Why? It's selling fine and you know, people can just never plug it in. At least this way they get it out there and knowing every system has a Kinect with it, they can try to sell it to developers.

It's product tying. The whole point of a console is to offer better value for money than PC gaming. Kinect is unnecessary and shouldn't be forced. If i don't need to have it plugged in, why should i be forced to buy it? Also, most real gamers know it can never truly work for proper games. I'm really disappointed with Micro$oft. Most gamers don't want to shout at their TV or wave their arms around, they want to play games!

It's not impossible to think about a kinectless SKU someday. But it will depend on long term demand. Demand is already softening for these new consoles, but really next year will be the real test. They're selling through everything they make this year within a few days (as opposed to the massive presell numbers and insta-sells that started this out). I'm starting to see XB1s sitting on the shelves in multiple locations (DFW), PS4 will probably do the same before long.

It's all $$ for the equation. If Microsoft sees that XB1 sales are lagging PS4 during the next year, then they will consider it. I actually think it's more likely that they'll just lower the price to match personally, but we will just have to wait and see.

The economic situation is paramount. It's easy for people to forget, but not everyone can afford $400 and $500 for a new console. A lot of that segment only bought a PS3 or 360 during the past 3 years due to those finally dropping into the $200-$300 range (the number in which the majority of consoles have sold during the last half-dozen gens at least).

Seriously, look at 360 numbers once a good SKU dipped under $300! Look at PS3 numbers for the same. And much of that was with an economic downturn even more serious than current.

2014 may only see bundles, but it really depends. Historically Q1-Q3 are a dead zone though. Wait and see for sure

MS will drop the price and lose money before they release a Kinectless SKU. They are not going to fracture their userbase of Kinect and Kinectless consoles. You can choose to not use the Kinect, but the developers are going to be able to assume YOU, at least, have one.


And 90% of the Kinect integration in games IS good and welcomed in my opinion. If you really think it is better to go 3 menus deep to do a substitution in Fifa, you're not particularly smart. It is far more intuitive to say it and you can do it WHILE playing.

Record that is only 30 seconds. But you can go to the game DVR and do up to 5 previous minutes. Also the start record can do up to 30 minutes I think.

It only allows me to save 5 min when I do an end here. Do you mean to say the only way to record longer is to manually start it and end it? When I first tried it to show my friend what killer instinct was (he has a ps4), I tried starting a recording before a match but it didn't seem to do anything. Do I have to start it and then unsnap the game DVR app? I did not try that. They don't make it very clear to me.

I will say that I prefer how the ps4 does it. It records the last 15min and I can grab and trim it as I need. I dont have to tell it to start or end. It seems easier that way for me rather than having to remember to start a recording.

I think it's just the sharper angle of the grips that gets me. The thumbsticks are better, but it just feels more forced to hold it a certain way.

Overall, it wouldn't stop me from buying.

Maybe its me but I think the smaller thumb pads and taller sticks feel weird and I would prefer they had just kept the sticks from the 360 entirely. There are sharper angles on the controller though and that is what you are feeling and to me is the most apparent change when you first hold it since the 360 was much more rounded off. I am used to it now and can do everything with any game just fine. I dont necessarily prefer all the changes but since it is what we have, I am going to just have to accept it and play the games.

FIFA is for chavs. Anyway, my point is, not everyone feels comfortable talking to their console. Not everyone plays in their living room. Most people don't use voice commands on their phone. You should adhere to your name there dude. You are in denial. People who said kinect will suck and they will never talk to it are the same people on these threads who think it is actually a neat feature. Further you dont sell 2million consoles if you dont have something people want. So what if some people dont want kinect? They can leave it in the box.

The Xbone is selling out because of low supply rather than high demand. It's also a substitute for the PS4; which is in greater demand due to its lower price but better hardware, PS Plus, F2P games etc.

Only thing we know is both systems broke sales records in Nov, and they're in demand. How much demand for either is pure speculation. Need to give it a long time before we really know.

Low supply and not high demand? That makes no sense. If the demand was not high, it wouldn't sell. Simple as that. You don't sell 2 million+ units in the first two weeks without a high demand.

Here's my opinion on the entire dislike for the "forced" kinect inclusion: If you don't like the idea of having "1984" in your house, then don't hook up the kinect. Just because "Skynet" wants to watch you doesn't mean you have to let them, right? lol....

Seriously though, both consoles are selling out all over. The XB1 might be in stock while the PS4 isn't in some places, but that isn't the case everywhere. I've seen threads of people saying the PS4 was on the shelf but the XB1 wasn't. So, it depends on location, and it depends on what that area's demand is. I'm no expert in gaming demographics, but overall sales numbers say that both are doing great and there is obviously a demand for both consoles all over the country.

If you don't like the idea of the kinect being included, I'm sorry you feel that way. We all know it drove the price of the console up, but that doesn't mean you should have a choice in the matter. Until Microsoft allows a Kinect-free XB1 to sale, you have no choice. So do us all a favor and stop complaining about it. You can't spill your biased opinion in a pro XB1 thread and expect to not get some heat.

And... the almighty question I have is... Do you own both a XB1 and PS4? If so, then I'd say your opinion has more clout and backing. But, until you have both and have spent plenty of time with both, how can you say one console is better than the other? If you don't own both, you're a outsider looking in and you have no valid first hand impressions or opinion. What you're doing is going off pure speculation, which isn't worth anything really.

Xbox One is clearly aimed at the US market, not globally. Kinect only works well with a selection of languages and dialects. My point is, Xbone is clearly a work in progress, and even MS themselves are struggling. Everyone seems to have forgotten about what happened earlier this year. It's a rushed product with future potential, but i think that's why it's selling so well; for what it COULD be rather than what it can offer now

My point is that since both PS4 and Xbox One are sold out, we can't see the demand because it's limited by supply available. We have to wait until neither is sold out to truly see the actual demand
