Just a heads up, I saw a couple articles saying power star golf is free today on the XB1. Anyone that skipped it, you might want to grab it.

It's not actually free, it's just got a free mode that is apparently one hole from each course. You have to pay for the actual game parts, which is basically so expensive you might as well just pay the $20.

Dumb question, but I assume the deals on the Microsoft Store on eBay are for physical game copies, not download codes, correct?

Thinking about picking up used Xbox One locally. Has 3 games loaded via download. Will I be able to play those games?

No, unless the person "gives" you his account which is against the TOS.

Pretty much figured that. But thanks for clarifying. The guy wanted $375 for it with two rechargeable battery packs. Local MC has it new for $399+tax. (Not the new one to launch minus the kinect).

Eh, I'm not a huge fan of those battery packs. To be fair, I don't know if the X1 variant is better, but I had a Play and Charge Kit for the 360, and it was terrible. I just buy Sanyo Eneloops (Amazon), and I can use those in the 360 controllers, X1 controllers, or anything else. I have a charger (La Crosse BC-700) that sits on my end table that's right beside my controllers, which makes it only slightly less convenient than plopping in a new, singular unit.

Thanks for the info and link. I'm starting from square one. Had the original Xbox launched in 2001. Was a lot of fun. Switched to PC and then stopped all gaming. What's nice is I can use it for Netflix, blu-ray, etc. So even if I stop playing for awhile it can do other things.

I was able to score a pre-order copy of Wolfenstein at Gamestop. They had one left on reserve and tried to call them before selling it to me but got a disconnected number so I will get an invite to the D00M beta.

PURCHASE THE GAME DIGITALLY
"If you purchase from now until Monday May 26th, your invitation to the DOOM beta will be associated with your user account. You will not receive a code."

I actually had and loved my Play & Charge with my 360. However, I went Eneloop this time because of the $5 price increase, which was moronic. The Eneloops have worked perfectly, and they last 5-7 days when played VERY heavily.

Became a bit of an Eneloop fan and had already been replacing remote batteries with them as they died. After seeing the One pricing on batteries I did the numbers and Eneloops are just so much better. They might not last quite as long, but they get decent time and last much longer unplugged and unused. I even got some XX (soon to be Panasonic Pro) batteries for the One controller. Almost 5000mah, can sit a year on the shelf, and 500 charges, still comes out better.

Even if my Li-ion's for my 360 die I will probably swap Eneloops into it.

I timed it pretty good. I got Xbox One from Fry's for $430 and then a few days later got in that buy two get one free deal from the Microsoft store. $65 for Madden, Fifa, and Titanfall.

There really is a weird anti-Xbox vibe out there though. The salesman at Fry's spent the few minutes it took to get the Xbox and print the sales slip to talk me out of it and have me buy an PS4 instead. Then told me how much the Xbox broke to justify the $130 warranty (warranty bullshit I understand though). This wasn't a kid either, he had to have been almost 40.

Man babies and fanboys are everywhere, you would think they would be too ashamed to act that way in real life though

im not surprised that a 40 year old working as a sales person at a retail store in the video game department is acting like that.

A lot of people too don't know the reasoning to buy specific systems and think everyone buys only one. They know the sales numbers and that's where their thinking lies.

It's a horrible sales tactic on top of that. Never tell the customer you are selling them crap, because you become crappy for even offering it. Honestly if someone is trying to tell me that a product I researched and found to be the superior option for me was crap, I wouldn't purchase from them because I know if I ever needed to talk accessories or other options with them would be useless. It's also insulting my intelligence.

That's pretty much what Fry's does. They would try to sell you insurance on a pack of gum if the could.

He first asked me why I was getting the Xbox and I said "for the Kinect." I like the voice controls and I think it's a decent advantage over the PS4. The removal off it is basically why I bought it now since there doesn't appear to be a overall price cut with it so $430 seems to be the lowest it will go for a while. He brushed it off and asked what games I wanted to play on it and when I responded with Titanfall, Forza, and a couple others that's when he went on the anti-Xbox rant and told me why all of those games sucked and why the Xbox sucked. It was just weird and of course made me not want to buy anything else for the console (accessories or games) let alone the warranty.

I have never met a sales person trying to talk me out of buying something. I've even asked about lesser quality, cheaper stuff and gotten honest responses. But, never gotten a "that sucks! Don't buy it!" I'd certainly have given him a nice response about the intelligence level of a 40 year old working as a Fry's associate talking people OUT of buying stuff from their store and then reported the moron to his manager. But, I'm a dick like that. =)

This is why I either buy online, or do extensive research and simply walking with exactly what I want to buy.

I saw the price at Fry's. Miss having a local Fry's store. Instead I do have a Micro Center and I picked it up with Kinect for $399+ tax. They only had 3 in stock. That's the lowest price I am aware of, so I bought it.

In general, it seems counter productive for a salesperson to talk crap about something that a customer came into the store specifically to buy. They either buy the item anyway and are annoyed at the guy (me) or instead would get thrown for a loop and walk out buying nothing because now they are confused. I doubt the guy would have gotten any commission on the sale whether I bought an Xbox or a PS4 but it probably doesn't look good for him with just selling a bare console. I would have preferred buying the console online, but I think the deal was in store only and Fry's typically is a giant toy store to me.

I wish we had a Micro Center in San Diego but I am happy with two Fry's. The Xbox deal lasted at week and they had plenty of stock. I think that is the best deal for a new Xbox though.

I'm familiar with them trying to sell you warranties but talking someone out of a purchase is stupid and a no no in any retail sales position.

It's none of his business why you want something unless you specifically say well I want a console but I'm really not sure which I should get.

I had a kid at best buy trying to sell me a wireless mouse when I went in to buy a wired one for my desktop. Well you know a wireless one is more comfortable it's better. I was like It's not more comfortable I'm sitting at a desk where it will never need to go anywhere. Besides I didn't want to use batteries or have a Bluetooth usb chip around which I would easily loose because I've done so before when I owned a laptop.
