pretty much the graphics is getting me through ryse. It's just so damn amazing, that I haven't even seen any PC games that can touch this, Crysis 3 included!
Well, that's kind of just semantics. If you define "graphics" as tech specs, then sure. But I think that most people would define it just as visual appeal.Makes no sense since Crysis 3 uses the same engine at higher resolution, draw distance, and higher res textures. Art style doesn't actually mean better graphics.
I think Ryse got poor reviews for 3 reasons:
1) Game is pretty short. Can easily be finished in 8 hours at normal difficulty.
2) Almost no variation in enemy types. There are probably 10 types at most.
3) Executions are set up such that there is no penalty for missing button presses and you can't pick what execution you do via button presses.
As far as #3 goes, there's not really a penalty if you're playing on easier difficulty settings. On harder settings, the penalty is a broken combo and less damage output. Not a big deal if you're executing the last foe in a fight but when you're fighting group after group, that combo damage comes in handy.
Welp....Xbox One officially broke only after 1 1/2 weeks or so. Left it on last night to finish downloading a movie. Got back from work and tried turning on, and wouldn't respond verbally. So, I tried the power button, and it lit up for about 3 seconds and promptly shut back off. Wouldn't power or attempt to power on again until I unplugged the power receptor into the actual unit. Unplugging from the wall socket didn't make a difference. It would just beep the start up sound but wouldn't turn on.
After contacting support, we couldn't troubleshoot past the power supply, apparently, orange is bad, white is good. Going through Amazon, I can't get a replacement until they receive my defective unit. After talking to support, this seems to be an issue for 1:1000 systems, according to the support guy. Not sure how accurate that number is, but I'm a little disappointed.
i had a problem very similar to this a couple weeks back. the x1 wouldn't turn on at all. i then pulled the plug from the power supply and noticed a light went on on my PSU. i then turned it on and it was fine and has been since. for some reason the power supply was acting as if it wasn't plugged into the wall. no clue why/how that happened, but apparently this happened with the wii as well occassionally because of something in the PSU tripping.
Can we all agree Microsoft needs to fix the borked retail vs. digital pricing? I would love to get in on the $35 AC4 and BF4 games but I really really really don't want to deal with discs, especially since I am totally into switching games via voice. They need to find a retail way to sell digital games pronto.
Ugh, if only it weren't for the terrible E3 reveal. Don Mattrick killed it with the stupid submarine comment.
They already have those (QR Codes). Retailers just don't sell them for some reason. I just wish MS would let us buy a card with a QR code and let me scan it with my Xbox Glass app and start the download while I am at the store.
They would need to be sealed or something otherwise anyone could open them if it was a simple flap with tape and then scan them. But yea if they offered better discounts for digital I may consider buying digital versions.
I just ordered two of these, not much of a loss if they dont work. I have had luck with Chinese generic gaming batteries before

I use Sanyo eneloops now. They have lasted as long as the alcaline Duracell that came with the controller.

Boo. My kinect died on me on Christmas eve. Never thought I wouldve used the voice commands so much that I miss it now. New one arrives on monday, hurry up!
Have you tried screaming louder?
I've run nothing but Eneloops with a Maha C9000 charger for years. Great capacity and batteries still charging like new, barely leak any charge for months.
Best investment I ever made.
i'm almost finished with max curse of brotherhood, and wow, this game is really good. if you enjoy side scroller platformers with puzzles and haven't picked this up, do yourself a favor and spend $15 on it and snag it. there are many little puzzles/parts in this game that i just think to myself afterwards "wow who thought of this awesome little puzzle?". just really well done and the game has a lot of character to it with the awesome art style, great lighting, and little lines that max says throughout the game.
I have found something incredibly annoying with the Xbox controlling my TV. If it is already on and I turn on the Xbox, it will turn the TV off. Wtf? =(
