In case anyone was interested, there's a Verizon TV app that lets you stream some of the live content from their TV listings. It doesn't have all the channels but it has most of the ones I watch. If you're already feeding your cable feed through the x1 this isn't as interesting for you.

It might not be that new but I only noticed it this past weekend.

Is this one of those "That's what she said!" moments?

Hmm... I wondered if that could be the case. I don't know if it's any indication, but the power brick LED goes white when I plug it in and then goes amber. Unfortunately, I don't know what color it's supposed to be because it has always been hidden.

I also realized that I don't know anyone local to me that owns an XBOX One.

All of life is a "that's what she said moment," there are chances to say it everywhere.

As for that brick, mine is still white, despite the fact that the console is off. If yours isn't, it's probably bad (which isn't the best idea on Microsoft's part, since the 360's PSU stays amber until turning on, so this might confuse some customers).

Tough an unlikely suggestions, you COULD attempt to go to GameStop (if you know that the people there aren't jerks), and ask if you could possibly bring in your console and test it with their demo console's PSU (or a used console's PSU). If the people there are at-all decent, gamer-friendly employees, they'd let you do it. Otherwise, hit up Microsoft, get it replaced, and cash in on that free game they seem to be giving out to anyone with a defective unit.

When you say turned off, do you mean fully off or in the standby state? According to an article on xbox.com, orange means its in the energy-saving state, but if you're in standby, it will still be white.

Hm... I thought about going to Gamestop too as I think they're the only place that would help me. Best Buy would just usher me to Geek Squad. Although, the last time I was there, I didn't recognize the usual salespeople that I talked to on occasion.

...and if I do have to resort to sending it in, hopefully, they aren't some shoddy setup that won't take the time to get my Forza 5 disc back as it's still in the console.

I suppose I'm not sure. I mean, I just turn it off normally. Maybe that's standby, and the "energy-saving" state is when you press and hold the button down. Regardless, it should go white when you hit the power button and stay there.

If I remember correctly, it's a setting in the power options as to whether you want the console to go to standby mode where it can respond to your voice commands (i.e. "XBOX... turn on") and also download updates. I don't recall if it's turned on by default though.

i played nfs:rivals last night for about 90 minutes and so far i'm not a big fan of it. i just don't like how the cops and other players are always on the level when you just want to mess around. it is just kind of annoying. there may be options to turn it off but i just left everything default.

i was trying to do the "drive" challenges where you just have to do a few things (they also have "racer" and "cops" so this is neither of those) and i'd just be cruising around and next thing i know a cop is on my ass, human or ai. it was just very annoying and i wanted to explore and do the challenges without having to worry about that crap.

it also feels identical to pretty much every other nfs game in the past decade, but i wasn't expecting much different. the graphics are nothing special and the 30fps doesn't bug me at all either. i can't believe they are still reusing parts of nfs games from like a decade ago. i've hardly explored much of the map but i have already seen some familiar places from previous games.

i also think i'm just tired of the "open world" racing games that seem to be every arcade game now a days. i'm not a fan of having to look at the little map in the corner of the screen at every intersection to make sure that i go the correct way that the race is designed to go. it just takes out of the immersion.

i'll definitely give it more time but from the get go i'm not impressed at all.

Need for Speed Underground 2 was the last good, arcade-y Need for Speed game that I played. Although, the Drift mode in it was cheesy as heck. All you had to do was fishtail on the straights, and you could constantly chain your score.

See, I steer clear of EA so much that I haven't had that issue. I really liked the first Most Wanted (on 360) and Carbon (again, on 360). However, EA's Online Pass started shortly after Carbon, and I stopped buying form them. I rented ProStreet (which was very "meh"), but I haven't played anything beyond that. Rivals looked cool, but being an EA game, I can't give them my money (might get it from a GameStop buy 2, get 1 free sometime). Instead, I'm waiting fro Ubisoft's The Crew, with Forza 5 tiding me over until then.

