Yea I've never got the GS hate. There are plenty of other places to sell your games. I've never sold to them, but I've bought a lot of their used stuff pretty cheaply. It's a place for the impatient gotta have it now types. It's not GS's fault people have no patience.

If you wait for their trade in deals, you can get a decent amount but only when they have special deals when they give you much more like they did with the PS4.

I don't hate gamestop personally - i'm not dead set against B+M retail stores. I'll go there every now and then. However, since i'm generally never ever in a rush to get a boxed copy of a game or any type of electronics item, i'll happily just buy it from amazon tax free and with free 2 day shipping.

BTW CMD, just because amazon has a warehouse in your state doesn't mean your state is taxed - it is completely up to state law as to whether amazon taxes you. The laws as they are written are ambiguous enough that "retail sales presence" doesn't mean "warehouse presence" and as a result a ton of states are still tax free from etailers - Amazon has warehouses in nearly every state, including my own, and my state is still tax free. In fact, there are amazon warehouses 30 minutes and 2 hours away from me that i've received packages and items from on numerous occasions.

Anyway, I'm sure the tax situation will change sometime in the next decade, but until then I love amazon for electronic items. The best part is their CS is absolute superb - if I ever need to return anything, it is on their dime and they will generally cross ship me another item at no cost. I love me some amazon. That said, their prices have been slowly creeping up over the past couple of years as to where they don't have much of a price advantage over B+M. Three years ago they had a huge price advantage, now? Not so much. But that price disparity is mostly on non electronic items, electronics are still generally cheaper on amazon (as long as you buy from amazon LLC and not a 3rd party..)

Well, they promote trades because it's part of their business, but most are perfectly fine with people saying that they don't wanna trade stuff to them. They just have to offer it. They take broken games too. Games that are scratched and don't work even. I bought a bunch of scratched 360 games that had that ring from the laser on them and Gamestop took every one minus a "refurbishing fee". I ended up with $80 credit for a stack of games I paid $20 for since they were essentially non working.

If they offer you $15 for a recent title you can always refuse and keep it. The thing is, at least in my area, there's only one best buy that does trades and a lot of people want the new games right now without shipping. People sometimes bring a few old games they haven't touched in months and get a few bucks off the new title. If they take the $12 or whatever for each game plus any special offers they can sometimes walk out with a game half price. That's not bad for someone on an extreme budget but wants to play the latest GTA or whatever.

It may depend on how you look at it. Offering low value seems like a rip off but it's always up to you to refuse.

Well currently we don't pay any taxes from amazon but I've heard that is changing. I hope not cause I buy lots of stuff from them outside of video games.

Gamestop isn't so terrible... I've found plenty of obscure $30-50 games for $5-15 on PSP and DS and have accumulated thousands of points so I'm getting Zelda and SM3DW tonight for free essentially. Misinformed prices on obscure titles combined with the 10% member discount combined with accumulating rewards points = coming out far ahead of eBay prices.

I got Radiant Historia for $17 and an original print Xenoblade for $40 before they jacked them up to eBay prices.

As long as you don't trade them your games and you stay away from their used Mario/Pokemon/CoD games that have a "popularity tax" or what I just call the "Mario tax", there are decent deals.

What is pissing me off now however is now they throw away DS and PSP cases and manuals while still charging eBay mint complete in box prices for bare carts, to make room for all the skylanders and infinity garbage. And their little Xenoblade/Metroid Trilogy scandal where they had the games REPRINTED and then open them and sell then as used at the inflated $90+ eBay prices. Probably going to stop shopping their soon for those reasons alone.

Ya I dunno how they magically found copies of xenoblade floating around like that. Seems quite odd tbh.

I hate when games go under the radar but were exclusive or whatever and when you find out about it, game is gone.

I don't mind shopping at gamestop. Recently they hired new employees that are friendly and helpful. I never trade my games in because by the time I do so they are not worth much. When I was visiting in Texas they had many other game stores that sold used games for even less than gamestop, same for new titles too. I forgot what it was called. But the place was huge.

