33 here!
Yes, I remember most of things being mentioned in this thread
I also did the BB gun shootouts! Furthermore (why I'm still alive to tell this I dont know) one year my uncles, their friends and myself (was probably 14 then) decided to have a "Fireworks War" to celebrate the 4th. Some major artillery was brought out too...huge Roman Candles, 'Saturn' rockets, bricks of firecrackers and M-80s to name a few. The battleground was my grandparents farm with surrounding woods and horse trails.
We put on our eye goggles (HEY...safety first! ) and split up into teams. I hung close to my uncle Dave (hey he's an Army Ranger...I'll be safe! ) as we went on "patrol" to hunt down the enemy along the riverbank. Soon enough, we were ambushed from the adjacent cornfield by several of our cheerful biker friends. Dave took a Roman Candle round right up his sleeve and I dove to cover while those hated Saturn Rockets were buzzing a foot above my head! Then several Spinners (or Chasers) were hurled at me and I beat a hasty retreat over the riverbank...those things really do hunt ya down!
The war finally ended about an hour later when several police officers showed up to find out "what those crazy Linders were up to this time"! Fortunately no one was busted (just another warning to keep things under control). Well Mom had an absolute fit when she found out her only son was shooting and being shot at by explosives and I was sentenced to hard labor cleaning the horse stables the remainder of the summer!
Not the brightest activity I engaged in...but I thought about it because if this happened in 2001 about 30 lawsuits could have resulted from our night of pyrotechnic clashes.
