And to the guy who said he never got into multiplayer - WHAT??? I never finished the campaign

everyone is different, the campaign is why I played halo, I played a lot of Halo 2 MP when it was new and fresh but that's about it, didn't really play any of it after that. I don't own a xbone but will prob get one to play Halo 5. I think like 80% of my 360 library was Halo games

I'm getting one JUST to play Halo 2. The rest is gravy (Sunset Overdrive looks like it could be a blast...)

I just used one of the best but most under utilized features of the XB1 w/Kinect. Say "xbox use a code" and hold up the QR code for the kinect to scan and you don't have to type it. I just did that for the day one car pack that comes in the Forza Horizon 2 box.

Has anybody placed Just Dance on XB1? Does Kinect 2.0 provide a markedly different Just Dance experience compared to Kinect on Xbox 360? It's probably one of the only reasons I'd pay extra for a Kinect bundle. I'm afraid Kinect is otherwise a sinking ship, based on the fact that Microsoft has made no effort to include Kinect in any of the recent or future bundles (Madden, Sunset Overdrive, Advanced Warfare).

I've used that feature probably 15 times or more so far. It is pretty damn convenient.

The features that aren't "wave your hand to do something" are exceptional with the Kinect. The voice commands put in games are amazing, as well as the QR code stuff. Sadly, them dropping the Kinect rather than just taking the hit on cost is going to lessen the impact the Kinect has on future development.

Did you play Kinect Sports Rivals? I found your statement to be pretty off-base, from that perspective. I agree that the hand gestures SUCKED for navigation, but so much of that game showed of the tracking deficiencies with the Kinect as a whole (rock climbing was nigh-impossible and soccer was pretty rough).

However, voice commands can be great for navigation (though "Xbox On" doesn't always work, but it seems to be more-responsive of late).

The voice commands in Horizon 2 are cool. You can navigate through the map via voice commands. Basically a voice activated GPS.

I played KSR, I liked playing goalie and scoring in soccer. The actual soccer isn't horrible, but certainly not as fun as playing goalie or penalty kicks.

My issue with being goalie was solely because my console isn't set up on the long side of my room, so I didn't quite have enough room to stretch out and block every kick. However, the kicking was so inconsistent that it made me mad quite a bit. At first, I thought that was another issue with the amount of room I had, but it didn't get any better when playing in the living room at my sister's (same for the issues with rock climbing). Bowling was decent, and tennis was passable. The jet skis weren't bad, but they were pretty boring.

I had really hoped that there would be DLC sports (free or paid), because I thought golf and baseball to be perfect sports for Rivals.

I have to wholeheartedly agree. It always came down to this, for me. The PS Eye is superior for 1 to 1 movements. The Kinect was not as accurate, but at least you had no controller (so non-gamers could "play"). The Wii was in between the Kinect and PS Eye.

I want a golf game so badly. I hate to say the Wii Sports-ish golf games are the best implementation so far, and they're not really full fledged.

My new game room doesn't have enough room for Kinect, either.

I don't have enough room to play motion games in my game room but I like the other aspects of the kinect.

Plex app available for X1 starting tomorrow free for Plex Premium subscribers but later on and for a one-time fee for non-subscribers:

http://www.13abc.com/story/26712566/plex-introduces-new-big-screen-direction-with-xbox-one

Plex for Xbox One is available on Tuesday, October 7, to Plex Pass premium subscribers for free in the Apps store on Xbox Live. Plex for Xbox 360 will be available very soon. For those without a Plex Pass, Plex for Xbox One and Xbox 360 will be made available in the future for a one-time fee.

EDIT: Is the update that allows local streaming even out yet?

I refuse to pay for an app to stream. Microsoft should have their media player app working with dlna soon. I think I read something about that being worked on.

I read that, too. It should be available in the October update whenever it comes out. I'll opt for that instead.

