Yeah I am looking at destiny, the evil within, batman akham knight, shadow of mordor, watch dogs.

Sunset overdrive and the order 1886(ps4 game) are the two exclusives I am looking hard at but the order might see a pushed back date I think. Have to see what they say at e3. Also manye drive club but I will play the free psn+ edition to determine if it is for me first so I am not really focused on the release date so much as other titles.

Any time you transition to a new platform, there is the opportunity to look at things with a new perspective. For us at 343 Industries, the launch of the Xbox One was an opportunity to think about what stories we wanted to tell, how to tell them, and how best to push the “Halo” franchise to showcase the platform. And, most importantly, combining our passion for “Halo” with the vocal and informative input from our fans.

“Halo” isn’t simply a perennial game franchise, it’s a part of the Xbox platform itself. In terms of innovation and ideation, it’s sometimes important to people who might not even play “Halo.” And of course it’s a passion and an essential experience for two generations of gamers. So we asked ourselves, how do we begin and where do we go with “Halo” on Xbox One?

In the past, “Halo” games have pushed the Xbox forward, showcasing the console and its ecosystem in entertaining and innovative ways. Making a “Halo” game that runs at 60 frames per second, on dedicated servers, with the scope, features and scale we’ve been dreaming of for more than a decade, is non-trivial. It’s a task that we, at 343 Industries, are taking very seriously to ensure we deliver the “Halo” game that fans deserve, and a game that is built from the ground up for Xbox One.

I’m happy to reveal that “Halo 5: Guardians,” the next installment in the legendary saga of the Master Chief, will launch on Xbox One in fall of 2015. In the tradition of every “Halo” game since its debut in 2001, it is a massive and exciting project.

“Halo 5: Guardians” is a bigger effort than “Halo 4.” That applies to the content and scope of the game, as well as the technology in what’s now a brand new and more powerful engine. Certainly there are some core elements carried over from prior games, but we’ve invested a huge effort in retooling our tech to take full advantage of the Xbox One’s hardware and ecosystem to create worlds and experiences worthy of next-gen.

It’s a game that will hopefully demonstrate the talent, learnings and abilities of the 343 Industries team. A game that will incorporate the things we learned from “Halo 4” about technology, aesthetics, performance and scale – and perhaps more importantly, understanding and embracing a community of gamers who love what lies at the heart of this game, and the limitless potential of the “Halo” universe.

And 2015 won’t simply be the year of “Halo 5: Guardians,” it will also be a year that offers us a unique opportunity. The opportunity to invite old friends and new audiences into that universe through the “Halo” television series, launched as a unique collaboration with Steven Spielberg and some of the finest creative minds in the business. A series that will stand alone, as well as complement and enrich the game experience. We’ll have more to share on the “Halo” television series as we near its projected fall 2015 release.

Your Journey Begins in 2014

Many fans noted that I was very deliberate with my phrasing on stage at E3 last year. I spoke about a “journey,” rather than a destination – and that journey definitely begins in 2014 with a giant leap, rather than one small step. We’ll give you much more information about our plans for this year at the Xbox E3 2014 Media Briefing on June 9, and we’re confident that “Halo” fans will be pretty excited about the special plans we have in store.

So until E3, I’d like to express my gratitude to our massive and varied Halo community, whose energy, enthusiasm, criticism and kindness are the driving force behind what we do and what we hope to achieve in “Halo 5: Guardians.”

I'm also interested in the order. I hope it won't be pushed back. I'm going to do the same with drive club. Shadow of mordor looks good and i may need to wait to upgrade my pc before picking that up.

I always liked halo but I hope they can get the quality back up a bit. I didn't like halo 4 as much as some of the past games that were done by Bungie.

With E3 so close, I wonder why they announced Halo today. Why didn't they save the reveal for E3 to get the biggest impact? Unless they're trying to keep news going with their announcement yesterday. Either way, more Halo is always a good thing.

I'm guessing they want to have a good month of sales before E3.

IDK, I'm a bit mixed. I LOVEDtha campaign, though the ending sequence with the Didact was crap (I was expecting a fight, not QTEs). The multiplayer was fine, just severely lacking in maps and sizing. They made the maps tight while adding permanent sprint, so it was too easy to cover a map like Haven or Abandon or Adrift really quickly to spawn kill people. The gameplay and feel of the game were fine, my complaints were almost entirely about the maps. Of course, there is some stuff I didn't mind but could also do without--Ordinance, Killcam, Loadouts.

For me, Halo 4 just wasn't fun. It literally killed my weekly Halo group. We played every Wednesday evening for years, until Halo 4 came out. We even tried going back to Reach, but a few people had sold it for 4, expecting it to be better. Sadly, that wasn't the case. =(

I don't even know what it was, it was just not a fun game.

With that said, I will still be getting Halo 5.

