We must live in the same house. I don't have enough room to change my mind.

I've started mounting the systems on 12"x18"x1/2" plywood boards and hanging them on the walls like pictures

hehe I have a 4port KVM at my parents house to switch between the file server I built for them and the regular machine. I've been starting to think they need two more "failover" servers should the other one die to lighten my electric bill.

ROTFLMAO!

Hellburner taking people on a tour of his house: Here we have a late 1999 SDRam model...see the slight use of green that cover the brilliant copper traces....and the designers use of symetry in the layout of the capacitors

/me wonders if my wife would go for this? :Q

(Hey...my wife said that if I would move my oldest daughter to the spare room....then move my youngest daughter to that room..then I could have my youngest daughters room for a computer room.. Would have to add a window AC unit and maybe a new circuit on the breaker box...but I could just imagine the possibilities...especially since I already have 10 PC's running in various places in the house...and NONE are in that room yet! :Q

Thanks Shux, LANMAN and everyone else dedicated to this project...sounds great!

I don't have much to donate right now...just built 2 systems....will build another this weekend and have ordered a motherboard to replace my dead Celeron 1000's home...so I'm parted out....but will look around!

Hey Hellburner...if you want to keep your spot in the TeAm rankings (look behind you :Q)...I would suggest you hang about 50 new pictures this week...as TransWarp AV is nearing final testing! :Q

Well, I could start the tour with some TRS-80's with their 8" floppy drives or maybe a Color Computer with it's audio tape storage system, then the 8088 series motherboards @ 4.77 Mhz with the massive expansion cards with dozens of RAM chips to bring it up to 640k.... I really should clean out the garage one of these days

I also have plenty of room in the basement if you need another place to house stuff.

Also, lots of spare parts. I should be upgrading a couple of systems over the next 2 or 3 weeks and moving up from athlon 550s, but that would leave a couple of athlon 550 mobos, chips, and ram spare. I'll rummage around and see what else I can find, probably a bunch more nics, maybe some more pci video.

You need NICs? You know where to come. I can probably do about 3 (havent had chance to look in my parts box yet)

Let me know

Note: I am in the UK so shipping is not cheap - please only ask for the items if they are actually going to get used. (Yeah, I have an aborted (not started/finished) crack rack project too)...

Holy cow.... Thanks to the Mod's for making this sticky and thanks for the TeAm effort.

How do we feel about a mixed platform Beowulf?

I will Update the list of contributed items and see where we are. So far we have a place to house it but need to donate some shelveing or money towards that.

We need an email account for the Beowulf to run under, I can set one up for it as I am sure a bunch of folks could.

We need a name for the Beowulf.

BBR seems to think we stole this idea......

"they talk about building a "TeAm Anandtech BEOWULF for S@H". They mention wanting to use a lot of ABIT boards, and have many differing opinions on how to set one up, how to pay for it, ect., but don't as of yet seem to have much organization."

I'll send $20 (paypal) towards the shelving/racking(or misc parts), just need to know when and where to send it. Has it been decided for sure that LANMAN is hosting this? If so, we'll just need an address so we can send the Parts and $$$(if people don't use PayPal and still want to donate )

Well, I have some credit with an online vendor from some defective merchandise that I returned. They would not give me a refund. :disgust: It is not enough for the stuff I need to get, and I really do not want to order from them again, but I might use it for some memory or something towards the project.

Wow, I did not realise the cost of name brand PC100 was still so high in some cases. I may not go with the name brand stuff, can get more that way. I also may want to ship it directly to the person doing this when I order it, as it makes no sense to ship it to Alaska then ship it back to the Lower '48.

Shuxclams, I can donate 2 sticks of 128MB of PC100 PNY RAM. I think the RAM may be 133, but that shouldn't matter right?

Shux, put me down for the 3 NICs I mentioned. If you want details I can grab them up for you.

Let me have a proper look - might even have some video cards.
