There isn't really much MS can do besides making the Kinect as mic default to off. It would be the exact same situation if they had a mic plugged in. Their voice communication is going to you via your speakers because you don't have a headset attached, I'd imagine. If you had one plugged into the controller (even if you're playing KI with a fightstick, you can have the controller on), it should divert the voice communication to the headset.
yeah but i kind of assumed, how with the x360, if you plugged in your headset, the volume would default to the headset. if you unplugged it, it would default to the speakers.
i was assuming that if i don't have a kinect plugged in, i probably don't want to have to do anything with anyone's kinect (mine or someone i'm playing against). and if i plugged in a headset, then it would just default to the headset speakers.
i still can't believe that i cannot globally disable hearing other people online or at least set it to friends only, and that i have to manually sign in to xbox live every time i turn on my xbox one.
but yeah, i guess thinking ms had common sense with operating system was my mistake.