Where I live, gamestop is like Comcast, they are everywhere. We used to have an eb games but they were bought out and they turned it into a gamestop store.

They contracted reprints from a third party and in order to sell them at eBay prices, since they are legally obligated to honor MSRP new, they tear them open before putting them on the shelf as "used". Absolutely dishonest and scandalous.

Then they cry "but we are giving gamers what they wanted", no they wanted you to restock them new for $49.99-59.99 so they DONT have to pay eBay prices retards. Completely defeated the purpose.

Now they have all these copies of Xenoblade nobody is dumb enough to pay for because the target market for a game like Xeno in the first place is niche gamers and collectors like me who know about Gamestops BS and won't buy on principle, and its not the kind of game a random shopper or mainstreamer pays a second look to.

Anybody who would seek this game knows about this. Not to mention average gamestop shopper isn't going to pay $90 for an obscure used Wii game on an outdated system that isn't produced anymore, so I have no idea what they were thinking with this.

Metroid Trilogy is another one, and possibly Fire Emblem for Wii as well.

I got Tales of Graces F from them too at $17, lately they've jacked it up to $40 for reasons unknown. If they start just randomly preemptively applying RPG tax knowing that those are the games that tend to become valuable, I'm probably done with Gamestop.

There's 12 Gamestops (I think) within 20 minutes of me. Two within 5.

Starting setup now. The box is super heavy. Probably twice as heavy as the PS4 box. It comes with more but it almost ripped Gamestop's bag lol.

EDIT: Alert here for Harmony Remote users. My Harmony One works with the Xbox One natively with no Kinect hooked up. Let me clarify, in the harmony setup software I told it I have an Xbox One and programmed the remote to turn the inputs etc. It turns on my console without any extra IR receivers and no Kinect plugged into the system at all. I'll test the controller a bit once it completes the update.

edit 2: It works (the remote) but only if I set the activity as watching a dvd. otherwise I cannot get the remote to scroll the menus etc. Subjectively the Blu-Ray quality is pretty good. Seems on par with PS3 and PS4. Just no 3D yet.

I hate you. Dead Rising 3... Bastard sellouts Capcom, wonder how much cash MS greased their palms with.

Sigh I just can't bring myself to get a BroBox for one or two games again. Think MS will expand its horizons this time or will they stick to their target market again?

Want both...really do...

The ps4 sold out everywhere day one. As far as I know, no one has gotten a second shipment. Think this thing will sell out everywhere Friday?

Probably will. People who couldn't get PS4 likely want this now.

For what it's worth, despite being a gimmick I'll never use that often...the kinect QR code thing is highly convenient when the XB1 doesn't support USB keyboards.

1AM, my X1 has not shipped or charged from amazon yet. They dropped the ball. Nice amazon, oversold... knew something was wrong. Notification is so late now that I can't score one locally.

EDIT:
We are writing to inform you that, due to a surge in demand that exceeded limited supply on Wednesday, November 20, we have had to replace your order of the "Xbox One: Day One Edition" with the similar "Xbox One: Standard Edition". We recognize that the standard edition doesn't include the commemorative controller or Xbox Live achievement, and exterior packaging will be different. You may experience a 1-3 day shipping delay. To compensate you for this change, we have taken $50 off your existing order which will be refunded to your payment method within 2-3 business days.
To track your order, or if you would like to cancel or return your order based on this change, please visit the Contact Us page here: https://www.amazon.com/contactus
Again, we apologize for any inconvenience.

What the freak? The jimmy Fallon screens look amazing compared to the others. Weird. Also, if gladly take the $50 for a slight shipping delay!

The reviews still say it looks amazing.

Also...using youtube to compare anything in the graphics department is extremely laughable.
For using it to compare texture quality I agree. But it's a sufficiently high quality source if you want to look at lighting/shadows and post processing. Or for that matter any major changes in geometry.

Looks like some people are having disc drive issues. Guess both consoles launched with gremlins.

I'm shocked! Oh wait, no I'm not. No such thing as a 0% failure rate with new product introductions, especially electronics.
