Anything specific? I've been at it for a couple of hours now, and I love it.

A quick quote from a review I read just now.

But the RPG elements almost completely over-shadow the skill in the game though since equipment and booster can have an Insane impact on your characters stats and abilities. The problem is equipment packs are random, you'll need the best packs to have a chance in the later events and courses. Credit gained other then one time events is slow, Really slow. Without any bonuses or the coming micro-transactions, it will take playing 300 Holes to buy one of the best packs. In short, a fun golf game that can never really have an balanced match since the advantage will always go to the player that played the most or payed the most.

It would appear that at a certain point your skill won't matter because you are supposed to just use equip to boost your character up enough to win. This is cheapened by micro-transactions.

You can kinda of see it from the start, but I don't anticipate that it'll be that bad. Maybe it's been tweaked since release, but I've played about 30 holes, and I was over one-third of the way to the most-expensive pack. (I had 22,400 points, the pack is 60,000). It was roughly a 90-hole pace, though maybe it slows further into the game, as you're not getting first-time challenges all the time or something.

Regardless, the pack one step below is only 15,000 points, which is 25% of the price. I'd imagine it keeps you competitive to an extent. At least in the early stages of the Career, the superior physical attributes of the A.I. has not hurt me too badly. The computer golfer's max drive is about 50-60 yards farther than mine, and I'm the "power" character. However, I still only had trouble winning one of the events, though I didn't get the gold medal in any buy one.

Those "later stages" are probably forever away, given that I'm something like level 9 or 10 and people are saying that the max is 200. By then, you've probably earned a crapload of points, so while I might be wrong, I don't expect the grind to be TOO terrible.

powerstar golf is not a new series, it's been out for a long time on other consoles (it's even on PC). it's based on pangya golf.

nothing will touch mario golf.

Well, if you ever want to see it, message me, and I'll set it up on Twitch or something. I literally put 10 hours into it today, and the only minor complaint is that it's not that hard to get all of the Achievements, just a bit of a grind.

As far as that claim that it would take 300+ holes to get an Extreme pack of cards, it's total nonsense. Playing local multiplayer with my cousin, we were getting 17,000-23,000 credits per-game (I got over 33,000 in one, where I used a credit booster). Each game takes maybe 45 minutes, meaning you can afford an Extreme pack after 3 18-hole rounds, most likely. 54 holes is a lot fewer than 300. I bought two Extreme packs tonight, so they're definitely not that hard to get.

As for Mario Golf, it's OK. I have nothing against it, but I wanted a sports game on my One. NBA 2K14 was $50, but I only have about $41 in money from Bing Rewards. If it had dropped to $40, I probably would have considered it. Instead, I grabbed Powerstar Golf for $20, and I might spend the other $20 on Trials Fusion, since a lot of the people I talk to on another forum have that.

I started playing Tomb Raider, I have made it to where you meet up with your group on the beach and they are trying to start a boat. How much longer is this game? I am getting tired of playing it

You have a couple more levels. I would say you are a bit over half.

I loved it, as well... But a couple of my friends felt like the story dragged on. *shrug*

yeah i can see that. but the game is just flat out fun. it's probably too because i was playing it in my HT and the game has some of the best sound in any video game. i beat it in 3 days from redbox, never wanted to put it down.

Yea I kept playing to see where I would end up next and what would happen. Story was good and I felt the lenghth was great. It took me some time to finish it and I didn't even do the extra side discovery quests.

It is dragging on way too long and it is pretty repetitive. Crouch and go through narrow passage, scale wall or obstacle, go across zip line, kill room/area of baddies..repeat. The dialogue is almost unbearable.

Overpowered. Underpowered. Doesn't matter.

The main issue is price. Microsoft will not match PS4 sales until they drop the price to $399. They simply are not adding enough perceived value at the moment to justify a $100 price increase for gamers. This may come over time once the app store fleshes out and Kinect gets better optimized and devs start really taking advantage of it, but the reality is the system in its current state simply cannot sway enough people its way with current price points.

