I don't believe for one second that Plex is ever going to happen via Microsoft on an Xbox. Hell, if they did that I'd seriously consider buying one, but all the console companies have always sucked when it comes to allowing a decent media player. They want to lock you into their shitty DRM-infected video stores. That's why I'm going to build an HTPC.

That's why I said third party. ID@Xbox is pretty neat.

How do you know Plex doesn't have approval? He could just be more vocal considering Plex doesn't announce upcoming platforms.

From my quick understanding, there are people in that thread who are a part of the beta, I haven't read the whole thing so feel free to correct me.

Plex is already in the Windows Phone store and in the main Windows app store. Within a year, the code base will be close enough that it will be quite easy to make it an Xbox One app. Xbox already has other movie store apps on it so it's not like they are trying to protect the non-existent Xbox Video revenue. The original plan for this console generation was to launch two different Xboxes. One was going to be a Roku/Apple TV type media device that would use an app store for more casual games and the other was the actual Xbox that launched. The media device got canceled and probably rightfully so but Microsoft is trying to bring the app store to the living room.

Well I hope you are right, I will definitely follow developments in this area. I'm still going to be shocked if this leads to a console that can play a wide range of MKVs and ISOs.

I agree. It would also help people move past the old consoles that have the ability to watch streams from your network with more support for different files.

In my opinion there isn't anything else worth getting excited about until Diablo 3 comes out in August follow by Destiny in September. Metro is getting a new coat of paint in August also.

Depends a LOT on your preferences. You can get several launch titles cheaply through GameFly (you can buy used games without a membership), and people say that Ryse has a decent campaign worth playing for $25. Tomb Raider is the same thing, good story for $25. NFS: Rivals is $25 as well, and would offer a nice, arcade alternative to Forza.

Nothing great is out for a while (I personally hate Diablo and think Destiny isn't worth a launch purchase, making the next launch title I plan to buy Sunset Overdrive), but there are plenty of cheap, playable titles in the interim.

It's upcoming. Also, there is a lot of Alpha gameplay available on youtube to review.

There isn't anything worth getting until a 2 year old game gets rereleased lol.. kind of sad innit? And then after that it will be GTA V rerelease, and Halo rereleases.

Don't get me wrong I think these games look great. Just shows what a creative rut the industry is in.

Good job misquoting and hand picking your arguments. You selectively left out Destiny on purpose because we all know Destiny isn't coming to PC right away. Also, it has been said hundreds of times in this forum that every console launch has been similar to this. Where it takes a while to get games rolling out. I'm finding plenty to play on my consoles though. My PS4 and my XB1 get some use just about every day. From Fifa, to Killer Instinct, to the various free games from Games with Gold and PSN+. I'm not bored at all with them.

Diablo 3 was released for PC but it's better with a controller IMO. The game lends itself to analog stick movements very well and the addition of a dodge ability is great. Plus there is actual offline play.

Yep. We've been talking about the weak library for both the XB1 and PS4 for awhile now. You know it's a bad year for games when arguably the biggest title being released for the PS4 in 2014 is a third party, multi-platform title. Sony dumped a ton of cash buying that one year time-exclusive content agreement so even they were aware of it. I'm not downplaying some of the other good games coming out, but Destiny is neck and shoulders above the rest of the pack in terms of hype and interest. Halo, Forza Horizon 2, Destiny, and Diablo 3 should sell a ton of units and make MS a fortune during the holiday season, but like you said, its a sad state of affairs when some of your biggest titles are re-releases, or more so, third party re-releases.

At least there are many great titles on the horizon in 2015.

Spent probably 200+ hours already on D3 on the PC so not really looking to play anymore. Destiny looks promising, but I just can't commit that much time to an online FPS on a console. Maybe get it down the road after reviews.

Why not? I actually like FPS games on console better for some reason now. Maybe I've just gotten used to a controller a lot more than a mouse.

Probably two things, first I like being able to play on the go. I can take my laptop with me, which I did a lot with BF4. Second, I just can't get used to the controls and FOV. I did put in a good amount of time in Halo 3, but it was easier when I was single and could monopolize the TV

Heh I don't know what to say about on the go...not much choice in that case if you are traveling alot for work or something.

Well, you shamed me into the beta, albeit on the PS4. I will give it another try and see if I keep the order.

I think it's worth pre-ordering to get the beta for Destiny. If you don't like it that much it costs you nothing but at least you get to see what people are talking about and get a feel for how the game will work.

I really liked the Alpha, more than a lot of full retail games. Maybe you won't like it but I think the game deserves fair try before dismissing it.



I just finished guacamelee on xb1 but apparently to get a good ending I have to find all the mask parts. I don't know if I have the patience for that, some of the later areas really tested my nerves and I hear getting all the choc mool locations is the hardest part of the game.

Also has anyone noticed that the xb1 won't play blu-ray movies made at home? Yes I have a stand alone player but I was testing the disk for compatibility. Have a bunch of home movies from of wedding I was putting on a blu-ray from my HD video camera and wanted to make sure it would play in different players, just in case. Anyway, the video doesn't work in my xb1 but everything else I have plays it. Maybe this was mentioned months ago, I forget if it was.
