From what I have heard, it sounds like you just add people to your family list and they can download any of your games at any time. They can then play them when you are not, unless they are that special friend, then they can play with you.

The added convenience of this type of sharing outweighs any potential "cluster f**k" that might occur if all you do is mooch games of your friends; at least, in my opinion.

I think this could be a game changer for me. I've never really been a "used game guy". I sold my first game at gamestop a year ago and that's really the only games I sold. I keep what I buy. I think I'm going to love this feature. I can buy games and, when I'm done, let my brother or sister use them. This feature gets me excited about my pre-order

Not trying to knock it yet, but MS has also stated publishers have the option to allow this or not. We really don't know what we *really* need to know to make any decisions (depending how much you care about these features).

MS needs to give a point by point list that covers all possible scenarios. We should be able to go to that list and determine if the way we want to use the feature is feasible or not.

True.. I'm waiting patiently with anticipation.

Don Mattrick at it again. They really need to shut this guy up. It is like he is taking a page from Sony's smuggness back in 2005/6

http://uk.gamespot.com/news/microso...rice-point-were-over-delivering-value-6410352
About the price and over delivering on value lol

"It's a lower number than some of the analysts had forecasted," Mattrick said on Bloomberg TV. "We're over-delivering value against other choices I think consumers can get. Any modern product these days you look at it [and] $499 isn't a ridiculous price point. We're delivering thousands of dollars of value to people, so I think they're going to love it when they use it."

He's right about it being a decent number against other devices, but other devices aren't relevant.

It would be a more relevant statement if the advantages / over-deliveries were specifically mentioned.

The family plan...sounds nice until the new hot game comes out and you buy it. Then every time you want to play, cousin Bill and Nephew Alex are on it and you are locked out. I see it being a disaster in that regard. Also, it was touched on...but Major Nelson cut off the question.

I think there would definitely need to be some control over it. The original owner of the disc should be the sole person with the capability to "check out" the disc so no one else can play it until it's checked back in.

What prevents you from having a friend, not really family, on your list and he gets every game you do except he doesn't ever buy a single game ever? How do they establish what is considered "family"?

Honestly, I think that's just what you put up with when you have such a model. Netflix and Amazon Prime run into that problem right now. If I had to guess, you could be in serious trouble if they catch you sharing against the established rules, but if they never do, then no biggie. Also, the amount of effort to catch people doing this is probably way too large compared to the benefit.

We do know that 2 people can play the same game at once, but they did say only in single player. Now I don't know and I don't think they clarified it anymore, but it could be possible that the shared games wont allow multiplayer, at least not for sure when two people are playing the same one at the sametime (outside of split screen).

I thought they said that the only way two people could play the same game license was if they were playing split-screen? That being the case for local or networked. I recall Nelson specifically stating that it's like having one disc available, and you can't do two single player instances with one disc.

You think he'll be offering to buy any X1 that we find on the shelves come November?

what do you want him to say?

"our console is not worth the extra $100 over the ps4 go get that since it is cheaper."

of course he's going to defend it.

How about him just keeping his my shut? He hasn't done anything but make things worse from we have an offline device, the Xbox 360. At least with that comment it was during an interview. This is just some ramblings from his desk trying to justify the price. At this point they would be better off just shutting up till they are willing to go into full clear detail on all their policies.

he was asked questions, do you want him to just say "no comment" and go on?

what are you talking about him just rambling at his desk? he's in an interview being asked questions.

Well from the Gamespot link where I came across it it didn't come off as being an interview, the interview was one of the many links in the article itself and I didn't obviously bother to click on all the links.

Yeah he was put on the spot, but still the dude just rubs the wrong way the way he comes off. Could have just been like, we believe we are offering an excellent value for what we offer with all the features etc. He said something similar but he says things different enough to just rub you wrong. He isn't a likeable person imo.

you all are just reaching for anything to try and continue to kick ms while they are down. for so many people claiming they have no interest in ms they sure do talk about them a lot on these boards.

