Blue Dragon wasn't as good as Lost Odyssey IMO, but it wasn't terrible. LO was helped by the fact they got Uematsu to do the music though. You can say rose tinted glasses all you want, doesn't change the fact this man is a musical genius.

Uematsu didn't work on Blue Dragon and I didn't like that game, but it wasn't because of the music anyway. I just thought the artwork and battles weren't interesting or fun.

I guess what I mean to say is this new RPG better deliver and they have to keep pumping them out to even make a dent in Japan, or RPG fans in North America for that matter.

Is anyone having issues with their system saying that the disc is dirty or damaged? My discs are spotless and everytime I go to swap a disc it says this.

I dont have that but it seems like every other day my dashboard will not load properly and I have to hold down the power until it shuts off then that will fix it.

My friend's XB1 did this at the beginning of March. Reboot, no dice, did some system restore kind of thing over the phone. They ended up replacing it, the replacement had a broken drive out of the box, so they replaced that. The 3rd one has been rock solid for just over two weeks now.

Mine was doing it too. It just needs a hard reset and it will work. I am beginning to get annoyed with having to hard reset my xbox as much as I do.

the xbox one is buggy as hell and it's getting annoying. pretty much every time i turn it on there is something not right with it. this past weekend i ran into the following issues:

- twitch.tv would not let me broadcast. it would simply say "please wait while we determine your internet speed" after i clicked on broadcast, and then it would just go back to the previous screen. there is also no way to get rid of the twitch app when it's snapped unless you keep pressing the b button to go back, then put it in full screen, then press the guide button and pick something else. there is no way to quit out of it.

- i was playing titanfall and in a party, then randomly no one could hear me but i could hear everyone. i left the party, came back in, and it still didn't work. i also tried setting my privacy preferences again to allow everyone to hear me and that didn't work. i tried putting it back to friends only and that didnt work. i had to turn my x1 off then back on and it finally worked.

- pretty much every time i boot my x1 and go to play killer instinct, after the first time i press the A button on it and it goes to the splash screen, it turns black for a second then i'm right back in the dash. it usually works the next time, but i've had it happen like 3-4 times in a row and i had to reboot for it to work.

Yes it is. It's especially funny since OS is microsofts strong point. I have had to reset my xbox so many times I have lost count, and so far I only had one instance on my ps4 where I had to shut it down and restart it because it didn't have any sound.

You can't just unsnap it? When an app is snapped, you can go to the home screen and select the "unsnap" tile or say "Xbox, unsnap". If you're hitting B to unsnap an app, you're doing it wrong. If you're wanting to quit the app altogether, you have to select the twitch app tile, hit start/menu and select quit. Pressing B isn't going to do anything but try to take you back to where you were previously.

on the other apps i've used (which isnt much, probably just friends and party) you can get it to unsnap by just pressing the B button (i think), but if not that, then you can press the start button and it has an option to quit or unsnap - something that gets it unsnapped. with twitch there was nothing like this which was just terrible design.

I've said multiple times that I thought the story wasn't good in Blue Dragon because the characters weren't interesting and the villain wasn't compelling. It's pretty much the same problem as every single Marvel Cinematic Universe movie! However, everything else about it was exactly what I wanted in a JRPG. I think Square-Enix's problem is that they helped shape the wheel years ago, but they still feel the constant need to tweak it. Square, leave it alone; round is good!

I didn't think he did...I thought he came in after it released for Lost Odyssey oh well, anyway the music wasn't the reason I disliked it. In fact I don't think there's been a game I've ever played that I didn't like due to the soundtrack. That's usually not something I pay attention to unless it's great and adds something.

correct me if Im wrong, but wasnt the Bone lunched way earlier then planned (almost 6 months) to compete.. I know the orginal "projected" launch date was much later. Ms was just behind this gen, I would suspect it will get ironed out and it will work fine eventally. Just forced out the door, we all know how well that works.

You can easily tell that both consoles were rushed to market. Both are still missing huge features on their OS. Both wanted to beat the other to the market.

I will say with a straight face that the PS4 is a lot more refined in the software area. I've never had a game fail to launch for example.

The PS4 OS is a lot less ambitious than the Xbox One's OS IMO. Not that that is a bad thing, just that MS really wanted to have as many features as possible on the box and Sony wanted to have as good an experience with games from what it seems.

You're right, the PS4 is more straight forward in it's design and intention.

features don't mean jack squat if the overall experience is awful and buggy though. the "experience" on xbox1 is extremely clunky and annoying to me, especially compared to the ps4. granted, i haven't turned my ps4 on in months, but that is what i remember.

I turned on my xbox this morning to throw on netflix for the kids while I got ready, and was greeted once again to my pins and marketplace not showing up. Instead of doing a hard reset, I just shut the damn thing down and fired up the ps4 and launched right into netflix. Resetting at least once a week just to have the dash run correctly is pretty stupid, I don't care what their "vision" was.

Yep especially so when to unsnap an app like for example the game DVR, you have to go back to the home screen unless you can use the kinect. When I'm in a game my Kinect can't hear me due to my speakers' proximity to it.

You just have to double tap the Xbox button on the controller and then hit b, and it should close out the snapped app.

Kinect for Windows was announced. Now, we will get to see what this thing is really capable of! I might pick one up simply for the voice stuff, if there are good Windows integration apps.

At times, I think that software people tend to forget about usability. User tests/juries are an important part when designing a UI because something that seems intuitive to you might completely baffle the average layman. I think it's also important to consider what differences you're introducing compared to a previous revision/model. Most people like normalcy, and making things more convoluted/difficult rarely ever makes people happy. For example, I was conversing over messages on the X1 the other day, and the whole process (apart from using SmartGlass to type) just felt a lot slower. The worst part was probably just getting the message to come up to begin with! On the 360, you just hit the XBOX button, and it pops up. On the X1, you have to hit the button to bring up the dialog, then hold it in to switch to Messages. :|

That's been said before, that the game developers and the OS creators weren't talking to each other and that the guys working on the OS didn't view things from the perspective of a gamer since they weren't one themselves.

It makes perfect sense though. The people most likely to do major coding would be older programmers, not some 20 somethings that game all the time. The architects are likely to not be gamers, just good developers.
