just found out the x1 tour is gonna be 5 minutes from my house this weekend. had no clue until i checked out the map, and clicked on baltimore to see where in bmore it was, then i see it shows the gamestop near me that is like 40 miles from baltimore, but like 10 miles to dc. not sure why it's not in the dc listings.

gonna check out killer instinct on saturday most likely. gonna take my x360 joystick and see if it works on the dev box, because there have been reports that old MAS joysticks for 360 work on the dev kits.

Yeah, and the PS4 only accepts HDDs that are 2.5" and less than 12.5mm height which means no 2TB drives as they are all 15mm from what I've found. Damn...looks like I'll be uninstalling games I am not playing. At least eventually I'll go to 1TB in the PS4 and add an external tucked away for the XB1 if I need.

Thankfully the game sizes won't really affect me, but I can certainly see them becoming troublesome for some. I never play more than 2 games at a time and typically only buy maybe 4 or 5 games a year. I won't fill the hard drive within the first year and when I finally do, I'll just delete what I don't play anymore.

yeah i'm no forza guru but i'll give it a go i'm sure it looks great. will be focusing on killer instinct for sure and see if i can actually gain some skill if i have a decent amount of time playing it. i do know that if i have to use a controller it's gonna be rough using bumpers for it lol.

some neat info about the ki fight stick interacting with kinect.

The Mad Catz Killer Instinct Arcade FightSticK TE2 has a 'Controller Pairing' feature that allows infrared LEDs in the FightStick to interact with the Kinect sensor. Doing so will allow for custom settings (button mappings/saved options) from within the game to be attached to your Gamer Tag profile.

VGLeaks has some information (1 2) on game install size:

Call of Duty Ghosts: 49GB
Ryse: 47GB
Forza 5: 35GB
Dead Rising 3: 35GB

To note, the Call of Duty source was from the PlayStation 4 copy, but you would probably assume that they'll be the same.

All I can say about this is... ouch. We're going to be eating through our hard drive space like crazy! There doesn't seem to be any indication that these are optional installs. At least the X1 lets you use USB drives, but to be honest, I don't like the idea of slapping external HDDs off any of my consoles (PS4 doesn't support it anyway).

With typical US Internet speeds + caps, I don't think too many people will be availing of the PS4 and XB1 direct download options. I have Fios Quantum and Time Warner (don't ask, haha), and I'm not even going to consider it unless the disc version is a lot more expensive. 40-50GB over even 75mbit is a PITA, I don't want to waste my speed on something I can just have shipped to my house for free. I am a box/manual whore though.

Haha, I'm going to make a special trip to GAF to see the response. The X1 version is more contrasty and sometimes looks more sharp, brightness seems a bit lower though.

I agree the x1 version looks like it has higher contrast. But I have noticed that between 360 and ps3 as well.

That was because the 360 had overblown gamma levels.

That's what I'm thinking.

Of the games to show the graphical differences between the two systems, BF4 is not the one to use anyway.

Need at least a good 1-2yrs of releases before devs start picking up on the tricks to coding for the new platforms, and when X360 and PS3 start to fade from the picture.

It may not be that. As I said the 360 has overblown gamma. When I calibrate my plasma for blu-ray, the 360 always looks different than my ps3 and stand alone blu-ray player would with the same video file on the same input which goes through my receiver. It has darker blacks that lose some detail. If this is not accounted for by a developer and the same game is shown it will appear as you see in this video. Perhaps the xb1 is doing the same thing. It is not outputting a neutral image over HDMI. It is not necessarily a bad picture overall but I prefer a more neutral look with the extra details in the shadows to be visible.

All that matters is how good the games are. Which one looks better is irrelevant.

Who said infinitely better? Not one person on any article or forum I visited and read has said something like that flat out.