Destiny is iffy for me. It looks kind of like a really boring Borderlands, from the first gameplay video I saw. I think it could be really cool, or it could end up a ho-hum dud like Defiance did, but in first-person.

The Evil Within is a great IDEA, but there was a similar letdown in the gameplay. All I saw was a bit of craziness that was neat at the start, and then...zombies. Why zombies? I hope they aren't the main antagonist/experience in the game, because I'm sick of zombies as it is, and I don't even touch zombie-based stuff.

Arkham Knight is a hard pass. I don't care for superhero stuff, and that series struck me as Assassin's Creed: Gotham. I couldn't play past AC2 (though I intend to someday) because the combat system was boring, and the Arkham series looked to be a similar thing, for me.

Shadow of Mordor, I'm watching. The entire series (since the LotR movies games) has always been met rather weakly, so I never bother. That, and it's mostly RPG-type stuff, which I am usually not as big on. However, I have come around to RPG-style games more over the past few years, and I'm hoping this can maybe fill the gap Skyrim left behind.

Watch Dogs, done deal. I've had it paid off for a month-plus now, just waiting until the day I can pick it up. I might see if I can coax Best Buy into giving me it early, since the day before release is my birthday, haha.

About destiny...you haven't seen the game. You have seen a couple fps scenes designed to show you the combat. They aren't telling us a lot on purpose but they have a lot to tell us at e3 apparently and they are supposed to detail the beta.

The fact that you compare batman games from rocksteady to assassins creed shows how ignorant you are of gaming in general. Do you even read anything about the games or just make blind assumptions? Basically everything you say is "it looks like this" or "it seemed like that" instead of assuming things dig into the info available even I'd you just skim through a lot of it, you will come away with a lot of info. For example batman uses freeflow combat that makes enemy encounters fluid and dynamic. You can attack between enemies just like you would expect a combat specialist like batman to do with fodder. It is absolutely nothing like assassins creed at all in the game play.

There is no story info about the evil within. How do you know it is actually Zombies and even if it is how do you come to the conclusion the gameplay sucks because of that? Last of Us used zombies but didnt call them such and crwated one of the greatest games of the last decade. This is the creator of resident evil who basically kicked off the survival horror genre going back to his creative roots with a new IP.

Got an email that 'Games with Gold' is coming to Xbox One! That means in 6 months I will have every Xbox One game released... Also, 'Deals with Gold' announced as well. Similar to the PS+, where you get select discounts for being a member.

Not bad, especially for those that don't want to buy a lot of games. I imagine a launch title will be free (Ryse I hope, as I have DR3 and that is the only other I could think of being free).

Is this similar to psn where every month you get one game a month free? That's pretty good now especially with the price drop.

With E3 so close, I wonder why they announced Halo today. Why didn't they save the reveal for E3 to get the biggest impact? Unless they're trying to keep news going with their announcement yesterday. Either way, more Halo is always a good thing.

It's to do with the abominable NPD numbers. The first June for X360 was 295,000 units, and that was with production shortages. This first June for XB1 was 115,000 units, with massive overproduction (honestly a fair mistake, given the huge demand for PS4/XB1 in Nov/Dec when almost every unit put on shelves got sold).

It was leaked that some stores, Target in particular, got so many XB1s in the channel that they had to send some back, those got papered with the Titanfall bundle + digital code, and then even those haven't been pushed through the channel yet (still widely available). Now that those have stagnated sales-wise, they timed the $399 announcement/Halo 5 news to to the leadup / followup of the NPD sales report to try to cover the news as best as possible.

The second part of this is to give up on May sales, and front-load pent-up demand for a $399 XB1 into June, so they can try to get some momentum headed towards the end of the year. It's a bold move, I hope they can get something going. They have no real chance of catching PS4 even in the US, but we're better off with a viable XB1 than a dying one. May NPDs will almost certainly be sub 100k, but the NPDs for next month will be drowned in E3 news (rightfully so).

The real story will be told in June's NPDs (out mid-month July). It will tell us the public's general reception of the E3 plans and $399 kinectless bundle. It's going to be a hard road, because there's nothing in the pipeline right now in terms of exclusives near-term that can really change things up, so it will be 100% marketing and the psychology of the $399 price parity to do that work.

My prediction is that $399 kinectless bundle in the midst of a series of multiplatform titles will do little to help. But with Spencer fully at the helm, and committed to keeping Xbox relevant long-term, that could spell a $349 Sunset Overdrive bundle this fall, probably the new white model.

E3 will also bring a new dashboard/UI release (or at least news of it coming VERY soon), to make navigation without the Kinect fully fleshed out.

Exciting times.

I can't tell you guys much, but Halo 5 will utilize the X1 to the fullest.

Think Kinect, think Azure cloud servers, etc. This game will be the showcase for the X1, as Halo has always been for Xbox.