It's been a long time (maybe the first GRID) since I played a good arcade racer on a console (Asphalt 7: Heat was OK on my Lumia 920).

Holy hell the movies and TV shows especially are insanely expensive to rent/buy to download on XBL, like insanely. Its $80NZD for last season of Supernatural which is twice the price of going and buying the blu-ray set .

Really? That's absurd. Digital should always have a price advantage IMO...yet we see this again and again, but that is a really outrageous example.

Here in the US Xbox Video wants $50 for season 9, Amazon Prime offers them in HD for about $37, Blu-Ray is $46.96

So I would say that what Amazon is charging is about what I expect if I am buying them digital and not on disk. Microsoft is insane IMO. They aren't offering any quality jump over Amazon's offering either.

Shoot self in foot. You'd think they'd want to push their vision of a digital future, yet the price/quality of what they have is mehtastic at best. Even the Xbox music quality is notably worse on a home theatre than competing services, at a worse price.

It's like years of gamers happily paying for XBL went to their heads and they think they can just do whatever they want to squeeze people.

I started playing AC4 and the combat is pure trash compared to Ryse which I just beat yesterday. Ryse makes you feel like a complete badass and is intense, I wish more games would take note

yeah ryse is pretty repetitive, but i never once got bored with the combat even though it's so simple and basic. it is still challenging and fun to try and string things together. and it's just so epic and badass. ryse is definitely my favorite game out right now other than killer instinct, but it really doesn't have much replay value. i haven't played it since i beat it.

while i've never played ac4, the combat in the first 2 was very clunky and from the vids i saw, it looked the same in ac4.

In AC4 the combat isn't the draw...at all

Dont care, if you are going to do something at least be half ass component. It isnt like the rest of the controls are the best either

sigh are you really going to miss the point that easily? Ryse as a game isn't half of what AC4 is. I'll just leave it at that since you obviously don't know what I'm talking about. AC4 really opens up later

As much as I hate the combat in AC4 you can't compare the two. AC4 is a whole world different than Ryse.

I just compared DR3 combat the Ryse. I preferred DR3's variation.

I like AC4, DR3 and Ryse.

Yeah, but the problem is that it's hard to push a good story when experiencing it is a major drag. The controls and physics in AC are the reason I never got beyond the second one. Fighting is boring and redundant. The wall-climbing gets EXTREMELY frustrating when your character (be it Altair, Ezio, or a later assassin) tries to climb the wrong part of the wall, which can't be climbed, and you have to wait 3 seconds for him to fail so you can correct it.

I really like the Assassin's Creed story, and I'd like to finish it. The problem is that they just suck the fun out of it with the combat and overall controls, so I can't. I'm waiting for the inevitable next-gen collection, then I'll try again.

I felt that exact same way, I played the first and never played another one until 4 came out. Being a pirate immediately overcame how horrible combat is and how much climbing sucks.

Would it have been better with a rocket pack? The climbing perfectly fits the AC series /them. I don't get the hate?

I loved everything about ac4, except how it ended. The ship battles never got old.

I think they really screwed up all the assassins creed storyline with AC4. They introduce characters that don't fit and it is as if all the events at the end of ac3 are meaningless. What happened to Minerva etc? Wasn't she gonna take over the world and enslave mankind or something?

The game itself, not including the present day stuff in the office building was pure win in my book. Love the setting and the openness of the map and all the sunken treasure ships to find, the whales and sharks to catch, the ports to sack...all of it was fantastic.

I still have to play this I'm only 30% through. I haven't had any wanting to play it lately. Which is strange, but I'll turn my ps4 on again when watchdogs is out I suppose.

The concepts are great, the execution just gets frustrating. To an extent, free-running can be frustrating in that game. You get awkwardly stuck on objects, and it is rather infuriating at times.

My main problem was always the combat, though. It's redundant, shallow in its execution, and it is either tediously slow (block and counterattack forever) or a total button mash (wildly slaughter everyone without even trying).