If he doesnt talk, then people say they're hiding information, etc. If someone other than him talks then they are accused of being fed answers from up the chain

I come across articles and I link them. It isn't hard to kick MS while they are down and are continuing to to make it easy to do so.

Quite the contrary a lot of us have interest in MS because the policies and decisions of the X1 that MS makes and how well it does are going to shape the future of console gaming. Making our opinions heard now when these policies and decisions are first taking shape is our best hope of changing them for the better.

I'm not willing stand on the sideline and watch anti consumer policies be put in place that will effect me further down the line just because some people don't care or "it doesn't effect them" currently.

I guess telling the truth is out of the question for an MS employee.

What stupid analyst predicted a higher cost after seeing the hardware? Michael Pachter was predicting $399 based on the hardware.

Amen brother, preach on.

To add to it - Yes I've already made the decision not to buy an X1 for a while. If it gets hacked to shreds than I may consider it - as long as I can sell the Kinect back to someone on cragslist to recoup 50$ or so.

But just because I've decided on the PS4 doesn't mean I don't want competition in the market place. Competition is good regardless of which way you're going, you want the competitor to continue to push the opposition to be better.

I had the real Xbox 1 and the 360, and I went into this gen with an open mind. MS has gone way too far, the main thing that pisses me off to the point of no return is that kinect. I don't want it, don't want anything to do with it. As long as I can get rid of that piece, if hacked later - then I'll consider the Xbone down the line.

Good. Xbone needs to fail so miserably that DRM becomes a dead horse that nobody wants anything to do with for the next 100 years.

so you really think posting a link to a video of ms defending their price point and painting it as them doing something wrong is going to help with this?

Nah, purbeast is right. It doesn't matter what Microsoft says at this point, you and your internet brethren will keep spitting on them.

Microsoft: "No comment."
You: "Pussies, be straight with your answers."

Microsoft: "We think our machine is awesome and offers more value than what we're asking for it."
You: "Keep digging your hole."

Microsoft: "Our machine is overpriced and we're lowering the price."
You: "Fucking idiots, we already knew that and told you, we're getting a PS4 anyway to show you."

Microsoft: "We are getting rid of DRM at your request."
You: "Fuck you Microsoft, you're already dead to me!"

First off you're being ridiculous. MS would never say some of the stuff you just posted. Plus it's not our fault MS is incompetent and run by a bunch of d-bags who don't know how to talk to people.

Why is it so bad to post information? Is it perhaps because you have a shrine to Steve Ballmer or something? Microsoft screwed up multiple times. We're just calling it like we see it.

The wait and see attitude is good, the Defend MS one is bad, as bad as the MS is evil one..
read this thread, there are a "few" well thought out comments (mine is the Pure A-hole comment im sure most will think ) and a bunch on both sides of the extreme.

defending them right now with no clear answers is as bad as condemning them.. talking crap to counter crap. I know forums are kinda the grade school of discussions, but try a little MS fanboys or Sony fanboys, try make it a little less transparent.

There are plenty of clear answers right now to not like what MS is spouting.

The thing is people want clear answers right now but there are none. Not sure why MS hasn't exactly given everything spelled out. Maybe it's just me but if I'm going to put drm in and change what consumers do with products they buy and how they can use them, I would want people to know everything about the product...what it can and can't do, what you as a user can and can't do.

The used game, or family sharing plan idea really needs documentation. Are they just going to roll that out at release, in a couple months, we don't know. Knowing only what I knew from e3 about the Xbox one, is why I wasn't interested in it. Maybe that will change and it won't be so bad as the things people are talking about in here. Who knows..

When you really think about it this may allow the return of the 'spawn' feature that many multiplayer PC games had back in the day. Played a lot of Blizzard multiplayer games over LAN that way back in the old days. With this, you could do it with an approved friends list anywhere.