EDIT: found it:

http://news.xbox.com/2014/09/xbox-one-system-update-october-preview

Media Player DLNA and MKV support – Members of the preview program who have also downloaded the latest version of the Media Player app will now have support for DLNA streaming. With this update, you will be able to easily access and play music, watch photo slideshows or movies stored on home media servers and devices that support the DLNA server protocols. Additionally, you will now be able to playback MKV files stored on a USB device or a device on your home network that supports DLNA streaming.

I know Sony also said they are working on adding dlna support for the ps4, but in what capacity I dunno. Either way I just don't agree with having to buy an app when even my phone can do it for free by pushing media to my TV.

adding dlna support for the ps4
Last rumours I saw were first quarter of 2015 at the earliest, so not exactly soon. But at least it is supposedly coming. Not really sure why either console launched without DLNA support to be honest.

Because, the amount of people that would put off buying it due to lack of DLNA support is far less than the amount of buyers lost to the other system by delaying it for that feature.

You guys might think this is a huge deal, but it really isn't. It would be nice to have, I agree, but it isn't something most care about.

They want: ability to play shiny, new games; netflix / hulu; party integration; other stuff. In that order.

I'm in multimedia heaven. Actual NTFS support for external drives was the big one for me, but DLNA is icing on the cake.

Shiny games are great to. Destiny was kind of blah to me but I've got enough with D3 and FH2 to keep me busy until Master Chief comes out. FH2 actually inspired me to get back to Forza 5. The driving in FH2 is far more forgiving.

I like how well rounded the XB1 has become since launch.

Smackababy is probably right about DLNA not being so important to most people. It's very important to me, but then again I never intended on using my console for just games. Still, it might not have been a critical feature, but it should never have been left out at release. Radios have zero to do with the main function of a car, but no one here would ever think about buying a car without one. That's how I feel about multimedia support with recent gen game consoles.

i still can't believe how shitty the party system is a year into the consoles life. my buddy and i were trying to get into a party in forza horizon 2 over the weekend and it took us over 30 minute to get into it where we could hear eachother. such a pain in the ass and we don't know why it all of a sudden started working. it's dumb that they have "in game" parties, then "xb1" parties. why don't they just have "xb1" parties like the 360 had? or at least make it work like some other games actually got it to work no problem.

Destiny on ps4 is like that and perhaps other games on ps4. I dont think tgis is a specific xbox issue. They sometimes don't work through the game(cant hear eachother) and the best way is to use the console to create a party and invite your friend for chat that way, outside the game. That always seems to work and bypasses the game's chat system.

The other problem is many games don't have a way you can adjust the voice and game volume. Destiny is the biggest offender I know of where the game will be so loud you can't hear anyone. Luckily the xb1 headset adapter has an adjustment for this purpose. On ps4 you have no adjustment outside psn party chat, unless you have a breakout box for your headset.

I can't understand why they screwed the party system up so much. I get this is a new system on a new architecture on a new console with new concepts, but the party system was near perfect on the 360. Regressing to near unusable is beyond excusable IMO. Especially, when one of your advantages was in the online play features.

I am really digging the snap TV or snap nfl feature right now. I can be doing some destiny and watch the game at the same time. Every Sunday night me and my buddies are doing some Destiny and rooting for our Sunday night Fantasy players.

Sweet. I'm a Plex Pass member, so I'll check it out. I wonder if this also explains why Plex Pass subscription rates went up for all new subscribers. I just jumped on the $75 lifetime subscription before the price change, which also gets you free Android and Roku versions. Albeit, I don't actually use either of those devices.

You don't use PLEX simply for streaming. You should more or less think of it as a simplified whole-home version of XBMC. For example, I can start up a movie on my phone, stop it, pick it up in the living room, stop it, pick it up in the bedroom, stop it, and pick it up on the phone again. Note that there's no difficulty in any of this apart from selecting to resume when I hit play. Also, PLEX handles the re-encoding based upon device profiles.

I know we were talking about this this weekend and its all down to the headset being used. im pretty sure the PS3 had the same issue which is why a lot of the 3rd party headset makers added in an external way to do change them

this is the headset I have, its 3 or so years old but works fine now that the PS4 realizes its plugged in
