Yea it's an odd sound when you put the game in. Something like keeekh keekh wheeer but only for a couple of seconds.

I've heard the fan only once during killzone and that's when the room was silent, although it keeps pretty cool. After sometime if you stick your hand on the back of the vents you can feel the heat.

Malik you may want to keep an eye on it if it keeps making such a loud noise from the fan or getting super hot. May sound like you could ask for a replacement because there were a few first batches that had bad thermal paste or something.

Does anyone really choose a console based on an ~1" dimension difference? Or whether or not the power supply is in the case, or behind the entertainment center?

Seems to me, it's about the games... And functionality.

EDIT: Actually, that's a rhetorical question. I know that nobody compares console dimensions when choosing a console. It's just something to justify one's purchase.

I have barely had a peep from my x1. Good system thus far, just not nearly enough games.

my friends or I will take our consoles to each other places. for me its alot simpler to just take my unit and go.

my friends wants to bring his x360, he got to go thru the WHOLE process of unplugging and pulling the brick from his entertainment center. hassle i tell yea... i tell him forgetta aboutit~! the only reason he got that console is because microsoft isnt smart enough and system is hackable for burned games

now think about kids who would probably run through this scenario more than adults

I put a game into my microsoft store x1 and it goes keekh keekh wheer CLACK and won't read the disc. I returned it, the amazon.com edition I had was OK, although I read some amazon.com editions shipped units also had the issue.

I can't possibly imagine how he goes through that each and every time he wants to take his console somewhere, please give him my deepest condolences.

On a different note, I picked up this guy yesterday to mount the kinect on top of my TV (and threw away the stupid camera cover). It's now significantly faster to recognize me and log me in than it was sitting below the TV around 3.5 feet off the ground. I plan to game a bit tonight and see if it helps with head tracking.

Got Madden 25 this weekend (well Thursday technically, but I had a migraine so didn't end up playing it much until last night). I actually think it is an improvement over the 360 version. The engine is really good. The UI is not a lag fest that was on the 360. I haven't messed with any of the Kinect stuff, but I probably will tonight.

I get that and it's certainly an issue. But I would probably just get a second brick and HDMI cable instead of rerunning it every time I bring it back home. In the long run it's not a very expensive proposition.

But overall and one of the reasons they went all digital before the 180 is the idea that they were going to make this a entertainment center that was so engrained for everything that you wouldn't want to move it. So they wanted to make the games as portable as possible (which they probably spiffed up the QCR scanning as a product code solution.

This became an issue from two sides. They wanted a unit that is on and running every time the TV is turned on. They wanted a unit that was so important to your entertainment that you would drop use of several other devices or solution. So on one end it was how do you make a machine (specially post RROD) to make something reliable that it could be used all of the time. In the end that meant that along capability wise not wanting to remove or move it, it also meant that due to size and adapter making it that much more cumbersome to move.

That looks interesting. Maybe that will fix my issues of my center speaker blasting at the kinect mic so it won't pick me up when I try to talk to it. Could you measure how tall it stands off the TV? I wonder if I have room for it to clip on.

The highest point (the back of the kinect since it is pointed downward) is 2.5 to 3 inches above the height of the TV. If you need a closer to exact measurement I can get it for you later today.

So I need 3 inches of clearance between the kinect and the shelf above the TV. Ok

I'll get an exact measurement for you tonight.

Could you also post a pic? I understand if you're not comfortable doing so. I want to get an idea what our TV might look like with the Kinect on top of it. Right now we don't have any space on the same shelf as the tv and anything lower would be much lower than the prescribed 2 ft of distance above the floor (we have a very low TV stand). As such, the Kinect is currently sitting on a bookshelf to the left of the TV, which isn't ideal. I'd like to mount it to the top of the TV like the Wii sensor but if it's too unsightly, this may get a veto from the powers-that-be.

saw this yesterday and thought some people in here may have some interest.

http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=141912

the drivers should be released shortly according to that post. my friend ordered one last night from someone on ebay so once he gets it i want to hear his impressions.

Awesome idea but it costs just as much as a controller, effectively doubling the cost of each controller you want it for. I can't find anywhere that states it supports multiple controllers at one time, but considering it can't use a KB&M unless it's on a windows PC (WTH?), this is really only good to use controllers from another system. I'd have to really love that other controller!

EDIT:

Also note you have to buy a bluetooth adapter that is not provided. Plus there is some really shady marketing for this thing "Works on *virtually* any console" (works on PS3, X360 & XB1).

You said the marketing was shady, I was giving some background about the company that is making it to make potential purchasers more comfortable with the device

The marketing statement is still shady regardless. It doesn't even work on 10% of consoles.
