So wait...if you updated at all you are screwed or is there a new update that overwrites the old one and fixes it? This isn't clear to me at all.

Also what disks did not work? Was it all disks or only game disks? This again is not clear.

My console is set for quick power up and will download and update automatically. So now I guess I have to buy a game just to see if it reads disks.

I had a friend encounter the issue. The problem is anyone who downloaded the update within a specific time span received a bad update that made the system unable to detect game discs(all other types such as Blu rays were not affected).

Not everyone who downloaded the update was affected by this issue as I have the latest update and mine has no issues.

i haven't played a disc based game in my x1 in months. i hope my drive still works. i've had nfs:rivals sitting in there since i bought it (and it sucks btw) so maybe i should try to load it up just to be sure.

I am going to have to check myself as well. I only have a single game on disc and I've never actually removed it from the Xbox One. =(

It did not happen on mine, I tried a couple of disc games last night and worked fine with the new update.

I'd say either rent a game or buy a used game from GameStop, check that the drive works, then return the used game (you have 7 or 14 days to do so).

Oh I know how that works. There is no place to rent locally, i checked. At least not yet

I've been waiting 2+ days for my Xbox code to show up from Newegg so I can buy The Golf Club, and now C.S. tells me it could take 1-2 days before the billing department responds to the matter. I should have just paid for it through the Xbox and spent the extra couple of bucks, because this is moronic.

They're the ones who linked me to that deal on Newegg, didn't consider going through their trade forum directly because I don't have PayPal. I figured Newegg wouldn't be a total moron on this front. I might just cancel the order soon if I don't hear back tonight, since I haven't been charged yet.

I don't even know what that means. How is going through Newegg a sign that I "care this much?" I was going to buy some credit, saw it was cheapest at Newegg, and attempted to buy it.

I don't buy things digitally really, so there's no other time that I can say I'd want the credit that I know of. That, and part of the credit I was going to use was through Bing Rewards and expires at the end of the year, so I want to make use of it.

I guess thinking Newegg wasn't going to be a giant pain in the ass is a sign of great care. If I knew it was going to be a giant pain, I obviously wasn't going to deal with it (as evidenced by my unwillingness to put up with EA for years because of the Online Pass and Origin crap).

Ended up having my order canceled by Newegg, claiming by billing address does not match the bank's info (not sure why, since that's never happened elsewhere and the info is the same on the account and card).

I went and paid with a combination of my Xbox credit and my card, and they apparently don't charge tax (they did when I bought a few WP games), so it ended up being cheaper than I expected.

I'll have to leave some feedback later, and I guess if anyone wants to actually see the game, I could put it on Twitch.

you seem to be bringing this up in a couple different threads multiple times, when you could just buy the game with credits instead of worrying about getting the points from newegg at a 10% discount. it would solve all of your issues.

"Media Player – A new app will be available soon ..." I guess that means sometime in the next year the media player will be available.

The Dashboard Preview puts you a month ahead of the standard dashboard. So, if anything, it would be a month off from the masses. I'm in the Preview, but I don't ever do anything about it, so IDK if the app is there. Maybe it's the October update, and Preview participants will get it in September, not sure.

It's a very selective setup. You had to by a new Xbone, that you were activating on Xbox live, that had to download an all in one update to the latest version, within a ~48 hour period for it to brick the drive. After that they forced new Bones to update to an earlier OS with one update and then another update to get it up to the current level without bricking the drive.

I see...well my system works fine. Bought a cheap game at GameStop, returned it.

Some articles say that there is a day one patch for Diablo 3 to enable 1080P. I didn't get a prompt to download the patch after I installed and launched the game. Am I missing something?
