Is anyone else having issues resuming the XBOX ONE from standby?

Sometimes Kinect IR functionality simply doesn't work coming out of standby. Voice commands work fine, but the IR control is basically not working at all. My TV/cable box won't turn on automatically or respond to any commands from Kinect.

The only way to fix this is with a full reboot of the system. For now I have this fast startup disabled until they fix this as it is rather annoying to have to get up to restart the console.
Yeah, it seems to be a fairly common issue. It feels like an app management problem, like it's not clearing some cache, or killing apps often the enough.

I haven't run into that yet, but I did have a time where "xbox on" didn't work and I had to press the button. Might be related.

For some weird reason, when the Xbox One has a system update ready to install, the system will fully turn itself off. If you rely on the "Xbox On" command to turn the system on, you'll think it's broken until you turn it on with a button. Weird behavior honestly.

Yeah, I have been unable to explain why they would do this... It seems like they would want it to be seamless..

I had this happen after I had covered the IR blaster on the Kinect for a few hours. The IR blaster was interfering with my wireless headphones. After I removed the obstacle the blaster appeared to stop working. I ended up changing from Instant-On to Energy-Saving mode and rebooting the system. Since then it's been fine.

Finally hooked my Xbox one up after getting it for christmas.

So far not impressed...

- The TV passthrough feature just flat out doesn't work. It will say that it found a signal but just show a blank screen. Then intermittently say it lost the "signal." I gave up on this after an hour.

- Kinect doesn't work either. I have to repeat myself constantly for it to preform any voice commands. Also it never recognizes my face to sign in. The geniuses at MS decided the only way to allow an automatic login was with their faulty face-recognition software, so now I have to manually sign in every time I turn the machine on.

- Controllers have some ridiculous adapter so I can't hook my $300 headset/mixamp combo up to the system. All they had to do was add a headphone jack.

- What the hell happened to the controller? The 360 controller was perfect. This one's thumbsticks are too small, and the triggers are awkwardly curved and pinch my fingers.

So basically the biggest features that were supposed to give it an edge over the PS4 are either broken or non-functional. Hopefully they iron this stuff out.

First you have to calibrate the kinect. That should fix whatever it is not doing correctly. Once i did that it worked a lot better. Second they changed the headset port so they could provide digital audio through the controller. You can get surround right from the controller this way. They will have an adapter but it isn't out yet. We talked about this in the thread back in July or August. I am also waiting for the adapter to use my sennheiser headset. It is confirmed to be in the works but no release info. Third the tv functionality is not broken. Did you not see anyone in the thread talking about how it works and many of those people seem to like it. You likely have one of the boxes that dont currently work with it. You aren't the only one and there are way too many different cable and sat boxes to have them all working 100% on day one. They will continually update the software over time I am sure. The surround sound pass through for the tv functions is still in beta too.

There are some bugs and stuff to smooth out, but it isn't completely broken. Many of us have voiced our complaints about the controller, the friend list, the voice chat, and other software issues. Your major hangup on the kinect should be remedied by going through the calibration of it.

Yeah I figured some of this might have already been mentioned, I'm not going through 6,000 + posts though!

I initially had issues with the x1 picking up the TV signal through the HDMI cables and it seemed that the cables weren't seated fully in the HDMI In port on the back of the x1. I had to move it around a bit to make sure it was fully inserted before it registered the signal. It worked much better when I actually switched to another set of HDMI cables.

That's understandable. I only mentioned it because there was quite a stir when it was discovered that the connection changed and $200+ headsets would be rendered unusable on the new console.

Hrm...I dont have that problem. That could be tv related if you didn't remember to check your settings on a different input than you normally use.

My Kinect voice feature doesn't work worth a flip. Have to get almost right up on it. Granted I have a center channel speaker six inches below it but even with it muted it still doesn't work. With two kids and three dogs my house isn't typically quiet so I wasn't really planning on using it much.

I love the controller. The lip really makes you fingers stick. Not going to elaborate much on the video passthrough but it's a complete pass for me right now. I'll revisit in a year or two after some software fixes.

Netflix and other apps have been flawless. Xbox Live has also been pretty much perfect but seems to be infested with whiney screaming teenagers than PSN. Overall I'm very happy with it and can't wait to see how they grow the platform.

Only games I have is Ghosts and Forza. Had Ghosts for the PS3 and my son has it on the 360 and was surprised how much the graphics had improved. Nice for launch games.

i thought that unhooking my kinect would make it so that when playing online i wouldn't hear the other people talking into their kinect, but once again, ms fails with this and i can still hear them blabbering.

There isn't really much MS can do besides making the Kinect as mic default to off. It would be the exact same situation if they had a mic plugged in. Their voice communication is going to you via your speakers because you don't have a headset attached, I'd imagine. If you had one plugged into the controller (even if you're playing KI with a fightstick, you can have the controller on), it should divert the voice communication to the headset.

yeah but i kind of assumed, how with the x360, if you plugged in your headset, the volume would default to the headset. if you unplugged it, it would default to the speakers.

i was assuming that if i don't have a kinect plugged in, i probably don't want to have to do anything with anyone's kinect (mine or someone i'm playing against). and if i plugged in a headset, then it would just default to the headset speakers.

i still can't believe that i cannot globally disable hearing other people online or at least set it to friends only, and that i have to manually sign in to xbox live every time i turn on my xbox one.

but yeah, i guess thinking ms had common sense with operating system was my mistake.

Did you go through the Kinect audio set-up? It doesn't work for shit if you don't.

Which MS should have had you do from the beginning. I mean when you do the initial system setup it should have had you do the audio calibration etc. I was never asked to do that and had to select the option manually.

I thought it was part of the initial Kinect set-up, but I don't recall very well since I moved it and redid it within an hour or so.

I didn't see that screen before I went in to see if there was any kinect settings and found it. WOnder how I missed it.

I've done it several times, nothing. Another question, I thought it was supposed to log you in automatically correct? I have to go and click in the corner to do it. If I click it didn't see me it show's me perfectly. Seems kind of odd.

Mine logs me in within about 20 seconds every time. Is your kinect in a weird place?
