They do say on their website that prices in the store may be different. It says this on target.com as well I know. That doesn't mean that they won't price match. My local best buy stores have computers you can use to look up whether they have a product in stock and it connects to a website resembling bestbuy.com but it leaves off all the items not sold by best buy directly. They have stuff on bestbuy.com that are sold by a 3rd party and use their site as the storefront.

I think any issues with price matching are on each store and its management, not best buy as a whole. Their FAQs say they will price match competitors including amazon.com

Right, but what I mean is this. I had this experience like 5 years ago.

Bestbuy.com is a public website. Let's say a printer on there says $99.99. Sold in store (not a storefront item).

You go to the store and the printer is $129.99. You say hey but I saw this on your website for $99.99.

They load up their internal Bestbuy.com on a computer in the store, and show you it says $129.99.

They tried to trick you (this may have been my local store), lol, thinking the internal bestbuy.com was the public facing one. That didn't last very long but whether or not that was a local only policy or public across all stores policy I don't know, but it was obvious some trickery was being played.

I think this practice stopped very quickly. The "bestbuy.com" they were loading and showing you on their PC was not the public facing bestbuy.com.

I wonder how Best Buy has survived after amazon has taken over the world basically.

Cause best buy is local. And being able to handle returns locally is a huge convenience when you need to process a return. Convenience is a big factor for many people. The gotta have it now mentality.

Also... Sometimes it's better to actually see and feel what you are purchasing.

And often times, there's just no good reason NOT to shop at Best Buy... For example, yesterday, my son bought some new PC speakers. Looked online, figured out which set he wanted, and checked the price at Amazon. Checked BB, and I they local store had them in stock for the same price. So, why not just get them there?

Or like I do, price match amazon for a couple movies or games.

Yep. The internet just likes to hate on BB. It's a store, like any other, online or not. Make wise/informed choices, and BB can be a benefit, no different than other retailers.

Plus, with Amazon charging sales tax for some of us now, it no longer has any advantage on price. I don't mind taking 20 minutes out of my lunch on a Tuesday to head over to BB.

How's Strike Suit Zero? Anyone play it yet? I know crimson dragon is pretty bad, although I decided to download it anyway. No reason to refuse free titles.

I've heard a few people say it blows, some say it's OK. Of course, quite a few have said that Crimson Dragon is pretty decent as well, neither game intrigues me enough to try in the near-future.

I have it on the PC and it's very arcade'y (at least for me it is, probably not for hardcore arcade fans ). Played a few missions and got bored really fast. No idea what is changed on the X1 version, I doubt they changed much....

Played strike suit zero a bit and it's just mission to mission and seems either too easy or too hard. There's not much of a gradual increase in difficulty. I guess it's alright...gonna keep it just cause it's something else to play once in a while.. I tried crimson dragon too and well...I don't like it I'll just say that.

crimson dragon is ALRIGHT. it just feels ... cheap. like something about it just feels rushed/cheap. the menus, the voices, the graphics, everything. i played for like 45 minutes though and it was kind of fun. it definitely doesn't have the charm of the originals. oh and the sound in this game is terrible. i had my volume turned up loud and it sounded so dull and muted.

Put it this way, I'm sure I won't be the only one ordering from amazon.com same day delivery when it becomes country wide instead of going to my local BB store. I'm sure they've been suffering for some time, Circuit City/etc. similar stores have gone out of business. Borders, etc.

Why? I have to pay tax and shipping. With best buy I only pay tax and they will match Amazon's price. No reason to use amazon anymore unless it is something best buy doesn't carry or doesn't have.

I like amazon for certain things but there is no advantage for me to shop there for movies, games, or TVs.

Best buy doesn't carry a variety of items. TVs I have used Amazon before but that is one thing I would look into a brick and mortar store. Does best buy price match amazon for movies? Even recently their movies were more expensive (you're talking $20 on amazon and $30 at BB).

I download all my games. I foresee BB being closed down.

Best Buy will price match anything they sell. If the movie's cheaper on Amazon, they'll match the price.

As for the digital distribution, I'll continue to pass on a full change. Best Buy's Gamers Club Unlocked means I get games for $48 the day they release, rather than paying $60 for a digital copy I can't trade in later. I can get a game for $48 at launch, then probably finish it and trade it in while the "guaranteed $40 TIV" is still going on at Best Buy, which is what I did with Watch Dogs. I got to beat that game and get all but 1 Achievements, and including tax, it cost me about $8.

Ugh... IGN isn't specifically blocked here at my job, but all of the content is. I can still read the awful comments. If you comment on an article on IGN, it is confirmed you are the scum of the Earth.

I think until a national internet sales tax is implimented there will always be a tendedancy to buy online. In spite of shipping costs, local sales tax can add substancially to the price of a large ticket item, and other than selection, this is the major driving force toward online retailers. Some outlets apply tax, but it isn't universal and usually depends on state of origination.

I'm not advocating a tax on internet purchases, but without it the playing field will never be level. Even if the price at Best Buy and Amazon is the same, it still isn't. Brick and morter stores would need to under cut by 7-10% before it's the same. Some localities which can have upwards of 10% combined sales tax. Talk of a nationwide sales tax is scary though, because of course the federal governments is going to try and take it. The only way I think it will work is if all internet commerce is taxed evenly and the money is then distributed evenly to all 50 states for descretionary use.

Cmdrdredd is right...it's mostly about convience, unless you live in one of the 5 states with no sales tax. The delay in shipping is literally the only thing keeping many local stores open.

There already is an "internet sales tax". It is required by law to pay any state taxes avoided on online purchase when you file you taxes. Stop being upset companies are being forced to ensure you obey the law, because you aren't following them!

I wish this white hardware trend would die a swift death. That console looks like total ass, though the controller's OK. Having a non-matching Kinect only makes it worse.

I miss the 360 days, when game bundles involved a game-skinned console.

I comment on some IGN articles. In fact, I posted a comment on the GameStop trade-in price process change just a few minutes ago. Although, their app is terrible for looking at responses.

It's called Use Tax, and it's typically less than sales tax. The reason is that sales tax is actually comprised of three different taxes: state, county, and municipal. When it comes to Use Tax, you only pay the state portion. So, for me, I only pay 4% vs. 9% at the store.

Of course, things will vary depending on your state's tax laws.