Microsoft needs to drop the price at E3 to $399. Take the loss and move on. Continue working on the software, fleshing out the bugs, and continuing the software innovations. Optimize the hell out of your graphics pipelines and aim for 1080P parity with every PS4 cross platform title.

I think that at $450 and a free game was good enough. You had the option of Titanfall or Forza, which were basically the two games you'd pick a One for. Maybe they could offer a generic $50 Microsoft Store credit instead, or a full year of Xbox LIVE with the console--given that they're essentially forcing you to buy Gold to use the console for anything beyond campaigns.

Until more games come out that take advantage of kinnect and core features of the system I don't think it's sales will improve. They also need more games. The only nice advantage is the tv pass through and use of kinnect to control things but not many people are going to use that to its full potential. Most gamers I know don't have the nice cable packages with the hd boxes that you can plug it into to take advantage of. A lot of my friends don't even have cable anymore.

At the same time, the Xbox will handle those streaming methods most dump their cable for (well, not all of them). I've considered trying it, but haven't yet, but I would think some could run an HTPC through the console for media consumption while playing games. Myself, I have my desktop hooked up to my TV already, and I don't want my console going 24/7 like my PC, so I haven't really considered going with the pass-through solution for watching stuff on my console that way, but it could be done.

I don't honestly think that the Kinect will ever live up to its gaming potential, not on this console. It's still too imprecise, and by a solid margin, and they still treat it like everyone is going to use it in a living room. If you're in a bedroom, like I am, Kinect Sports Rivals becomes a chore--not because of lack of movement space, but because of the inability of the Kinect to track me in that small space.

I have to wonder though, what IS the potential of the Kinect? I can't say that major releases like CoD or Halo would be worthwhile with a Kinect in ANY way. Forza tried Kinect integration, but IDK if they even put that into the new one. Racing games could use it for wrist tracking to drive, but I'd rather see that in an arcade racer, where it's less-likely to suffer when it's inconsistent. Sports games in an open area could be cool, and I still believe that Rivals NEEDS to have a baseball game, because I stand there thinking "this was MADE for baseball" every time I play it (why they elected for the crap Target Shooting and poorly-conceptualized soccer games, IDK).

The things that the Kinect does well, it does really well. It's decent for controller-less control of the system, and it's nice for navigating through multiple button presses with a single voice command (switching to a different game, viewing Achievements). It's also nice for Twitch streaming, if you're into that. For what Microsoft WANTS for the One (a wide-ranging media/entertainment device), the Kinect is brilliant and necessary. For what consumers mostly ask for (a solid, affordable gaming experience), it falls a bit flat.

I'm not sure where they are going with kinnect. I know for a fact they wanted the Xbox one to be the one family center console. Meaning like you said, it should sit in the living room and connected to the cable boxes, in an area that is not small so that those features shine. For some people that's what it does but they weren't just targeting gamers, they were trying to rope in new customers too.

Most of the kids who are getting it as a gift, their parents don't even know about the pass through features and all that the kinnect can do. I've seen it many times where family friends bought the system and just gave it to their kids, they set it up in their bedroom and off they went to game.

For what it can do kinnect is cool but doesn't appeal to everyone. They need some good exclusives. Titanfall was good, and bundling it with the system was a great idea.

I'll tell you what if shemmue ever came out on the Xbox one I would buy one just for that game, but that's a far cry from happening.

They should make a remastered 1 and 2 and then a part 3. It just fell off the face of the earth. Really sucks.

they need to make an extension cable the the kinect is what they need to do. i'm really surprised that the console has been out this long without an extension cable. i also hope a wireless headset from ms comes out.

I don't know what's wrong with you if you do like Tomb Raider. Two sides to that coin, buddy.

I quit playing it after 2 hours. I am so glad I waited until it was $5 to minimize my losses.
