LOL, so what interface does it use?

Beats me.

Now that we’ve seen what’s inside the Kinect, we know what’s behind its improved performance. First, we have wide-angle 1080p colour and IR cameras, both coupled into the Southbridge chip in the main console.

To me that implies it is something more direct. Looking at the mainboard of the Xbox One itself the traces for the Kinect, USB, and HDMI all go straight to the southbridge, so it very well may be USB3.

Edit: Higher res images of the X1's motherboard make it clear it is USB3. I stand corrected.

wow ... max curse of the brotherhood is really good. it's got some really nice puzzles right off the bat. i'm a fan of the way they have little collectibles through each level too and the design so far is really good. i got to 2-2 and then stopped, but it's really good so far.

Bought one of the two at my local walmart last night. Wont be setting it up until Christmas day though. So far I only have Forza 5 but will be getting madden 25 and Ghost shortly.

I bought Ryse and wow the graphics are really, really good. Better than anything I played on the PS4 (though Killzone is pretty close).

I'm playing it on the hardest difficulty it let me pick and it hasn't been very challenging so far, but the combat is a lot of fun. Reminds me of the Arkham games, which is a very good thing. I haven't read any reviews but I know it got some bad ones - can't figure out why. I guess this is just my kind of game because I'm loving it.

Picked up Forza also. Really great game, though I wish I had a wheel to use with it. I can't believe the "official" one is $400! I have the 360 wireless speed wheel that I use with my PC, but I guess it isn't compatible with the One which sucks.

Forza has a lot of handicaps enabled by default that I need to disable (it auto brakes for you going into turns and stuff). I've never played a Forza game before but it seems like it would be hard to use manual transmission mode with a controller. Going to try it out tonight and see how it goes.

Yeah, Forza starts you off on the lowest difficulty (with assisted braking and steering). Shifting isn't particularly hard once you get the hang of it. Shifting with the clutch is actually faster than auto or shifting without one for some reason. I don't know why, but it is. The trick is putting like the upshift on X, downshift on Y, and the clutch on A. Then just hit X+A or X+Y at the same time to shift. It takes a little getting used to, but once you get the hang of it, you are faster than everyone else.

In forza with manual transmission people were able to hit the clutch and shift buttons at the same time to shift instantly. Supposedly this gave a big advantage to those who could do it. I have to use automatic myself lol

FYI, if you need a quick way to pause while playing the Kinect Sports Rivals demo just run forward toward the Kinect. It will pause the game because you are blocking the field of vision. My daughter discovered this because she kept inching forward during the races. She would move back to the couch next to me and then sure enough as the race progressed and she got more and more focused she would keep taking little steps forward. It's like when people who are using a controller move their entire bodies to "help" their player's movements.

How much can you play the rivals demo before getting bored? I think I got 10 minutes out of it, lol. Too bad they weren't ready for the full game at launch, classic Rare.

We played it for about an hour (me, 10 year old daughter, 7 year old daughter) and had some good laughs.

I feel the game probably hinges on that. As a 27 year old male, this game would probably not be a lot of fun to play by myself.

I think that like most Kinect games, it's more of a "party" game.

Definitely. The novelty would have worn off pretty quickly by myself.

I played it as a party game, those Kinect games are pretty fun. I wish Rare released the whole thing, I would have bought it - but for older gamers you're placing 1st place in a few minutes - and with just a single map/level, it's over quick.

Sam's Club has some One games for 35. I picked up BF4 and they had AC4, Just Dance, NBA 2k and a few others. There were no signs mentioning the sale but they rang up at 35

Welp....Xbox One officially broke only after 1 1/2 weeks or so. Left it on last night to finish downloading a movie. Got back from work and tried turning on, and wouldn't respond verbally. So, I tried the power button, and it lit up for about 3 seconds and promptly shut back off. Wouldn't power or attempt to power on again until I unplugged the power receptor into the actual unit. Unplugging from the wall socket didn't make a difference. It would just beep the start up sound but wouldn't turn on.

After contacting support, we couldn't troubleshoot past the power supply, apparently, orange is bad, white is good. Going through Amazon, I can't get a replacement until they receive my defective unit. After talking to support, this seems to be an issue for 1:1000 systems, according to the support guy. Not sure how accurate that number is, but I'm a little disappointed.

I think Ryse got poor reviews for 3 reasons:

1) Game is pretty short. Can easily be finished in 8 hours at normal difficulty.
2) Almost no variation in enemy types. There are probably 10 types at most.
3) Executions are set up such that there is no penalty for missing button presses and you can't pick what execution you do via button presses.

If there is a Ryse 2, I'd like to see them improve the combat system more such that there is more variety. Graphically, the game is pretty stunning.

What I hope happens is someone takes the engine used here (if crytek licenses their engine) and builds another game around it with a few tweaks. I can see all kinds of possibilities.

From what I've seen from it if FROM could get the engine and make a next gen Souls game. That would make me so happy.

That could be cool even though I don't like their two souls games. I think the Gothic art style could work to good effect with the engine.
