Sounds like mail in rebates. You mail it in, wait 6-8 weeks, and they never deliver. I've had that happen a few times, so I don't even bother with them anymore.

i had no clue why this auto-formatting of this best buy link links to the listing WITHOUT the thing on it. search for the sku 9926568 on best buys website and you will see the listing that has it right in the middle of the page.

I am with you on bitching until I get what was promised. I was just giving an example of companies that are notorious (at least, they were) for not living up to what they promise.

Yeah, I don't think they were trying to pull the wool over anybody's eyes, as much as other gaming forums try to make it out to be. Somebody didn't do their due diligence before posting it.

So, if the NFL app is anything like this TNF game is showing, it is going to be good. Even if I can just HDMI passthrough to TV while it display scores and such, I will like it.

Have to say, despite not liking what MS has done with the XB1 up to this point, I'm impressed by this video. I don't need or want most of the features they are promoting here but it does look cool to say the least.

Kinect still looks creepy to me though. I love the tech but maybe it's my paranoia setting in.

To be fair, they did show that using the controller works just like before. I just don't like whole "I'm watching you" vibe Kinect seems to give me. *shrug*

Yeah but like how they searched for HBO channel for example, I wonder what they could do for that.

I am wondering. What if I am talking to someone and not the kinect and I say "I am watching HBO"? Will it switch over when I don't want it to or is there a keyword it will have to pick up?

pretty sure you have to say "xbox" before the xbox starts to pick up commands. i'm not positive about this, but all of the voice commands i've seen, they always start with saying "xbox" first, and then you can see the icon in the corner of the screen let you know it is listening.

i didn't see that video up above though, so if it's different in that one, then my bad.

At the risk of sounding like a Xbox fanboy (I'm sure many here already think I am), that looks f-ing sweet. This is one of the reasons I'm choosing it over the PS4. Using voice isn't as weird for me as it was when the first Kinect came out.

If it uses the same connector the first Kinect did, I think you could use that. It looks like a 1394 port, but is different.

So with the system requiring a day one update to function does anyone think you would be able to update it via a disk? Let's assume the servers are crammed and the download keeps stopping or just takes forever. Would you be able to say download the update to a disk or something early and let the system update from there?

I don't see why not. If MS was smart, the would push the day one update onto game discs like they've done with updates in the past.

Sony is doing the same thing. Call them ask if you can have a disk shipped to you.

I am just thinking that I am going to bring my system from the store right to my buddies house. I would hate to spend all night trying to get it to update and not get to play anything. Maybe it won't be that bad though.

Microsoft already said they expected the download/install to take no longer than 10-15 minutes, so it can't be that big of an update.

MS is using their Azure servers for XBL now I believe, so there really shouldn't be a problem. They pride themselves on no downtime (and the only downtime article I can even find on them was from a leap year bug - those still exist?). I'd say they are pretty stable. Now, bandwidth might be lower due to demand, but the update isn't very big (according to MS), so it shouldn't take all night. At worst, it will be like a PS3 update. >_>
