The official "Starting my own business" thread, but need help with pricing!

i admit that i am not good with peoople, but it seems i am better than you are, and hell, you call yourself a people person.

if this how you act at 3AM, think about working on somebody's computer at 3AM or 5AM when you told them it will be done tomorrow and things not working out the way you planned, are you going to start flying off the handle with the machine? again, good luck i have worked since i was 10

so you are going to school, you are a manager of a restaurant and now you want to start your own business? most people that start their own business have the ability to do it with all of their time and energy. you are spreading yourself too thin, when are you going to get sleep? this is a recipe for disaster, but again this is my own opinion.

and people are going to judge you by the way you type in text, if you were not aware of it, but that is the only way we know you.

when you are in fortune drop us a line and tell us "i told you so"

one thing you may want to do is polish up your spelling and grammar skills, so when you bill people they will not think poorly of you. if you use things like i u and ur when in business, you will not be for long.
also prepare for liability with insurance to protect you in case you get sued, which i have an odd feeling is likely too happen to you when you botch up a job and overcharge them. i do not know anything about running a computer business, but my wife and i own a veterinary clinic.
and grow a backbone, if you can not put up with criticism, you are not ready for the real world.

my wife is the vet, i handle the computers and accounting, and anything else she is not in the mood to handle. but i will be glad to give this to her and get her opinion, and pm you back or respond to your thread. I dare not wake her at 4 am...
but i will be more then glad to follow up with you in the morning once she is awake.

wow, now u think im actually going to get mad at my customers/computers too....lol bob man, what can i say, i guess a whole lot of nothing, tho i do prefer catching the bad mouthing u have to say, it just encourages me more to be the best at this....dealing with people on FORUMS who dont pay my bills is different from a customer paying them, so I guess I should now get mad at them...ok, mental not taken!

so you get mad at the people that were trying to help you out, and didn't tell you that you are right? so i guess you only give kudos or respect to people that do pay your bills.... sad, sad, sad, but typical.

Nope ... just a normal FS/FT deal here ... bought a Netvista and AIO printer from him ... nice kid !
Bob, he did appear very confident of himself ... I dont know about arrogant but i'll give him a plus for actually doing it !
We were all young and full of confident in ourself like that once and damn it ... I miss it
So give the kid a break ... an honest advice is one thing but a prejudice comment based on personal failure/unssuccess experience is not what he need right now.
Check out his web site and FS/FT thread ... I dont think he get the price structure all figured out yet or following procedure ...

vo, i agree with what you are saying but for some reason he just rubbed me the wrong way, that is why i was/am the way i am toward him. you can see from the second post i this thread that was from me, it wasn't hostile toward him at all, that came after all of his smack talking to others that were trying to help him out. as always i wish him the best of luck
