR - Resogun is indeed an awesome game because it has no filler, just a pure and focused gaming experience. The devs had a further leg up in that it's PS4 only so they were able to really polish it leading up to launch.

Nope...I still think ac4, killer instinct, bf4, NBA 2k14, and forza are far and away better games than resogun.

Indie games often get a free pass and many of the titles people say are some amazing achievement I find zero value in. Resogun is good but it isn't on the same level as the ones I mentioned above to me.

What is this free pass you speak of referring to?

They have average games getting glowing reviews because it is an indie game. This is my opinion of course but most indie games that I have tried have been as boring as they come. They just have some gimmick to sell the game as being innovative. For example, I hated guacamelee when I played it. All the reviews were positive and many people said it was great etc.

Nobody here has done it but elsewhere I have seen the argument that "you can't be too harsh on it because it is an indie game and only costs $15". Indie game or not doesn't make a difference to me.

while resogun is a fun game to me, i still haven't turned on my ps4 since i got an xbox1 other than to play the last chapter of knack, and to play killzone for an hour only to realize i wished i had never purchased that game. had i purchased the ps4 i'd be pretty upset with my decision to keep it at this point. but i know there will be great games in the next year or so, so it's all gravy!

My ps4 gets some gameplay time at my friends house with NBA 2k14. Other than that I have been playing forza a lot, trying to learn killer instinct a little better, and ryse.

I started to love Resogun the more I played and understood it. Played Killzone for a bit, then got my XBox One, DR3, and Ryse. Been playing those until the other day when I got AC4 for PS4, giving the DS4's battery quite a workout.

Anyone else having a hard time finding a PS4 camera?

I definitely understand that kind of frustration. There's certain games that no matter the budget, or the praise surrounding them, you almost have to be into that genre beforehand (like fighters, rogue likes, jrpgs, or punishing platformers) to really like it. I'd love to get my $10 back for Ni No Kuni. Or my $5 for Rogue Legacy. But, I guess I'll be reminded of those disappointments going forward and stay away from similar titles. I'm sure there's people reading this and thinking I'm crazy for not liking one or both of those games, but different strokes.

Now, I don't know if its a true movement that will affect the big dogs yet, but I'm excited about games heading more toward the indie side of distribution and scope. Even bigger companies are dabbling in smaller projects like with the release of Blood Dragon. I know some people like to joke that Sony has been pushing indie titles because there's no other games, but I think it's also them seeing the direction that the industry is trending toward. And really, with all the doom and gloom surrounding some of the big developers' futures (Like the 'disappointing' sales of Tomb Raider) I wouldn't be surprised to see budgets spread across more smaller projects rather than going all in on a couple big titles. From a financial standpoint it just doesn't make sense to have so many $60 titles in a given year and expect them all to be profitable.

Anyone playing the pinball game son there? I have to say I got kind of hooked on the 3D Zen pinball once I got used to the flipper controls (felt like there was a bit of a delay at first). Considering buying some boards; anyone playing it and have any particular boards to recommend?

I just don't like the idea of buying boards. I've only played it a few times. I'm playing AC a lot more now and nba too.

I haven't had any regrets with any of their boards, and I bought them all over time. Even the unlicensed boards are good.

It'd be easier to list the ones I play the least: Street Fighter and Ninja Gaiden with Street Fighter probably taking the crown for my "least favorite".

All of the Marvel tables are great. The new star wars tables are also very good.

AC4 is the bomb. I sank close to 50 hours into it and 40 was just screwing around and becoming one of the top 2000 feared pirates. I can sink a ship soooooo quick.

Ok, thanks guys. I can't say I love the idea of buying boards either, but if there are some truly excellent ones, like it seems the Marvel ones are, then I may grab one or two of them.

Is there something specifically wrong with the Street Fighter board? I of course was looking at that one, but if it stinks I will avoid it.

It just isn't as well made as their more recent ones. It's not terrible but it just isn't as creative. I don't regret buying it, but they have a lot of tables that are better.

People like to skip over the non-licensed ones because they seem generic, but tables like Epic Quest and Tesla got a lot of play time from me.

I actually really like the free one and it is not a licensed one, at least I don't think it is. Thanks again for the info.

Of course those games are better but they are not competing. Those are $60 games. I would be hellampissed spending $60 on an arcade game like like Resogun, but as a quick inexpensive game it is very solid. I thought bastion was a really good game--but only at indie prices. For $60 I expect gta v or assassins' creed.

I am maybe 3-4 hours into ac IV. Very decent but suffers so far the same MASSIVE flaw that ac 2 did (the only other ac I have played): combat is easy and thus boring. Apparently people online found naval combat a challenge but sword fighting too easy. There is no risk in alerting guards not much point in countering them. Just smash the attack button over and over and while you're dealin with one guard the others studiously stand around and wait. We shouldn't tolerate that game mechanic in 2013.

Yes that's one thing I dislike, plus, when trying to chase someone, holding the right trigger, your guy gets stuck to random things. It annoys the hell out of me.

If you just mash attack you will die. Some guards and soldiers cannot be attacked or countered. You need to break their guard. You will encounter them later on. Most of the game outside of naval combat revolves around stealth which is super fun if you try to play it like that. Find different ways to deal with guards without alerting them.

Yeah I hate the chasing scenes. Always get stuck to everything like Velcro. Or he jumps randomly on something you didn't mean to jump on. Had the same issue on previous games too. I found combat to be alright. I only upgraded my ship and not the character or his weapons yet.

Anyway, does anyone know how I can get traded to another team in 2k14? I've asked for trades many times and picked teams that were interested in me but I've not gotten moved. I'm on the phoenix suns and I'm tired of that team.

Always getting the score down to 2 points if we are loosing then I get taken out of the game at the most important times which results in us loosing.

After trying both, I find Pinball Arcade more to my liking. Perhaps it's a desire to experience something more authentic as a real table, but it just feels more comfortable to me. Really considering buying the Season 1 pack.

How did you feel about this one vs 3d Zen?

So, recently got AC4 (PS4 version) as a Christmas gift, and have had a lot of fun with it.

I was really surprised by how prevalent the sailing and ship combat are in the game... and then surprised again, to find out it's a LOT of fun.

I had several packs in Pinball Arcade before they started splitting them up into "seasons", and played it a lot before I found Zen Pinball. Pinball Arcade is great for replaying favorite tables that have been faithfully recreated in the game. Zen Pinball has completely original tables that often times can't exist in the real world. I prefer the physics in Zen Pinball, and after playing both feel like PA is a little "floaty" for lack of a better term. It's like the ball doesn't move fast enough or something.

Anyway, both are good games for pinball fans. I just prefer Zen Pinball because they're original tables. There are only a few tables I really wanted to replay in Pinball Arcade, and after playing those to death I got bored and moved on. There's just so much more that can be programed when the table is completely virtual like in ZP... the limitations of the real mechanical tables in PA just feels boring in comparison.

So I've got a issue that maybe someone can help me fix. The girlfriend got me BF4 last night so I load up the campaign play it for a hour then try to go to MP. The menu shows campaign 100% full game 40% and says the game is currently installing. I gave it another hour and switched back to it only to find it stuck at 40%
So I go in delete my bf4 info from the drive and go to install it again off of the disc. It starts and I go to bed. I just checked it and it's stuck at 41% 6 hours later.

Any idea how to fix this so I can install and play some multiplayer

It should not take that long. All I did was put the disc in and just wait. It was also downloading an update too. I would boot your ps4 into safe mode and then do a rebuild database. Then reinstall bf4.
