If only we wern't pondering a move I'd already own it Looking at a home today, so time is better spent getting our home ready to list than playing games. But when we move!

Personally I'd rather see people talking smack about Q4 and the few buying it actually enjoying it then the opposite which happened in Doom3. Where everyone bought it and then spent months talking crap about it. So yea, its good to hear people are enjoying the game. I plan to put my purchase into ebgames as soon as the ship date for collosus and aoe3 roll over to "now shipping" so that I can pay 1 flat shipping charge.

SP: First of all, this game is NOT Doom3, which is a good thing. The addition of the squad is cool, and moves the game along. That being said, the game play is very linear, and the squad just hangs around while you complete your little side missions and won't join back in until you've completed your task. It's also kinda goofy how they keep shuffling Kane around to different duties, especially because of the predictable nature of the assignments, which are usually based on the previous 5 seconds of conversation. All that aside, the game is fun so far, and that's what counts.

MP: This is Quake3 with a facelift. The action is really fast just like Quake3, but it looks about like Doom3. I don't recognize all of the weapons when blazing full speed yet since they look different, but I should get them down soon enough. If you like the fast MP player type games with easy to use weapons, you'll be happy. If you are more of an original UT kinda gamer and enjoy more complex weaponry, this probably won't be your thing.

Are we even playing the same game? The levels (at least in the beginning), are totally the same in doom3 and quake 4. Same dark corridors, same weak mobs that charge or stand behind cover and fire at you. yeah, so you have squadmates, so what.. so far, all they seem to do is stand in front of you and take your friendly fire. I've killed 3 of my guys so far because they stand in front of me while i am shooting at the enemy and get hit.

Multiplayer is totally fast paced UT2004/quake3. Its definitely not the multiplayer quake 1/2 that I love where you sneak up on people and kill them.

Well, I beleive we are, but I think we're looking at it differently... I play ahead of the squad when I play so they back me up as opposed to obstructing me, and it appears that you are playing behind them. This makes my game experience different than your's. The main difference I feel with Quake4 as opposed to Doom3 is the speed of the gameplay, Quake4 has so far has a constant forward push that Doom3 did not have. I think that once you get over the fact that Quake4 has the same waxy look that Doom3 had and uses lighting and shadows extensively, it really takes on a completely different feel than Doom3. Doom3 required you to be a flashlight ninja, which was an integral part of the game - Quake4 doesn't have that. Also, having the squad medics with you changes the fact that you aren't constantly looking for health as you are in most FPS's.

As far as the MP goes, it was designed to be like Quake3 in style, and id/Raven didn't hide that fact. Quake3 was never a sneaking/camping kind of MP game, but that is really a matter or personal preference not a game quality issue.

I saw an interview with Todd Hollinshead a few days ago, and he said that they pulled the best from Quake2 for the SP, and the best from Quake3 for the MP. Personally, I think that assessnent is right on the money.

I am enjoying this Quake4 game.

It's everything I had hoped Doom3 would be. Improvements over Doom3 are too numerous to detail but they fixed all of the things that bugged me about it.

Really enjoying the SP too which is a bonus because I bought it for the MP. Looking forward to a Rocket Arena Mod for it but that will probably take a year or so to come out.

F.E.A.R. and Serious Sam 2 are gonna start growing dust now that I have tried Q4.

I imagine someone will make it. I'm buying the game primarily for the hope of eventually getting to play RA4.

Yes, if you liked Q3, chances are you will like Q4. I have not played Q3 in quite a while, and playing Q4 MP brought back an almost nostalgic feeling.

I was so stoked to play it when i returned from school today but guess what nothing was there!!!!!!!!! It clearly stated shipped on the 18th well....with overnight shipping it f*ckin calculates out to umm TODAY!!! I apologize for my language but i am extremely pissed off right now. Any suggestions to how to get my game today? Im thinking about calling customer support or something and demanding them to give me a copy in my local store now. im so pissed i could kill someone right now.

Or does overnight shipping deliver late? right now 3:04pm currently.

They still should deliver it today nextman if you got the overnight shipping and they shipped it yesterday. If they don't deliver it today make sure you get a refund on the shipping. Next time you might want to try the instore pick up they offer, if you have an EB store close. I chose that method and it was in the store yesterday and I picked it up yesterday. Plus you don't have to pay shipping fees for instore pickup

Or you could just go to the local Best Buy and pick it up today like I did. It seems like its been a while since I've wanted a software title and not been able to pick it up the day its released (hardware is a different story.) For this reason, I haven't pre-ordered any software in a while, just ends up being more of a pain.

Well I'm enoying the SP game quite bit so far. Its much better than Doom, IMO. It is pretty linear but there is a lot of action and no having monsters jumping out trying to scare you and stuff like that. There are some places where the atmosphere is dark, but its not as dark as Doom is. I've only had to use the flashlight a few times. One thing I like about this game is the flashlight is attacked to your machine gun, so when you need to use it you still have a weapon to use at the same time. Even though a lot of the action is indoors it doesn't seem as cramped and dark as Doom and there are plenty of sequences outside also. I wish Doom had been something like this, I couldn't even finish Doom but I am really enjoying this game so far. I got the DVD version also, so I was playing some Quake II also. So if your looking for a good single player game I would recommend this one.

Okay I just beat the game! It was great.... loved the SP all the way through. The end is hard as hell... you guys wait until you see the big bosses. The tower guard and more. They are ****** huge. Excuse my french. Great game... and now I have MP to continue the fun. Started playing last night around 6, stopped around 10. Started playing today around 3 and just finished 2 minutes ago.

And it left it open for another sequal!

Now off to play some MP!

Glad to hear you liked the game, that puts my mind at ease somewhat about my intent to purchase it. I am a bit concerned about what seems to be the somewhat short gameplay though, if you did finish it in about six hours of gameplay... I don't tend to play for so many hours on end though, so it might not be "that" short
