Huh? Wii U believe it or not has some of the best games this generation. XBOX ONE and PS4, regardless of console sales, has what, under 5 each? Just my opinion of course, but madden 15 doesn't count...exclusives count.
that said, coming from someone who has dust on all 3 consoles.
While I would generally say that the best option for comparing consoles is comparing exclusives, I don't agree with it in this sense. When you're arguing One or PS4 against the Wii U, I think you absolutely need to generally include quality titles missing from the other console. So, while comparing the One to the PS4 makes including
Madden (if you consider it a "quality title," I think it's OK), comparing those x86 consoles to the Wii U should absolutely include considering those EA titles which make it to the x86 consoles, but not the Wii U.
To that point you initially made, it's hard for me to judge. I don't care about the PS4's exclusives (except baseball, and pass on a $400 investment for that alone), so I'd compare the Wii U and the One, the two consoles I actually own. However, the Wii U was basically purchased as a local multiplayer machine, and it lives at my sister's as almost exclusively a
Mario Kart 8 machine since that game launched (I got the console a couple of weeks before that). I've got 5 other games (
NSMBU,
Super Luigi U,
SM3DW,
Tropical Freeze,
Wind Waker HD), but they barely get touched because we paly the console 1-2 days/week, and it's always 2- or 3-player
MK8.
All of that stuff said, it means that the only quality title I can vouch for is
Mario Kart 8. We really liked (and didn't 100% complete)
NSMBU, but it's also essentially the standard fare for the franchise, but easier (due to Boost Mode). On the other hand, backwards compatibility (and the flooding of retro titles to the eShop) give the Wii U a multi-generational well of quality titles to dip into, which I think is a feature that needs some SERIOUS emphasis until Nintendo can finish building out the library of the new console (
SSB,
Fire Emblem,
Zelda,
Metroid, etc.).
There is then my Xbox One. None of the titles have blown me away, but really the only title which disappointed me was
Kinect Sports Rivals.
Watch Dogs was a game I liked (especially since it ended up being the equivalent of a 2-week rental for $5).
Madden is nice.
Forza is a strong racer, despite a lack of content.
Powerstar Golf and
The Golf Club are both nice opposites for the golf game genre. There isn't anything I like as much as
Mario Kart 8, but there is a lot more I like to play.
That's the hard part of deciding between the consoles, and it's why I call the Wii U the third-best option for owning one console, but the top option for owning two: there is a shallow library, but a great set of experiences you won't get on the similarly-developed, x86-based consoles.
