yeah i'm playing on the hardest one that is unlocked at the beginning, which i believe is centurian as dagamer34 stated. it really isn't that hard other than dying a couple times at like 1 or 2 different parts.

I would love to write a BT/Plex/uPnP client as an app but I read the Developer's Kit site on xbox.com and apparently you have to provide information about your game (or app I guess) BEFORE you get an App ID and can start developing. I doubt I'd get approved.

Yeah, they've gotten more and more strict about who gets to develop. It is stupid. Sony (for the PS3) was notoriously bad about not giving out dev kits. I don't understand why companies do this. Even Razer forced me to apply 3 times to get their SDK for their keyboard that I already owned. Wtf?

I much prefer the iOS and Android models (moreso the Android model due costs to entry) wherein you download the SDK and then must be approved after development. Hopefully, MS go this route eventually.

I think the problem is they are afraid of massive sideloading of pirated apps. If you could easily enable your console as a developer console and run unsigned code, what is to stop you from downloading pirated copies and running them? It is a valid concern, but highly annoying to developers that don't really want to make a game, just mess around with the API (such as myself). =(

The Android (and I assume iOS) model work, because you can get the SDK and develop for free, but putting it on a device costs money. That still doesn't stop people from pirating apps, but gives developers the freedom to develop, regardless of intention to take their product to the marketplace. I know the Android SDK comes with an emulator, so you don't even need to load it to a phone. It would be pretty hard for there to be an Xbox One emulator with the SDK.

Is this a kinect game then? I can't find any confirmation to this using Kinect at all. I saw a short blurb about MS talking about Kinect with this game at Gamescom but the developer says it may not launch with kinect support.

It's not a kinect game, so don't let that stop you. Played a little bit this morning before work and it seems really fun.

oh i assumed it was a kinect game because it had you drawing stuff. i figured you did that with your hand or something. seems kind of odd to do that with a controller.

I barely got to play it, so I didn't see any of the drawing sections. In videos, it just kinda seemed like it would be a button press, not that you are actually drawing the image.

the 2 last .gifs up above looked like it was someone kind of controlling the pen to make the line. but it might be controlled by the controller who knows, i probably shouldn't have made that assumption. i was just googling and couldn't find out too much info in regards to it either.

That "xbox one taking over the living room" thread got me thinking. Do you think MS will develop a DVR app? If they could subvert the DVR functionality from the provider's settop box then you'd only need it for tuning the stations. They'd also have much more recording space than a typical DVR box I think. And they'd be one more crucial step closer to taking over the entire experience.

I think their goal is to get all the cable companies to support a VOD app that can will also feed live signals like the VZ FIOS.

You mean so the provider would have all of their transmitted content available on demand instead of at designated times?

purbeast i used an active USB extension cable with the original Kinect, 50ft (from monoprice) after reading a lot of people used it with the Kinect - it worked fine.

MS would love to, and many users would love it also... However, there's no way the cable/sat companies would ever allow it.

How could they stop them? The settop box has an hdmi output that the x1 can use as an input. Wouldn't that be akin to the TV stations in the past trying to prevent the widespread acceptance of the VCR?
