Renting games is obviously large enough to keep Gamefly alive and have it at Redbox as well. Even though I almost never rent games anymore, enough people do to keep that side going. I will sometimes browse the used game section of Gamestop for something real cheap. Picked up Assasssin's Creed 1 on PS3 for $8 and thought it was crap. Without used games I would have never known Assasssin's Creed was so horrible.

Only the first one is so horrible The others are good, but get repetitive after 3 of them in a row. Boring is the correct term IMO

Watching some of this footage, I am excited. I guess you get one roman cancel per round maybe. It looks like what can be broken so far is "mashing" of a sort. Like hitting a bunch of mediums. I hope you can do more than just a single button type, otherwise, breakers will be rather easy to catch once you've played a bit. Really looking good so far though.

If you haven't used your roman cancel, you can ultra > cancel > ultra to get people really salty.

yeah this game looks fucking amazing. i'm pretty much sold on xbox1 at this point lol. especially considering how the devs are listening actively to the community and is extremely passionate about this game.

as far as the breakers go, that is the same concept as it was in previous killer instincts. except it wasn't just pressing 2 buttons it was a special move with an L,M, or H button based on if the opponent was doing an H, L, or M i believe. it wasn't like an M breaks M (i think could be wrong, been almost a decade since i played it, even though the arcade game is sitting in my garage lol).

and the "missed breaker" is new to this series, where if you miss a combo breaker you can't attempt another one for a while. that is when he was saying you want to do that "mash" type of combo, because they can't break it for a wihle. otherwise it is REALLY easy to break those. it's a big ass rock/paper/scissors game with a bunch of high/low risk/reward stuff mixed in.

and if by "roman cancel" you mean what that meter thing is under the life bar, no you don't only get 1 a round. they talked about it earlier. it's KIND of similar to an FADC. like you can cancel mid combo or on block, and it uses the meter. and then when you use it, you are positive on hit by more than normal. they compared it to xfactor cancel, however it can ONLY be used when you are on offense. you can't use it when in block stun or anything on defense.

and it's called "instinct mode" and he was saying how different characters also get diferent things from it. jago gets some health back while in it. and they just said saberwulf gets chip on normals while in it.

there is an instant cancel of anything. I think you can do it once per round. There is a small HK+HP under the character picture that is the instant cancel.

Roman cancel came from Guilty Gear. You could cancel anything with it, and it took half your meter. Some games have also done this, like BlazBlue and such.

that is the instinct mode, the hp+hk blinks once you have full meter. that is just when the bar is full.

Oh okay. The more I watch, the more it looks like that. But each character has a different instinct mode it seems. Like Jago's heals and Sabrewulf turns him into an MK character whose normals do chip. Looks like he is Wolverine tier already.

im 100% it is like that lol i'm not just guessing. the dev did a walkthrough of the whole game and it's mechanics at first and went over that.

Not everyone will have a fast connection. My moms internet is ass because she can't afford to upgrade to the higher speed. Maybe this isn't an issue because 1.5mbs is pretty minimum these days unless you only have dsl, not sure of the speeds of that because I never had dsl.

Except you've already stated this is nothing like the family plan. These are separate account. And if they all have to be in the same household, what's to stop people from lying? Are they eliminating Live Gold cards? Is it credit card only? Why couldn't 10 random people team up from an Xbox live account sharing site, then put money on a prepaid Visa and pay for it that way? I will almost guarantee you that the system will not be nearly as friendly as you seem to believe.

My guess is that it's the exact same thing we have now with DLC. Anybody can play it on the local console that it was purchased from, and the account that it was purchased through can play it on any Xbox. But a different account or different console won't work. That's my guess.

That's actually a pretty good article. At least they have some reasoning behind their choices, but ultimately they are still restricting the consumer in comparison to the competition. Should be interesting how it plays out.

Well to be fair, a fast internet connection has nothing to do with it. As long as the X1 can phone home on a "broadband" connection, then you're good. If you're talking about a slow internet hampering online multiplayer, that's been an issue for a couple of decades now, nothing that Microsoft is suddenly introducing.

I have not bought a used game in probably 10 years and my current usage of game systems requires an Internet connection (multiplayer, streaming video/music, dlc, etc). I also love the idea of not having to constantly change discs...I much prefer the install and forget concept. I also love the current party system on XBOX live. It is probably the most important feature to me. Specifically the ability to have a private chat line within the party and being able to move that party between games without issues.

My concerns about my decision on a future console are:

1) is the PS4 really that much more powerful, and will I really know/care. I'm already fairly satisfied with current gen graphics (this is a flip-flop from the last generation where I was not happy with PS2/Xbox graphics).

2) does the PSN network support parties in the same way/similar enough fashion where I can be talking in a private chat room with my friends regardless of what we are playing/doing.

3) I HATE the PS3/PS2 controller. From the size/angles of the device to the placement of the analog sticks, I find it MUCH less enjoyable to use than the Xbox controller. Did a 3rd party manufacturer ever make a controller that had a better size/layout?

Hopefully I'll figure out these items before purchase time. There is a good chance that I will eventually get both, but I have 6 friends that I play with once a week and we will need to choose one console for all of us to play (no one else in my group would buy both). Unless the play station is unbelievably more powerful (something that is really obvious in game quality), we will likely stick with the Xbox as I just don't see any of the issues everyone is getting into a tizzy over as a big deal at all (used games,Internet, etc)

3) yes there are 3rd party ones shaped just like the xbox controller. i do not know how well they work but they do exist. also the PS4 controller is bigger. you may not disslike it as much

Thanks. The big one is #2 as this is the best way to keep up with my old friends who are scattered all over the country. We get in once a week and play random games. If the experience sucks on PSN, that would probably seal the deal on the Xbox.

If we do Ho that route with the Xbox, I could see me picking up the PS4 if I ever do see a huge difference in game quality (or exclusives) down the line.

1. they keep talking about "the cloud" and how great it will be to benefit the consumer, yet they don't even go really show us any reason at e3 what "the cloud" can do that can't be done anywhere else.

2. comparing the xbox1 store to the ios app store? and how well the ios app store is doing? hey dumbfuck, games on there are $1, $2, and $5, maybe $10 ... not $60. that is why it thrives, because people don't mind paying $10 for stuff they know they can get hours out of then not resell. just like peopel buy used games for $20 instead of new games for $60.

3. the $100 extra over ps4 is "tremendous value" and again, goes into the cloud but doesn't tell us why the 300,000 servers will do something for us we can't do elsewhere. but oh, we can use skype and look at nfl stats on the xbox one! you know, things we've been doing for years on pc already! and kinect ... if they want us to think kinect is worth $100, show us something that kinect can do THAT I CANT ALREADY DO WITH THE FUCKING CONTROLLER!

4. they claim they think they have found a great balance? fuck that it's not at all it's just a 100% ms controlled environment. if they really wanted "balance" hwat they would have done is what ps3 and 360 did this generation - offer games as BOTH digital downloads and disc based, and the disc based ones you can do as yo ualways could with buying/selling/renting, and then with the digital ones you can't do anything.
