No anti-MS intended. You were spot on with your assessment:

Except, that statement isn't "telling" of anything, except they have no idea how to integrate Kinect features (not just motion controls, btw). There is nothing significant about that statement.

Madden was also built for a controller, but it uses the Kinect voice commands and they are really good.

loving the style in sunset overdrive. the weapons remind me quite a bit of the weapons from my favorite imsoniac game - ratchet and clank.

I was speaking to IGN. They call it "telling" that the game doesn't support the Kinect, as if it's some kind of omen that the Kinect is doomed and everyone hates it. Gaming journalism is too often coated in stupid bias nowadays.

That is because it isn't real journalism. One site makes a silly claim and everyone else believes it. Some of these sites are so bad they make Fox News look like the best journalism in the business.

damn that game seriously looks really awesome. i wll definitely be picking it up.

it looks A LOT like ratchet and clank mixed with crackdown. that is the vibe i get from watching the clips of it. i can see all of the other games too that they mention, but those 2 are the ones i think it most seems like combined.

It definitely has that Ratchet and Clank feel. The art direction and the overall "not too serious" vibe gives it that.

IGN has really turned into a joke lately with their poorly worded quotes attempting to just get more clicks.

One time the edited an article 5 times in 10 minutes because they didn't give enough information and people got the wrong idea. They are too quick to be first rather than be correct.

The game looks great so far, gonna keep an eye on it and see where it falls on the calendar. If I have openings in my gaming schedule I will seriously consider grabbing it.

I hope they are not calling this fugly looking game the exclusive that will sell this system. It looks like a poor Infamous rip off!!!

Someone's a fanboy who clearly knows nothing. Because a TPS in a cartoony world from the makers of Ratchet and Clank is the EXACt same as a fairly realistic-looking third-person action game where the character has super powers.

The camera angle's about where the comparisons stop. This is closer to a Dead Rising+Ratchet & Clank mash-up.

It looks like Dead Rising 3 but fun.
I thought DR3 was fun. But yeah I this looks even more lighthearted and insane (can't get over the crazy hops, my ADD is going to cause this game to take days in playtime to finish if I get this).

I tried the demo, and it seemed really redundant. All you did was smash zombies with X or Y for 20 minutes, so I quit after about 10.

The story picks up about a quarter of the way through to keep you from just being Mr. Zombie killer, and the bosses were all crazy fun humans. I hadn't finished the other two DR games because you would have to many opportunities to fart about and once I go down that rabbit hole I never recover (same issue with GTA games). But 3 actually focused my attention a bit and I was able to beat it. That's what would worry me about this game. My squirrel like attention span is going to pull me away from the story and I'll just get more distant from it till I stop playing altogether.

I liked DR3. I put in some hours. Haven't played in awhile, but it was fun. Got my value out of it.

I am really looking forward to a new Crackdown. After seeing what SR4 did with the super powers, Crackdown on next gen can only be an improvement!

I watched the trailer for Sunset Overdrive, and it looks like some crazy fun. Although, one thing did come to mind... there's some rather fancy movement in the game. Now, some may think positively with that as it looks fun. Now, I think it does look fun, but fancy movement systems usually worry me because they tend to be complex and full of odd situations. A good example is the Assassin's Creed games; the games have been refined over the numerous iterations, but the first one was a bit rough. Don't get me wrong... I have some faith in Insomniac to do a good job. I just want to keep that in mind when it comes time for reviews or previews.

if you've ever played ratchet and clank, they have some "on rails" parts that are jumping between different "rails" parts kind of like it looks as it is doing in the video of SO, and it plays very smoothly. i actually think that is what the people at IGN were talking about when they say sometimes the transition between different "rails" are not smooth because it looks like you're making an impossible jump or it just animates weird.

from the looks of the videos, it looks like there are predetermined "rails" you can run along and move along, almost like once you get going, you keep going that way until you jump to another one.

like try to think about it as having no textures, and when he's moving on a "rail" that it is just a straight line (or curved as they showed some curved ones), and that you continue to just slide/move along that one until you either hit the end of it or jump off, possibly onto another one.

and this is insomniac we're talking about here, not ubisoft who is known as a bug ridden company.

i personally don't think this game looks like DR3 at all. even the enemies aren't slow lethargic enemies doing nothing, they look to be fast and rabid. DR3 is so slow in general, and it's dark and dreary, and it has a crappy framerate, with the majority being melee weapons.

oh ... and "rail" !!

It wasn't really the rails that got me thinking. It was watching the guy wall run across buildings, and especially when I saw him just curve around the corner of the building. My thought was, "How does this control?"

As for the graphical aspect of it, I bet they could add something like some sort of extending latch that makes the long rail jumps less awkward looking. I immediately thought of Bioshock Infinite after you mentioned that, but then I recalled... Bioshock is in the first person, which really helps as you can't see the character! I wonder if we could do some console command trickery to get into third-person view and see how weird the animations look.

well i'm just guessing that there are these "rails" on the exterior of the buildings too. and you just continue to run around until you jump off or hit the end of it. but yeah, it's all speculation at this point, that was just the vibe i got from it when watching it. and how they are comparing it to tony hawk too, how you could slide on rails that wrapped around the buildings and down curved stairs - kind of the same where you start grinding and just keep going.

Ah, that makes a lot of sense. It did seem like you didn't so much as scale a wall (like in Titanfall), but rather you just clung to it. It might seem a little negative at first if you just consider it as the "simple" or "easy" approach, but I think it might also be better described as the "cleaner" approach.
