How long is this game? I've heard it can be finished in a short amount of time.

I was not impressed with the 3DS, battery life was weak, games were not that fun (IMO) and the handheld felt bulky. It made me miss my DS Lite.

Has anything gotten better?

3DSXL has really good battery life that I've seen.

while i am by NO means a ryse supporter, parts of the review like this kind of anger me.

Ryse’s biggest issue is that not even halfway through its modest six-hour campaign, you’ll have seen and experienced a vast majority of your offensive options. Combat consists of basic hits, bashes, blocks, and heavy attacks. In most battles, you can chain these actions together in nearly any order and still be successful, which remains fun until the flashy animations start to lose their luster. There is a system in place to land perfect attacks, but those too are easy to execute once you understand them.

What’s there isn’t at all bad, it just feels like a foundation for something far greater and more nuanced that never comes. Enemy variety does a bit of work to liven things up. Some foes are unblockable, some charge you, and some assault you with a flurry of dual-sword attacks. Dealing with them requires you to care about your blocks, attacks, and movements, which is fun until you figure out their repetitive patterns.

if they didn't tell me this was ryse, that would sound 100% IDENTICAL to the god of war games, yet those games always score extremely high (and i love them too).

angry birds star wars is $50? lol okay ... good luck with that, i can get it for like $2 on my phone (for both versions).

looking at the store and seeing all the games in one place makes me realize how lackluster the x1 launch titles are lol.

Won't know until tomorrow. I only have a DS Lite right now... playing through Chrono Trigger right now, that game never gets old!!

I haven't liked ANY 3DS I've used yet, I just think a portable Zelda game is worth the pain though. I picked up a couple other first party titles for when it arrives though.

The bigger screen will be a welcome at the very least... still have the original DS Lite.

DS Lite was something like 24 hours and stayed on standby for weeks. Just typing this, I am going to buy one now and purchase Chrono Trigger. I will buy a 3DS XL also with Zelda tomorrow just to join you.

3DS is higher resolution so DS games have to be stretched or letterboxed.

DSi XL = largest screen for 1:1 DS pixel art glory.

I picked one up for Radiant Historia despite having a DS Lite and a 3DS XL already.

Haha, awesome! Yeah I finally bit the bullet and ordered it for DS off Amazon instead of playing it on the emulator / SNES. They did a good job with it, although maybe I'm getting old, but the text seems small to me.

The Zelda system looks like it will be easily available, you can still pre-order it.

As far as battery life, I don't really care. As long as it lasts 2 hrs I'm good. I'm paranoid about keeping my stuff charged anyway.

Maybe I will pick one up. I'll see how bad the stretching is first. I'm pretty lenient, it doesn't have to be perfect. If the new gen systems stayed at 540p upscaled to 1080p, I'd be fine

My X1 has not been charged yet. I did ask for overnight shipping (stupid of me), so they waited until today to ship it. I should have done 2 day shipping like everyone else (prime), so it shipped and billed yesterday.

What I meant then was it was probably safer to do 2 day shipping, because Amazon has charged/shipped those out already (if you look earlier in the thread), because they had "guaranteed" a Friday delivery.

It would be a colossal fail if amazon did something where they sold more than they had, but they've definitely had shipping issues before.

They couldn't ship the overnighted consoles before today, otherwise we would have gotten them a day early - lol.

That's kind of what I was thinking. I mean, it looks to be on par with GoW and everyone loves those. I'm not a big fan of the genre myself. I can't play a GoW game because of the repetitiveness, and I wasn't really interested in Ryse because it looks like a GoW clone. They charge and ship according to where you live and how long it will take. I always get 2 day shipping and mine bill Thursday night for Friday releases.

No. God of war has varying attack styles based on the weapon in hand and the qte moments dont complete themselves. It is totally different.

There is also the fact that stringing together the correct combination of buttons will do unique combos and you unlock more as you go. This game doesn't seem to have that.

I found it odd that the store appears to only have the normal edition. If you go to the Smartglass app, it lists both normal (red background) and ultimate (yellow background). However, there is no "buy" option -- it just has "Get on Xbox One", which tries to connect to your X1.
