yes, but HOW high? We don't know. The pricing indicates PS4 is in slightly greater demand (in the UK at least).
I don't even think Sony or MS know. I think something like that (gauging world wide demand numbers) will take some time to understand. I'm trying to imagine how they would figure out the actual demand, its gotta be very hard to predict. So many things come into account; holidays, countries that embrace Christmas, countries that don't, market values, etc. Tough job for that product department I'm sure, because that correlates to manufacture rate, sales, and profit. Now we're getting deep.
To get back to the original topic though, I didn't buy a XB1 for two reasons. One, I don't have faith in Microsoft getting good contracts to develop exclusives. Sony has such a good track record with exclusives when compared, Sony won the exclusive race automatically IMO. Two, I don't like the XB1 hardware (Kinect, controller, design/footprint). I much prefer the PS4 in general overall.
I do think that embedding the Kinect in the sale of the XB1 was a mistake but I don't think it was enough to detour potential buyers.
When I was in line with my PS4 and XB1 ticket, I was talking with buyers on what console they were getting. The majority in line were getting PS4's and it was mainly because it was cheaper. The XB1 buyer I ended up talking with, he admitted that all of his friends were getting PS4's, that he'd be the lone ranger on the XB1. He said he couldn't bring himself to play on a PS4 controller, that he much preferred the XB marketplace and system and said his daughter was a big fan of the kinect. So yeah, its so cloudy right now. There really is no winner, no console is exceptionally better than the other. It's going to take many years and many game releases to determine that. And that, is nothing but awesome for consumers.