Kinect? That would be a catastropic mistake considering the new DisKinected SKU just released. The $499 Kinect SKU has been shown to be dying already in retail given the catastrophic numbers. And 'Cloud'? Tying a game to online-only even for SP would be another stone tied to it, as a sizable portion of gamers have bad or no internet connectivity on a regular basis.

Halo 5 needs to deliver both a fantastic MP suite (where cloud assets can be used to their heart's content if they can make that work)

AND

A legendary SP campaign of epic proportions, one that doesn't depend on Kinect/Cloud anything.

2015 is damned far off as well, XB1 needs 2014 not to let the gap grow ever larger in order to maintain relevance.

Hate to burst your bubble but you will NOT get full retail games for free, the system is too new. You'll get free indie games which is what the PS4 has been getting so don't count on getting games like Ryse or Dead Rising anytime soon. There are plenty of good indie games so it's definitely not a bad thing. You'll have to wait a couple years to get full retail games, or at least decent ones. The first game you'll get on Xbone will be Max: The Curse of Brotherhood and Halo: Spartan Assault

Excellent assumptions on my experience with things, stupendous work.

I'm basing my opinion of Destiny on what they have given us, which is one video of gameplay on the Xbox One. I don't know how it's apparently wrong to form an opinion of it, but you seem to think so, in which case I apologize to the whole of humanity for giving an opinion based on the information provided. That was wrong of me.

Yep, seen plenty of the Arkham stuff. My cousin has them all, and I've watched him play quite a lot of it. I don't need to pick up a controller and not enjoy something to know I won't enjoy it. Sorry I don't get an erection for melee-based Batman games.

I never said I knew the story, I--AGAIN--assessed what I saw. They have one gameplay video, and the second portion of it was battling zombies. As I said in the first place, I'm hoping that's not the majority of the game. I didn't say it WILL BE zombies, only that I saw them and was disappointed. Again, assessing what they are giving me, can't expect more than that.

They've announced that you get Max: The Curse of Brotherhood and Halo: Spartan Assault in June. However, it's also not like the 360--you don't keep the games if your sub runs out.

As for the indie/retail offerings, we'll see. I imagine they start pushing the launch retail games through this service at the end of the year, in order to snag a few Season Pass purchases or something. Otherwise, they also have Strike Suit Zero and Nutjitsu to give away, plus 3 more already-announced indie titles for the summer coming.

Of course, you have to wonder if the indie devs would love having their games given away right and left. They have 4 indie games now, which covers June and July, then a couple of more to cover August. Maybe September brings the lower-end digital stuff like Powerstar Golf and Trials Fusion or Child of Light, but they're likely to run out of digital-only options by November, at which point I would expect Ryse to be out there for free, probably with an indie title. The 360 version of the deal has frequently been coupling an indie and retail title.

Normally this would be sound logic, but I think we have good reason to expect major things for the following reasons :

(1)- Games that no longer chart in significant numbers will be prime targets for this. Most of the launch lineup will be stuff not even in the top 100 after the series of multiplats coming starts stomping out the door. So there's not much to be lost by giving them away to gain traction in the marketplace.

(2)- Sales of XB1 are terrible in 2014, and declining precipitously. Microsoft never planned on being in 2nd place in the US, and it's a dangerous position to let stand for long, as they don't have any relevance in the rest of the world to fall back on a la PS3.

(3)- Phil Spencer has balls and brains, and he's not going to hold back at E3. If $399 Xb1 doesn't take off, more bold steps will follow.

Why does fps matter on a console? I have Never had a fps game or any game stutter or play like crap for me unless it was online mode that was goofed up.

On top of that, the Xbox One version of Games with Gold requires you to maintain a Gold membership in order to play. With the 360 you basically "bought" the games for free and get to keep them for as long as you have a 360, even if your Gold membership expires.

It has been widely speculated that part of the reason why more and better games are available on PS+ vs. Games With Gold is that PS+ isn't giving them away, it's just renting them as long as you maintain a membership. Hopefully the Xbox One will get more and better games as time goes on. Doing so should drive interest in the system.

As it stands, the PS4 is more interesting to me (I don't own either system) because I could get a nice game library without having to pay more than the cost of a PS+ membership.

That's all understandable. I'm just saying that like the weather, if there's something with the XB1 that doesn't seem acceptable, just wait a minute, it will change (other than the specs of course).

GWG can and probably WILL change, big time. It's one of the easiest things for them to implement in a better fashion for positive PR and goodwill with gamers.

Make no mistake, 2014 has been an unmitigated disaster for Microsoft on so many levels. But Spencer isn't going to sit on his hands. E3 will have surprises, and if $399 SKU doesn't lead in June/July, more massive changes will come. Microsoft can't afford to fall back much in the US, as they don't have the rest of the world to prop them up like the PS3 was globally last gen. There would be no PS4 if the global numbers had been like the US shift last time.
