Is it really not 1080p, or is it just the initial games are not? From reviews it says NFS is 1080p on X1.

I think over time all games will be 1080p.

I think most gamers are migrating to projectors these days, where it's easier to see the difference between 720p and 1080p. So it will be a total shame and sham, if they can't maintain 1080p.
Yeah down the road we will see more 1080p on xb1. I assure you most of these consoles will never be used on a projector; most have and will stay with flat screens.

Further to exdeath's points: I think a lot of people will switch to ps4 this gen, at least initially. I am because:
- more powerful
- cheaper
- do not care a lick about the hdmi switching and tv and nfl integration, which appeared to me to take time away from game focus

So far ps4 is killing it. This may change, and I won't say I will never have an xb1.

Above comment I agree wit this TV integration frankly strange. Cable subscriber rates are crashing and even satellite is struggling. And what demographic are they falling hardest with? The same one that plays a lot of games on consoles: 18-40 year old males. Three months ago I dropped pay TV for the first time in my life and won't go back, ever.

Some games are said to run lower res than PS4 version, this will turn off spec junkies who only buy spec sheets.

xbox1 does 1080p just fine. some of the launch games aren't rendered at 1080p though, but neither are some of the ps4 ones and they are just upscaled.

forza 5 is natively 1080p.

gotta love the spread of misinformation!

hmm. why not? I'm specifically talking about the gamer market, not the "everyone else" market. You're supposed to be about the latest tech, and projectors have been out 20 years. Stop promoting old tech!

BenQ W1070, 1080p projector, recent technology, new - $850. No $850 TV will compete, even with ambient light.

TV is meant for great rooms (and kinect/move games), 12+ windows. Most houses are not like that. If you have not gone projector yet, I feel sad for you. 95% of the image quality at 3-4x the size, for half the price.

You're wasting your money on TVs, projectors are not a "small segment" of the market anymore, and they are effing cheap comparatively. You are not living on minimum wage if you're buying a PS4 or X1 at launch, you are not 10 years old.

Drop my dick here, here's my 15ft wide scope (2.35) projector. keep gaming on your 46"er (wtf).

140" for $1000, single frame input lag (miniscule, 17ms):

You have even cheaper projectors that are 720p (optoma GT series) with no input lag. You're probably getting your ass sniped by them on your 26" monitor, hah!

Where I come from we measure screens in feet - not inches, join us. You're the reason and people who think there's no difference between 720p/1080p, and I'm the reason 4K resolution has already come to fruition.

Gaming on a monitor is a completely different experience than projector gaming. Based on your seating distance (usually on a monitor), you may choose to go smaller. I choose to do eyefinity.

not everyone has room to put a PJ in their house/apt/whatever. or wants to dedicate the space to it (light control and so on)

i live in a 4000 sqft house, there isnt a wall in here large enough to put a 15 ft screen on, just to give you an example (old house, built in the early 1800s)

Cute. A budget projector. Your first? At least try an AE7000 or something.

And 2.35:1 to play 16:9 game consoles on. Clearly superior.

Are you one of those people who paint their wall instead of buying a real screen too?

As long as we are being condescending jerks here...

I doubt "most" gamers have the space in their apartment living rooms to put a projector.

you forgot to mention his white walls and wire infront of the screen!

but seriously, you are insane if you think most games are migrating to projectors.

And the couch 3 feet from the screen, lack of proper throw or view distance, projector mounted 10 feet above the center of the screen and off axis, use of digital keystone correction, chroma aberration from too extreme lens shift, and probably runs 50 foot unsheilded composite video cables because HDMI repeaters and broadcast grade 75 ohm shielded coax component cable is too expensive.

Your e-dick is massive.

That looks nice.

Doesn't change the fact that you are completely wrong. Projectors are a tiny part of the market. TINY.

Now you can say tons of hardcore gamers have them by defining somebody who doesn't have one as not hardcore but I stand by my point that the majority--by far--of next gen consoles are not going onto projectors.

Thanks for bringing 4k to fruition single handily. You are a high res hero.

That's why there are no consumer 4k projectors but there are plenty of $1k 4k panels already :awe:

I love projectors myself, especially GOOD ones set up correctly, they are unmatched for size and image quality.

Beyond that, everything else is a disadvantage.

Spent the weekend at a friends house playing games. Yeah I totally packed my projector and perm wall screen into a 15 foot U Haul for 48 hours of dual screen coop...

Until you can see a projector screen as clearly as a TV screen in a brightly lit room, it will never happen. You would have huge TV's built into walls the size of projector screens before you'd see 50% of households with projectors.

P.S. 17ms is horrendous lag for (hardcore) gaming.

Depending on my work schedule I may be able to line up at 3 PM and wait also - thanks for the information! I don't know why the X1 wouldn't have a bigger following as IMO 360 killed everyone last generation?

Sony def. has the momentum right now, their launch was awesome and reports with the PS4 are pretty strong.

However, I tried my luck at selling my pre-orders on ebay, and I can tell you the X1 got all the love. It probably doesn't mean anything, it's just something I noticed. We'll see if it plays out.

Hoping I can find an Xbox One early Friday morning. I am not lining up at 3PM Thursday or going out at midnight. I got TNF to watch, even if it will be a one sided Brees rape of Atlanta.

I am hoping to score one this week too. I could care less which console has momentum and which one is more popular with a group of people I don't know and don't care about. I want Forza, Ryse, and Dead Rising. And the ps4 can't give me those.

If you want to save time, just check Amazon throughout the night. If you still want it by the weekend, you'll pay for Saturday shipping (probably will be about $12-15).

I may end up getting one of these if the Kinect is really good. I don't care about any of the launch titles, so I can hold off for now.

Saturday shipping is $7.99 per item for me. But, I pay $80 a year for it. >_>

Projector gaming is harder to do. I have 3 projectors and I almost never play on them. Plus my projector are not 1080p, theyre 1024x768, so kinda not worth it.. but 90" projector screen is pretty good.. would be better if it was 1080p

so I agree, I doubt lots of gamer are flocking to it at all..
