Watching Ryse, the removal of the big button pop ups for QTE are amazing. They made the enemy have a colored outline.

The fitness stuff doesn't seem bad either. They include a lot of workouts with Xbox Live.

It looks like they took the game engine and tossed it through a post process filter with extra depth of field and such for dramatic effect.

They could have just have everything rendered in engine. I think a lot more developers are going to start doing this as the engines get better and better. Gone are the PSX days where the CGI is lightyears ahead of the game engine.

I didn't say CGI and I did say they used the game engine. What it looks like though if you examine them, is they blur out the background using DOF and add more motion blur. It's definitely sharper when looking at the gameplay screens. Battlefield 4 does something similar. The cutscenes make heavy use of motion blur for effect. The actual gameplay is much cleaner but loses the cinematic style. I think this is pretty much how most games are doing things these days except perhaps some RPG games that may still use CGI for the big cutscenes,

Yeah and I bet knack will be free later on psn plus. I never played killer instinct or forza but if I were getting an Xbox one at launch I probably would not want either. Maybe killer instinct over forza.

Does KI have a story or campaign at all? It's expected though, 360 had better launch games than ps3.

No it does not. Straight up competitive, head-to-head fighting game, that's it.

ki is GOING to have a story mode. ms basically rushed double helix to get it out for launch, and they wanted to get the engine down before they started working on the single player. so their focus has been on the engine and some characters. they didn't even have enough time to get all 8 charactesr ready for launch, so you get 6 at launch, and then down the road in december or early 2014 the other 2 characters, along with the single player mode.

lol so another update on the stupid ass $20 promo code...

called again tonight and spoke to someone, once again put on hold so he could talk to his supervisor about it. came back said that the manager is goingt o personally follow what is going on with the code being sent, and that it will be 24-48 hours. so of course i got annoyed and i asked the guy why the hell it takes so long, it's an email. and he was like "im not going to even try to bs you man i have no clue, but i am not in that department so i cant tell you". he said he was certain if i didn't get anything in 48 hours they would call me.

so i said f-it and ordered one online to pick up in store tomorrow since i'm going to eat lunch right near there. i ordered to my wifes email just so in case something happened where my email was blacklisted or something, that she would get it.

so about 10 minutes ago in my own personal email (the one i've been waiting all along for) i got an email from them with a code. figures, as soon as i order a new one, i get the code.

so i enter the code right now, and turns out they sent me a 12mo xbl code instead of the $20 promo code. so i guess it's not too bad, i got 2 years + shadow jago + the day1 card for $60. not bad, $30/yr.

i cancelled my other order with best buy just now so i'm good to go i think.

fuck best buy i won't be shopping there for a while unless it's some crazy deal. talk about a hassle.

not sure what you mean about not meeting the requirements. it's right there on the description in listing on the website. when they rang me up, on the display on the computer, i saw it with my own eyes say "MICROSOFT $20 PROMO CREDIT - $0.00" in the green letters on the black background.

Just because it's on their website does not mean it applies to the store. Hell, the prices aren't even the same sometimes, and you have to go through the hassle of price matching those. If you didn't see any notification of the deal being available in the store other than some cryptic screen pop up, then you might not have been able to get it.

Frankly, I think it's unfair to place the blame on them without you having any indication that you should have gotten it. Not that people don't always attempt to place unreasonable expectations on companies/business all the time anyway (just look at some of the pathetic arguments against Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo) -- it's the 'murikan way!

So if a company says, "Hey, it's cool, we'll give you $20" and never delivers, you think you don't have the right to call back and say, "Hey, where's my $20?" That's essentially what happened. As soon as Best Buy said they'd honor the $20 code, it doesn't matter where he bought it at that point, Best Buy needs to pay up.

Sounds like mail in rebates. You mail it in, wait 6-8 weeks, and they never deliver. I've had that happen a few times, so I don't even bother with them anymore.
