So LANMAN.. are there any other motherboards that we can use for this project? I could probably send in some single processors combos if so - most are in the p2-266 to p2-350 range.

I have the initial crack rack being designed for six motherboards, so we have enough to almost fill the first shipment! All the mounts will be designed for fitting only ATX style motherboards. (Just FEI) What do you think NM, do we want to power those boards? If we have extra shelves not being used, I sure won't turn you down.

The draftsmen just called me this afternoon. She has the design ready for preview, so we have a definite on the six unit limit. I'll keep you all posted.

UPDATE: 3:45pm (Central Time)

I saw the CAD pic today and she has some modifcations to do. She was going to mount all six boards on one shelf then have them screwed down to the main shelf. I had her change that to allow each motherboard to be removed independant from each other (can you say BLADE? ), but keep the power supplies stationary in the back. (Power supplies will have to be disconnected from the motherboard in order to slide out each motherboard.) I'll be in a meeting all day tomorrow, but she said they would have version #2 ready by tomorrow.

Its true.

I have a total of 4 400MHz XEON processors and 1 500MHz Xeon processor all with 1MB of cache and also one dual processor retension bracket. If you have a use for them I would donate the other processors for minimal compensation. I'm willing to donate two of them and the retension bracket free of charge but to get rid of all of them I would need a little more motivation.

Yeah, LANMAN, I've got a few more combos here(ATX) that I can send up if you think we a) have the space, and b) can use them.

Am i right in thinking that the "retension bracket" is the thing that sticks out of the board on either side of the processors, like on the Slot 1 boards? If so, then that is not needed (providing i can get this board) as it has that already

This board also has onboard SCSI, so any offers of SCSI hdds will now be able to have a home

I will make another count on how many motherboards we have. I'm pretty sure we don't have the rack full, but I really think you all are just wanting me to get two shelf units right from the start! :Q (12 Mobos? Whew.. thats some heat!)

Havent heard anything for a while. How is it going on?

I called the draftsmen yesterday to get an update and she said she was still making the changes. She had a priority project come up so I gave her permission to put us back a day. However she said I would have draft #2 today, but I haven't seen anything arrive in my email yet.

I don't think we'll need to change anything else, so I'm hoping she'll have a final draft at the beginning of next week and then release the blue prints to the engineers. Everything after that is ....cracking time! Especially after RC5 is done!! WHoooo hoooo!

Strange price the 9.90 may be a misprint of a 2 missing. They still get 29.90 for K6-500 clearance sale so I have feeling they really meant 29.90 for the clearance of the celery too.

I just got the second CAD drawing from the draftsmen and it looks like a go. I emailed her back to go ahead and produce a prototype and run the figures on what it will cost per unit.

I will keep you posted...

But if your like engineer.. I don't need to post much.. he already knew I'm within bounds to flush my SETI Queue;

What else does he know??

The draftsmen said she can quote 1-5 units then 6-10 unit purchases, however the quote department was a little busy yesterday so they might
be able to get me a few numbers today.

Do we have any need for some PCI video cards?
